Chapter 43: Breaking Point
***Rowan's POV***
Even though the silver power burned my hands, I grabbed Arin's face as she fell. I whispered, "Stay with me," giving her the spiritual link I'd always felt for her. The one my brothers didn't get.
Everything was a mess in her mind. Being around Queen Althara was like being in a storm; it tore through Arin's emotions and thoughts. But I could feel the real Arin in the darkness. She was small, scared, and running to get away.
"Rowan?"
The only sound we could hear was a whisper from her.
"I'm here," I said, pushing deeper despite the pain. "You're not alone."
"I can't stop her," Arin sobbed. "She's too strong. She's making me hurt everyone I love."
"Listen to me," I said quickly. "The fourth bond—who is it? Who's your sister?"
But before she could answer, Queen Althara's voice cut through our link like a blade.
"Get out of my puppet's head, boy!"
