Chapter 1 - Ash Reinhart

There was a deafening thunderclap, accompanied with chilling flashes of lightning and rainfall.

It echoes loudly across the city, as if God was unleashing his wrath upon humanity.

The rain poured non-stop, the heavy roar of lightning that flashes through the sky increasing its terrifying torrent.

A sleek black car pulled up gently at the other side of a Two storey building, soon after a few minutes, two figures stepped out of the car, their entire features, hidden in the shadows, almost as if the heavy rain doesn't affect them at all, they walked towards the building before them.

It was obvious, their presence had been expected already.

The door swung open for them to enter, and a man probably in his early or late fifties standing by the door, the entire room, covered in an impenetrable darkness – on purpose

The first figure let out a soft sigh that even in the darkness, one could predict the expression on his face.

"So old hag, you should know why we are here."

The old man shivers slightly, the tone of the man in darkness had sent chills running down his spine but he quickly gathered his wits. "Sorry to trouble the dark messengers but, there is no one here that meet your request."

Merely spurting out those words, he could feel his own body trembling in fear, not because of anything else but because of those standing before him – He could lose his head at any moment.

The man simply chuckled, before saying.

"You really think that would do old hag?"

"We could just search this place and find him whose name and blood is linked to the true Reinhart."

The soft voice of the man laid out– soft, calm and sinister. But such calmness alone is enough to sends trickle of shock and fear through anyone who isn't on his level of power.

"Am telling the truth."

The old man spoke again, but in that moment, he could feel the atmosphere suddenly changing rapidly — the force, drawing out of the figure before the old man made him fall on his knees.

An evil smile tucked at the corner of the man's lips. "I don't know why the Supreme ones decided to allow us give you this chance, but bear in mind the next time we visit you…"

"It's the end."

Finishing these words, they turned around to leave, but the second figure noticed something which made him pause some seconds, even if the scent only lasts a few seconds, he could sense it.

A smile tucked up his lips before walking away.

"We shall meet again Old Hag."

The words echoes out of the building.

A heavy sigh escaping his lips, not from the old man but from someone else, lurking carefully in the shadows.

Ash turn his head away from the old man resting his head on the wall behind him,

"Reinhart."

He muttered the words softly as if trying to remember some link to it but his mind couldn't just think of anything at all.

But whatever it is. He was certain it has a connection with him, from the moment they mention the name 'Reinhart', he could feel it, the longing, the way his heart did that pitter patter, almost yielding, chillingly warm and consuming. But he had managed to stay hidden without spilling too much emotions.

Ash eyes cracked open, standing up from his old wooden bed, a small room containing four individua l– younger than him, since he was the eldest child here…

He scanned the room with his brown emerald eyes before he finally finds what he is looking for. A neck chain —

Something which looks like it had been made since the start of the ages, rusty already but he always took care of it not parting with it for once.

Since that is the only item he could remember growing up with — from his step—parents, it was said to be given to him by his original parents.

So he never let it go.

He packed up a few clothes, arranging them in an orderly fashion, he made a selection for the day.

Putting on his best outfit, he flashed a smile at the mirror hanging on the wall. It is quite funny to say that — this, thin, frail and fragile robe is his best outfit but it was something only the poor like himself could think of. However if a noble blood sees him in this dress, he'd be reduced to nothing but a slum-rat in a matter of seconds.

His sleek black hair were combed gently on his head, with a part, covering the side of his face but he never care about it.

He walk out of the room, and towards a separate room in the house but his eyes fell back on the previous spot the mysterious figure were standing last night.

Since he felt a connection to it he had quickly done his research finding out that, all the names included in the orphan's list all had their last name. He is the only exception.

'That justifies everything'

He knocked twice on the door before it swung open for him, The old man stood before him.

"You made up your mind already?"

The old man said his gaze not lifting up, only focus on the ground as if trying to piece the cracks that was left on the broken ground together.

Ash only nods his head, he knew the man knows about his presence last night but for some reason he decided not to question him about it.

"I respect your decision kid, but remember it's a secret."

"Your last name."

The old man said but this time his voice was solemn with worries and fear, the fear of the outside world.

Apart from that aside from everyone else, he took Ash as his partner someone he care about most, because of his well mannered attributes which always earn him praise all day.

Ash could only nods.

Turning away, to him this place has been his home for the past 9 years and now he his finally leaving everything behind, even if they didn't contain his true blood ,

Everyone here was the only family he had, but on the same note he couldn't let them die because of him, so the best option is to leave

" You won't even say goodbye to me brother" A Young boy ran towards him, hugging him tightly from behind

Ash smile letting out a sigh of relief. He was already wondering the kind of conscience torment he would receive without bidding this best friend farewell.

He turn around crouching to the boy size " Brother have to leave now, take care of yourself and father "

The boy nod, but not only that, tears drops from his eyes as he continues hugging him, tightening his arm around him

" Go and be the best you use to be brother "

With that last word he retreat, Ash smile waving his hand at him again, before walking out of the building

" Make me proud son " The old man manage to say, tears dropping from his eyes, watching the back of Ash meters away already

He could still feel the strong scent of darkness that lurks with him which only increase his worry more
