Chapter 145 - Chapter 144: Mega Mewtwo X!

"I need to get out of here." Caleb glanced around and spoke to Team Rocket's trio, "Do you know the general location of Rocket City?"

Mewtwo couldn't afford any mishaps...

Though it was powerful, no one knew just how far this colossal organization, Team Rocket, had progressed. What worried Caleb wasn't Deoxys, but rather those immensely powerful high-tech weapons.

"We do know, but leaving might be a bit troublesome," James said.

"That's right, nyaa…" Meowth nodded, looking up at the sky and murmuring, "It's 1:30 PM right now, nyaa…"

'1:30 PM?'

Caleb froze, then raised his gaze to the sunset glow on the horizon, "How could there be a sunset at 1:30 PM?"

Jessie pursed her red lips and sighed softly, "The sky is fake. The entire Pallet Town is currently blocked by an energy barrier. There's no way for us to leave."

Caleb frowned and ordered his Dragonite, "Use Hyper Beam."

"Wuuu!"

Dragonite let out a cry, spread its wings, and soared into the air. A dazzling white beam gathered in its mouth.

Where the Hyper Beam struck, ripples of energy shimmered... but soon, everything returned to calm, as if nothing had happened.

"It's no use, we've tried many times already, nyaa," Meowth said helplessly.

"What about underground?" Caleb pressed his lips together and turned his gaze to the ground.

James shook his head, "It's the same situation underground. The only way out is through Teleport."

Unfortunately, none of their Pokémon knew that move...

'Teleport, huh...'

Caleb opened his inventory and summoned Gardevoir.

"Master," Gardevoir said gently, "How may I assist you?"

"A talking Gardevoir, nyaa?!" Meowth gasped in shock.

Caleb gave a small hum and asked directly, "Can you use Teleport to get me out of here?"

"Here?" Gardevoir sounded uncertain.

"Yes," Caleb nodded.

Gardevoir smiled gracefully and said, "Please wait a moment, Master."

As she spoke, she lifted her head slightly, her beautiful eyes glowing with a faint blue light. It seemed she was scanning the surroundings with her psychic powers.

This Gardevoir wasn't a real Pokémon, so Caleb couldn't see the exact moves she knew.

But based on its performance in the Infinite World…

Thinking back, he recalled the moves his robot had used before... She usually used Psychic for helping with household chores and Teleport to instantly reach him when needed.

Honestly, the design was quite thoughtful.

While waiting, Caleb wanted to say something to Team Rocket's trio, but when he turned, he saw Jessie staring at him with a strange expression.

Caleb: "??"

Jessie's face clearly said, I didn't know you had these kinds of preferences...

Caleb: 'No, that's not it...'

Gardevoir called him 'Master' because that was the system's default setting, he hadn't changed it himself.

Luckily, Jessie soon looked away, and Gardevoir finished scanning.

Gardevoir's personality had reverted to the gentle older sister that Caleb was most familiar with, a far cry from the cold and domineering queen she had once been.

"Master, it's possible. Would you like to leave now?"

Caleb turned to Team Rocket's trio and asked, "Do you want to come with me?"

Jessie, Meowth, and James had been stuck here for decades. They must've been itching to leave.

But surprisingly, Jessie refused...

She glanced back at Pallet Town, bathed in the sunset glow, and said, "No thanks."

"Understood." Caleb didn't press further. Before leaving, he suddenly remembered something, "Oh, do you have any messages for Ash? I can pass them along."

If what Jessie said earlier was true, then someday, he might actually meet this world's Ash... the grown-up version, no longer the ten-year-old kid.

Hearing this, Jessie and James both froze.

"Then… tell him we're sorry," Jessie said quietly.

She felt guilty for having once been part of Team Rocket.

Meowth lowered his head, saddened, "Looking back now… those days traveling all over the world with the twerp were the happiest, nyaa…"

From Kanto to Johto, then Hoenn, Unova, Sinnoh, and Kalos…

They had watched Ash grow from a bratty ten-year-old into a dependable leader of the Resistance.

"I really wanna see that Pikachu again, nyaa…" Meowth said mournfully.

"Oh, take this. It has a map of the Kanto region as it is now." Jessie removed her smart wristband and handed it over.

"Thanks. I'll tell Ash you miss him." Caleb gave a sincere nod.

He bent down to ruffle Meowth's fluffy head, then straightened up and said to Gardevoir, "Let's go."

Gardevoir gave a soft nod, her eyes shimmering with psychic energy as she Teleported them away.

"I hope he succeeds…" Jessie murmured, staring at the spot where Caleb had vanished.

Meowth: "He will, nyaa!"

....

After leaving Pallet Town, Caleb rode Dragonite at top speed toward Rocket City.

The current Rocket City was originally Celadon City. After the League Incident, Giovanni renamed it to commemorate the dawn of a new era...

Dragonite was fast.

The little yellow dot representing him zipped across the map, passing through Viridian Forest, Viridian City, Pewter City, Cerulean City.

Soon, Caleb arrived once more at Rocket City, the which was under Team Rocket's rule...

<..SHOCKING! Team Rocket's Ultimate Weapon Betrays Them?!..>

A bold, eye-catching headline skyrocketed to the top of trending searches within minutes.

Attached was a livestream link. Viewers who clicked in saw three Pokémon facing off in front of Rocket HQ.

One was Mewtwo, a sight people saw daily atop the building.

The other two were Deoxys, the DNA Pokémon from space, which were rarely seen in public...

....

~Top floor, Rocket HQ~

Giovanni's expression was dark as he stared at Mewtwo outside, coldly ordering Deoxys: "Speed Forme!"

The Deoxys blocking Mewtwo's path swiftly transformed.

As the only human who had worked with Mewtwo for decades, no one understood its power better than Giovanni.

As a man-made Pokémon, it had almost no weaknesses... Giovanni didn't dare underestimate it.

He chose not to use Rocket's latest anti-Psychic-type weapons. Though he didn't know why Mewtwo was attacking, he had no intention of harming it. Mewtwo was such a powerful Pokémon... letting it die would be a waste.

Mewtwo coldly watched the two Deoxys shift into Speed Forme.

Then, its psychic energy surged like a tidal wave. A radiant glow enveloped its body, and within that light, Mewtwo's form began changing, just like the Deoxys.

Its silhouette grew sharper, its arms bulging with explosive muscle. Moments later, a taller, stronger, and fiercer Mewtwo appeared before the world.

That was… Mega Mewtwo X!
