Chapter 2 - A barber in a different world (1)

Yao followed the stream until he finally emerged on the other side of the mountain — before him stretched a vast plain as far as the eye could see. The morning sunlight bathed his dark cloak and face, accompanied by a gentle breeze.

"Nature truly is beautiful…" Yao murmured in a calm voice.

But before he could finish the thought, a loud growl came from his stomach.

"Looks like… before I ended up in this body, I hadn't eaten for almost a week," he muttered, thinking of Ethan — the man who, despite having enough food for five people, gave it all to the 'Young Master' and the 'Miss,' leaving himself to starve.

"Such a noble sacrifice…" Yao murmured again in admiration.

He reached into the bag he had taken from a fallen enemy and found only two pieces of bread — one the size of his arm.

"This might last me two days… maybe even less."

After checking his supplies, Yao drew a knife — also taken from an enemy — and sliced the bread into three portions, one for each meal. He ate one, then continued on his way.

Along the path, he encountered many animals — some familiar, others very different from those in his previous world.

"That one… looks like a rabbit, but it has sharp horns. Seems dangerous," he noted with a frown.

Then a thought popped into his head: If I could hunt it down… I might finally get a decent meal.

"But the problem is, I don't have the fuel to cook it… and I don't know enough about it."

With that, Yao picked up a palm-sized stone, took aim, and threw it at a horned rabbit that had strayed from its group.

Whoosh!

The stone hit its mark with precision — but what happened next was beyond strange.

The rabbit reacted instantly! It stood on two legs — and even more shockingly… it caught the stone with its paw!

Its face looked… human.

It turned toward Yao and began walking toward him on two legs. Yao, now hiding, froze.

"What the hell is that?!" Yao exclaimed in pure shock, drawing his knife, ready to fight. There's no running from this… Only option is to fight.

The rabbit stopped right in front of him…

"The fk is wrong with you? I'm a rabbit, not some fking monster," it spoke. It actually spoke! Yao stood frozen, gripping the knife tightly — he'd never seen anything like it before.

"…What the hell…" he whispered, trying to gather his thoughts. A talking rabbit?

"What? What, huh?! You the dumbass who threw a rock at me?!"

Yao didn't answer. He was weighing whether to respond — or whether this was some sort of trap.

"What, cat got your f**king tongue?! Say something, dumbass!"

Eventually, Yao took the risk and replied.

"Uh… I was just hungry."

"Well then go eat some grass, dumbass! Don't go trying to eat me! Try that again and I'll bring the whole damn crew to chew you up!"

Then it ran back to its group and resumed grazing — as if nothing had happened.

Yao quickly picked up his pace and left the area. Talking's one thing… but damn, that mouth. This world really is full of wonders…
