Chapter 2 - RETURN

On the second 12th of September 2022, the woman who had taken care of me my entire life after my father disappeared—my mother—was lying on the floor, lifeless. As I laid eyes on the gruesome scene in front of me, I was filled with fear. Fear that the one person who still remembered me in this world was about to leave me forever.

I rushed back to my room and grabbed my phone. I called 911 and told them that my mother was lying on the floor, lifeless. But the person on the other end of the line responded with, "Hello? I can't hear you." Then I remembered—people can't hear or see me unless I come in direct contact with them.

In a moment of panic, I rushed back downstairs to check on my dying mother. And that's when I saw it: a scene eerily similar to the one I had seen in the dream—a black figure resembling my mother stood atop her. The moment I came down the stairs, it looked at me and spoke in my mother's voice.

"So you can see me?" it asked.

Then, it let out a scream, as if it were calling for someone—or something. I ignored the scream and ran to the kitchen as its eyes followed me. I picked up a knife to defend myself and my mother. As I charged at it, I heard a similar scream coming from my room. I ignored that one too and ran straight for the black figure.

But just as I tried to stab it, it disappeared.

As I frantically searched the living room for it, I heard footsteps coming from my room—the same place the second scream had come from. Then the black figure reappeared right in front of me and just stared me down, as if it were looking into my very soul.

I started wondering—why hasn't it killed me the way the former black figure that resembled me did?

And then, I saw it. The creature that supposedly killed me before—the black figure that looked like me—was coming down the stairs. The moment it reached the bottom, it directed its gaze toward me.

With just a wave of its hand, it generated a gust of wind that blew me away. I managed to grab hold of my mom's body as I flew across the room. When I looked up, the female figure stood in front of me. It reached down, grabbed my mom, and in an instant—she vanished.

My mother was gone.

In a fit of rage, I leapt forward and grabbed the entity, screaming from the top of my lungs, "Give my mother back!"

And for the first time since I encountered this particular female entity, it looked at me with the eyes of a predator—as if it wanted to kill me.

Then, before I could react, the second figure—the one that resembled me—was right beside me. Before I could let go of the female one, I was split in two.

I lay on the floor, my blood gushing from my severed torso. I looked up at the black entities. They responded with a smile and said,

"There's not much longer. More people will meet the same fate as you. But for now, you shall see a moment of calm before the storm."

I died.

Or so I thought.

10th of September, 2022.

I woke up in the morning. It was 7:30 AM.

And I thought to myself...

"I feel like I'm missing something."
