"Wait—commendation?!"
Nami stared in disbelief. "Are you serious right now?!"
Rear Admiral Hina let out a helpless laugh and nodded.
"Yeah. I'm just as baffled as you are…"
"Instead of punishing Chiyu-sama, Marine HQ and the World Government are publicly praising him. Not only did they reinstate his vice admiral rank, but they also sent him a ton of resources—money, supplies, weapons, ammo… everything."
Nami scratched her head. "So... what's the deal?"
Franky snorted. "Like hell I'm buying the World Government being all generous and noble."
Barbara, who'd taken the Den-Den Mushi call, chimed in:
"You're right not to trust them."
"Yes, Chiyu-sama's been reinstated and officially praised—but here's the twist…"
"The World Government is now claiming that taking down Crocodile and Gecko Moria was their plan all along—that they ordered Chiyu-sama to do it."
Everyone's expression darkened instantly.
Nami exploded. "That's so shameless!"
"They spent all that time trying to stop Chiyu-sama, and now they're turning around and stealing credit?!"
"No wonder they're praising him—it's just a big PR spin!"
Franky actually looked amused.
"Ha! Now that's the World Government I know. Shameless as ever—SUPER thick-skinned!"
Everyone else, though, was livid.
Chiyu stayed calm and asked Barbara, "Anything else they said?"
"Yeah. They admitted the Warlord system has problems, but claimed they 'realized' it and immediately sent you, Chiyu-sama, to clean it up. Now they're planning to recruit two new Warlords to fill the gaps…"
"Still recruiting?!"
Nami's voice rose. "Every Warlord so far has turned out rotten—and they still won't scrap the system?!"
Chiyu nodded slightly. "From their perspective, it's not time to abolish it yet."
Hina frowned. "And when will it be?"
"No idea," Chiyu replied. "Whenever they think they're ready."
"Ready for what?"
Chiyu didn't answer.
But the crew could guess: they were waiting until they had enough power to wipe out all opposition.
Of course, Chiyu already knew more.
Weapons like the Pacifistas—created from Bartholomew Kuma—and the Seraphim, modeled after the Warlords themselves, were part of the World Government's secret experiments.
…
Aboard the Uchiha, the crew had just left the Florian Triangle. The Red Line loomed ahead—they were nearly halfway through the Grand Line.
But compared to what lay beyond—the New World—this first half was considered the easy part.
In the first half, the seas were chaotic but disconnected—each island ruled itself, more or less.
The New World, though…
It was ruled by monsters—the Four Emperors:
Whitebeard, Edward Newgate
Kaido of the Beasts
Red-Haired Shanks
Big Mom, Charlotte Linlin
They weren't just pirates—they were institutions, titans who controlled the entire sea. Going into the New World meant facing them head-on. And the outcome? Usually fatal.
Before reaching the Red Line, though, the crew made a stop at Sabaody Archipelago—the final checkpoint before heading up.
It looked flashy and modern on the surface, but beneath that glitz… hid something rotten.
The ugliest part of the One Piece world—
The Celestial Dragons.
At the same time, the World Government's announcement—declaring Crocodile and Moria stripped of their Warlord titles and announcing two new replacements—sent shockwaves around the globe.
Of course, not everyone bought the official story.
Most already knew the truth: Crocodile and Moria were out of control and got taken down by Uchiha Chiyu. The World Government just didn't want to lose face.
Still, being a Warlord—while not every pirate's dream—was tempting. The Navy's protection, the power, the recognition…
Suddenly, lots of big names were throwing their hats in the ring.
But getting chosen wasn't easy.
The original Seven Warlords were:
Dracule Mihawk
Boa Hancock
Donquixote Doflamingo
Bartholomew Kuma
Jinbe
Gecko Moria
Crocodile
Now Moria and Crocodile were dead. Blackbeard (Marshall D. Teach) was still with Whitebeard. Ace had only just joined the crew. Buggy? Already dead—Chiyu made sure of that.
Which meant…
Two new candidates emerged.
First: Trafalgar Law.
Captain of the Heart Pirates, user of the Ope Ope no Mi, and known as the Surgeon of Death. His goal? Kill his old boss—current Warlord Donquixote Doflamingo.
To prove his "intent," he handed over one hundred pirate hearts.
Marine HQ was stunned.
After all, the Warlords were meant to scare pirates straight—and Law's move played perfectly into that.
Plus, the Ope Ope no Mi was considered one of the most valuable Devil Fruits in existence—worth over five billion berries.
With credentials like that, Law was a perfect fit. So the Government approved him.
Second: Edward Weevil.
Nicknamed Whitebeard Jr., this guy claimed to be the biological son of Edward Newgate himself. He had the looks—and more terrifyingly, he had the strength.
His brain? Not so sharp.
Every move he made was directed by his mother, Buckingham Stussy—a scheming woman who knew exactly how to exploit the current situation.
Together, they rode Whitebeard's reputation, annihilated pirate crews, and impressed the World Government enough to earn the Warlord title.
But none of this was part of the original timeline.
In the canon story, Weevil doesn't become a Warlord until after the Paramount War. Law joins after that too.
But thanks to Chiyu's arrival, the timeline had shifted—drastically. Marineford was still four years away, and already the pieces were moving out of order.
One butterfly flapped its wings—and the ripple became a storm, reshaping the pirate world.
Some changes, even Chiyu couldn't have predicted.
…
Elsewhere…
News of Edward Weevil's promotion hit a Marine training base.
A man with a giant Sea-Prism Stone mechanical arm—the "Crusher"—clenched his fist.
RUMBLE!
BOOM!
Power exploded around him as he roared in fury.
"Admiral Zephyr, please—calm down!"
"GET OUT OF MY WAY!"
Zephyr had lost it.
Once a high-ranking admiral, he'd seen his family slaughtered by pirates. The Navy and World Government he served didn't feel like justice anymore.
In his 40s, he tried to resign, but they talked him into staying—just not as an admiral. Instead, he became a Marine instructor, building the next generation from the ground up.
His students?
The current three admirals—Aokiji, Akainu, and Kizaru.
Plus countless vice admirals—Doberman, Onigumo, Momonga—and even Smoker and Hina.
Zephyr was the foundation of the Navy's new era.
Then one day, on a training voyage, pirates attacked. Nearly all his cadets died. He lost his right arm.
Now, with a Seastone prosthetic and a heart full of hate, he carried on… until today.
Until this moment—
When the man who caused his pain…
became a Warlord.
Edward Weevil.
It was too much.
"The Navy? The World Government? Justice?"
"It's all bullshit!"
Zephyr laughed like a madman, tears falling.
He was exhausted. Broken. Asthmatic.
"Admiral Zephyr, please… your health—"
Ain and Binz, the only survivors of the massacre, tried to calm him.
But the Black Arm Zephyr rose, tall and towering like steel.
He looked to the sea with burning eyes.
"I'm done with the Navy."
Gasps all around.
"But not just that," he said. "I'm going to burn this rotten world to the ground."
"You…"
"Will you follow me?!"
Ain, Binz, and the others exchanged a look. Then they stood tall.
"We'll follow you to the end, Sensei!"
"Good," Zephyr said. "From now on, we're not the World Government's dogs anymore…"
"We are the NEO-Marines!"
And just like that, another ripple formed in the timeline—
All because Chiyu had entered the story.
