c97: Are You Juggling?
"Come out, Gardevoir."
A few hundred meters into the Electric Forest, Chen Xiaoxiao released her Gardevoir, scanning the area attentively.
Small yellow Joltik four-eyed, four-leggednclung to the bark above her, but no other Electric‑types were present.
One curious Joltik leaped from a tree, aiming to land on her head. Gardevoir sensed it—its eyes flashed, using Telekinesis to suspend the Pokémon midair.
The tiny Joltik's legs scrambled excitedly.
"Okay, okay Gardevoir, set it down."
Chen Xiaoxiao coaxed, amused by the sprite. With a graceful wave, Gardevoir gently placed Joltik on the ground, its psychic glow fading.
Joltik chirped and bounded, eager to play more.
"But no thanks," she smiled. "I've got criteria."
She accessed her System Inventory, dropping a pack of Common Electric Energy Cubes. "Eat up."
The Pokémon sprinted off, still bounding, but far from the strength she sought.
"Cutie, but needs power."
After a few minutes walking deeper, she encountered a group of students. Their eyes lit when they saw her Flash Gardevoir, many boys stealing glances. Chen Xiaoxiao barely batted an eye she'd long grown used to that.
Suddenly, a handsome student strode forward. "Hi there I'm Lei Jian." He offered a palm, smiling politely.
"Don't you know it's rude for a boy to grab a girl's hand?" Chen Xiaoxiao teased lightly.
Lei Jian retracted his hand, cheeks reddening. "Sorry it's just that… uh…"
Nearby, a girl Xiaoye mocked him. "Don't be so obvious, Lei Jian."
He flared in embarrassment, glaring at her.
Lei Jian cleared his throat. "May I get to know you?"
Chen Xiaoxiao tilted her head, inspecting him carefully. "Lei… you're from Hanwu's Lei Department Gym, right?"
Xiaoye snickered. "Mention his uncle, Lei Ting he's the gym leader."
Lei Jian flushed. "Ignore her… I just… Hi, I'm Lei Jian. Are we can we friend code?"
He flipped his Pokédex around toward her.
Chen Xiaoxiao chuckled. "No thanks I'm not into new-generation copycats."
Then she pivoted and strode off deeper into the forest.
His face drained color. "She… she knows Lei Ting?!"
Xiaoye snarled in frustration, "Don't boss people around!"
Chen Xiaoxiao paused, looking down her nose. "Um don't take offense, but I'm not here to babysit."
Then Xiaoye's voice burst after her.
"Hey! Wait! Apologize to us you can't do that!"
Xiaoye flung out a Poké Ball. "Raichu, use Thunderbolt and get her attention!"
Chen Xiaoxiao walked on. The ball clicked open behind her.
A golden spark crackled—Raichu's back quivered, electricity charging up. A bolt hissed into the trees, blasting a half-meter cratering bolt trace on the forest floor some 50 meters away. The thunder echoed.
Chen Xiaoxiao barely slowed. She turned once to glance at the crater, then looked back at Xiaoye's triumphant grin.
Clearly proud of her Raichu, Xiaoye boasted: "Are you scared now?!"
Chen Xiaoxiao shook her head in mild amusement, cross‑checking the data she'd just pulled up:
Raichu
Gender: Female
Level: 40 (Peak – mid-rank)
Type: Electric
Moves: Thunderbolt
She scoffed. Elite‑level trainers don't duel random wild Pokémon for attention. "Really?"
Pulling a Poké Ball from her belt, she gave it a quick spin between her fingers and redirected her gaze forward, walking deeper.
Xiaoye shouted again: "Stop ignoring me! Show some trainer dignity!"
Chen Xiaoxiao smirked, lifted her voice: "I won't descend to your level or your Raichu's."
"Oh? Gardevoir, show this little sister what real skill is Moonblast!"
She pressed a button on her Poké Ball to signal Gardevoir and stepped away with serene confidence, disappearing among the electric hum of the forest, leaving Xiaoye gaping in her wake.
