"Uncle Andre, will Sato be okay?"
After walking over to the white man, Eriri looked worriedly at the two dumbfounded police officers who had just gotten out of their car.
Andre withdrew his gaze from Sato and shook his head.
"He'll be fine. This is clearly self-defense, and with our testimony there absolutely won't be any problems. At most, he'll just need to make a statement."
After speaking, he turned and gave Sato another deep look, speaking in somewhat clumsy Japanese.
"You are very strong."
Sato was briefly stunned, then smiled.
"These are just some insignificant tricks."
Andre's expression froze.
Although Sato sounded humble, no matter how he looked at it, it felt like blatant showing off.
After all, there had been over thirty delinquents. Even he himself might not have been able to handle that many. Two fists could not fight four hands, and against such a crowd it would be impossible to defend perfectly. More importantly, Sato did not even have a speck of dust on him, and after the fight his expression remained completely relaxed.
Looking at the calm and composed Sato, Andre's heart turned solemn.
Perhaps this was the humility of Easterners?
Little did he know that in Sato's eyes, this really was not much at all.
At that moment, the two police officers who had responded to reports from nearby civilians walked over as well.
The moment they saw Andre in his black suit, the two exchanged glances and their expressions immediately grew serious. Suddenly, they felt the situation had become troublesome.
That kind of bodyguard attire, and a foreigner too...
Please don't let this involve some major figure...
While silently praying in their hearts, Andre pulled a small booklet from his chest pocket.
Seeing that the two officers made no move, Andre inwardly complained. If this were back home, making a move like this would probably get me shot instantly by the police. Things really are peaceful over here in the East.
Under the curious gazes of the officers, Andre introduced himself.
"I am Andre, security personnel for the British ambassador stationed in Japan."
Security for a diplomat?!
The two officers looked at each other, then sharply inhaled.
Damn, this is huge.
The two swallowed nervously before quickly pulling out their notebooks and asking in serious tones,
"May we ask what happened here?"
In the end, just as Andre had said, with his testimony the police did not make things difficult for Sato.
In truth, Sato had acted in self-defense to begin with, so even without Andre's testimony there would not have been much issue.
But with Andre backing him up, he did not even need to go down to the station to make a statement. After briefly explaining the situation at the scene, he was free to leave.
After hearing about Sato's overwhelming performance, the two officers looked at him like he was some kind of monster.
In fact, compared to ordinary people, people like them really could be called monsters...
...
After declining Eriri's offer to drive him home, Sato walked back to Aoyama Apartments a few minutes later.
Compared to his usual schedule, it was already fairly late. Sato had assumed he would have to take Kanna out for dinner again today, but the moment he opened the door he saw several pairs of shoes in the entryway and smelled delicious food drifting from inside.
Sato: "..."
Did a burglar break in?
And one who cooks for themselves too?!
Perhaps hearing the sound of the door opening, a head soon poked out from the kitchen doorway. Crimson eyes glanced at him calmly.
"You're back? The dishes are almost done. Wash your hands and dinner will be ready."
After saying that, Takanashi Toka disappeared back into the kitchen.
Sato blinked and stood frozen at the entrance for quite a while before finally changing his shoes and walking toward the kitchen.
"Toka-neesan, when did you get back?"
"This morning."
Inside the kitchen, Toka was seriously focused on cooking.
All kinds of ordinary ingredients transformed into decorative flowers beneath her slender, beautiful hands.
Seeing this, Sato could not help twitching at the corner of his eye.
Is all this really necessary for a home-cooked meal?
"Oh right, speaking of which, why are you in my kitchen?"
Toka continued working without even raising her head.
"When I came back today, I planned to treat you to dinner. But when it got late and you still hadn't returned, I just decided to cook here instead."
Her voice was calm, as though it were something completely insignificant.
Sato opened his mouth, then closed it again.
Fine. He was already used to the two upstairs masters randomly dropping into his place anyway.
Walking into the living room, he saw Rikka and Kanna exactly as expected.
Both of them belonged to the type with very subdued facial expressions.
No... actually, everyone in the room besides him belonged to that category.
So what he saw were two blank-faced girls staring expressionlessly at the television, making him instinctively cover his face.
Honestly, being surrounded by expressionless people all the time was kind of terrifying. It made him feel like he was the only normal one in the house.
"Sato!"
After seeing him return, Kanna stood up and called out to him in her childish voice.
"Finished your homework?"
"Mhm."
"Then keep watching TV."
"Wait!"
After asking about Kanna's homework, Sato was about to return to his room to squeeze in some writing when Rikka suddenly called out to him again.
He looked at her in confusion.
Rikka stared at him seriously and declared,
"Servant, the Holy Culinary Master has returned. The war has begun anew!"
Sato: "..."
So... that's what you wanted to tell me?
He pinched the bridge of his nose with a headache.
This was not the return of war. This was clearly just her chuunibyou getting a buff.
Still, deep down Rikka was probably very happy.
Without making it obvious, he glanced at her.
"What are you two doing?"
Toka walked out from the kitchen carrying dishes, slightly frowning at the pair.
"Nothing. I'm going to wash my hands."
Sato replied casually.
After washing up, everyone gathered around the dining table.
Looking at the lavish spread of food before her, Kanna's eyes shone with utter shock. The aroma alone made her almost unable to hold herself back.
"Alright, let's eat."
Toka looked at the table full of delicious dishes, gave a nearly imperceptible nod, and a trace of satisfaction flashed through her eyes.
