Chapter 143 - Chapter 143: The Infinite Tsukuyomi

Chiyu casually handed the other Mangekyō Sharingan that had belonged to Obito Uchiha to Kakashi Hatake.

Kakashi accepted it, a mix of shock and melancholy flashing across his face.

"Obito …"

Even knowing that Obito deserved his fate, Kakashi could not help feeling sorrow.

Chiyu offered no further explanation.

"You can do whatever you like with that eye."

At the same moment, the surrounding army of White Zetsu—together with their ten‑fold split bodies and the puppet forces revived by Sasori's Reanimation—closed in once again.

Chiyu said nothing more. Takamagahara opened; the Divine Kingdom Domain unfolded, blanketing the area and instantly erasing every enemy within a kilometer.

Kakashi and Might Guy watched in speechless awe.

Power like this—isn't it practically divine?

Just then, another figure stepped forward: Tsunade. She had witnessed the scene and was equally stunned.

"As I thought—you've acquired power straight out of a dream. …But shouldn't you be locked in a decisive battle with Madara Uchiha right now?"

"I am," Chiyu replied coolly.

Tsunade's heart skipped a beat.

Fighting someone like Madara, yet still keeping an eye on the entire battlefield and shielding everyone? What kind of power is that?

Chiyu moved the topic along.

"Obito's and Orochimaru's bodies are yours to deal with. If Kakashi wants to use that power, help him."

"Understood."

"Orochimaru …" Tsunade gazed at the corpse, noticing it didn't quite match her memory of him.

"He's not that easy to kill for good," Chiyu said. "That's only one of his bodies."

Tsunade nodded.

Chiyu's figure vanished again.

Tsunade and Guy turned to Kakashi.

"Kakashi, what will you do?"

Kakashi gave a wry smile. "Even if I wanted to wield this power for Lord of the Shinobi World—and for the world itself—I'm not an Uchiha. One Mangekyō already drains my chakra and stamina; with two, I doubt I could endure …"

Guy nodded; no one knew Kakashi better than he did.

Tsunade suddenly spoke. "Perhaps not … Remember, Obito used his Mangekyō constantly and never went blind, likely because of Grandfather's cells."

"You mean the First Hokage's cells?" Kakashi asked.

"Exactly. Orochimaru once ran experiments with Grandfather's cells—killing countless innocents in the process. …Obito was an exception. And Orochimaru's body also contained Grandfather's cells."

"The reason both men could merge that power and avoid being devoured by the First's life‑force is probably the same …"

"What reason?"

"White Zetsu."

Guy looked at the distant White Zetsu army still fighting. "Those weird creatures?"

Tsunade nodded. "I don't know where they came from, but they carry Grandfather's cells—without the backlash. Obito was partly merged with a White Zetsu body. If my guess is right, Orochimaru used a Zetsu infused with the First's cells for his rebirth as well."

"In other words, both men gained the First's power indirectly through Zetsu."

"Kakashi, you could too. Guy—or anyone else—could as well."

Kakashi's heart pounded. "If that's really possible, every force in the shinobi world would grow enormously. The Allied Shinobi Forces would gain unimaginable strength."

Tsunade nodded. "True, but it needs testing and it takes time. Kakashi, you can be the first."

Kakashi fell silent for a moment, gazing at Obito's remaining eye in his hand.

"…All right."

Meanwhile

Chiyu's true body was still locked in fierce combat with Six‑Paths Madara Uchiha in front of the God Tree.

Though he was only putting on a show, Chiyu genuinely wanted to gauge Madara's current strength—and ended up disappointed.

Perhaps it wasn't that Six‑Paths Madara was weak—it was that Chiyu was simply too strong.

This Madara was weaker in Ten‑Tails resurrection than in the original timeline, yet he had almost fully combined the powers of Asura and Indra. Net result: his might should have equaled—or even exceeded—the original Six‑Paths Madara. Yet before Chiyu he was still utterly out‑matched.

Because Chiyu had spread the Fifth Shinobi World War across many fronts, the main battlefield at the God Tree held only himself and Madara.

Madara fought with everything he had.

"Limbo: Border Jail!"

With both Rinnegan restored, Madara produced four Limbo shadows and hurled them at Chiyu. Against most foes this was devastating—he had once one‑shotted all nine Tailed Beasts with a single-eye Limbo.

Unfortunately for Madara, Chiyu also wielded the Rinnegan—an even mightier version with three tomoe. To Chiyu, the Limbo shadows were just shadow clones.

He answered with clones of his own and out‑maneuvered the Limbo copies.

Madara knew Limbo would not work on a fellow Rinnegan user; the move was only to buy time so he could launch a true offensive when Chiyu's chakra was split among clones.

"Sage Art: Storm Release—Light Fang!"

A genuine grand‑path sage technique—the same ultimate move he'd fired at death's door in the original story. Now, as the Ten‑Tails' jinchūriki, Madara had awakened his full strength. A laser‑like beam of sage light blasted forth, slicing everything in its path, nothing able to block it—not even Truth‑Seeker Orbs in the original.

The terrifying part was its speed: light‑speed powered by Six‑Paths chakra.

The beam flashed toward Chiyu faster than dodgeable—yet Chiyu did not evade. With a thought he unleashed the tomoe Rinnegan's might; Takamagahara's power engulfed the field.

Divine Kingdom Domain—unfold!

Instantly, the beam's trajectory bent within the twisted space, dispersing into harmless rays before it could touch Chiyu. The domain even reflected the Storm‑Release beam back at Madara. Stunned, Madara dodged—only for the God Tree behind him to be left with a precise hole.

Madara grimaced.

"His Rinnegan technique is ridiculously flawless. …My Limbo is useless. But any technique has a weakness. Even that Takamagahara must consume enormous chakra and can't last forever. From our last fight, it seemed to hold for less than a minute … So why isn't he using that minute of invincibility to press an all‑out attack? Why only defend?"

Madara could think of only one answer: Chiyu was underestimating him. For Madara, who lived for battle, it was an intolerable insult.

"If you're strong enough to force out my full power," Chiyu said calmly, "I'll use it. Otherwise …"

He left the sentence unfinished.

Enraged, Madara shouted, "Don't be so arrogant, Chiyu! You really think I'm helpless?"

"Try me," Chiyu replied.

Madara inhaled sharply. "Very well. See for yourself—when my Eye of the Moon Plan comes to fruition!"

Chiyu's eyes narrowed. Madara looked utterly fanatical; he had made some terrible resolve.

"I originally planned to wait ten days until the God Tree bloomed on its own and then cast Infinite Tsukuyomi. Now I've changed my mind—I'll launch it immediately!"

Chiyu frowned. The God Tree lacked enough Ten‑Tails chakra to bloom instantly—unless Madara …

"You would sacrifice your own power—even at the risk of death?"

Madara laughed. "You truly are my greatest foe, Chiyu—you understand me. Yes! I'll fuse myself completely with the God Tree! My Six‑Paths power, Asura and Indra's might, the Rinnegan, the Nine‑Tails—all of it will become one with the Tree. Four days have passed already; with my sacrifice, it will bloom now and cast Infinite Tsukuyomi. Even if I lose consciousness—or my life—it doesn't matter! Once the jutsu is released, you and the entire world will drown in the dream!"

Madara pressed his body against the trunk. His power poured in; the colossal tree shot even higher, soon vanishing into the clouds. Madara's face turned deathly pale, but his eyes burned hotter.

In the shadows, Black Zetsu observed elatedly.

To think Madara would gamble everything—perfect! Mother's resurrection is at hand.

At last the God Tree reached its limit; a gigantic bud emerged atop the crown, aimed at the dusk sky. Though it was not the full‑moon phase, darkness fell across the world, and the moon appeared blood‑red and perfectly round.

Panic erupted everywhere—on every battlefield, in every land.

"Is Madara really about to succeed?!"

"No! The Lord will never fail!"

Madara's body was nearly absorbed by the tree, but his expression only grew more manic.

"Ha ha ha! Chiyu, prepare for the end! The Eye of the Moon Plan is complete! Shine upon the world—Infinite Tsukuyomi!"

A hideous scream tore from Madara as the tree devoured his last strength, yet his face remained crazed with joy. The bud split open, revealing a colossal blood‑red eye—the Rinne‑Sharingan.

Hum—

The eye opened, reflecting the crimson moon. In every corner of the shinobi world, all beings looked up and saw the pattern of the Rinne‑Sharingan in the moon's glow. Spiral rings and nine tomoe merged into a single origin—and a single end.

Blinding light burst forth, turning night into day. It pierced every hiding place, every creature—human, beast, chakra‑less civilian alike.

At once, every pupil transformed into the Rinnegan shape; all life fell into Infinite Tsukuyomi's dream. Madara, with the last of his strength, clapped his hands:

"Divine: Tree World Birth!"

Vines erupted, wrapping every living being and suspending them on the immense branches. The world fell silent—into oblivion.

And yet …

"What?!"

Madara—and Black Zetsu—stared in disbelief. Chiyu still stood, proud and untouched within his Takamagahara Domain. Infinite Tsukuyomi's light could not penetrate it.
