Chapter 18 - Chapter18 Hannah is between life and death

Julie gritted her teeth as she spoke to Hannah.

Mia clenched her lips tightly, grinding her teeth without letting go.

Hannah pinched her nose with one hand and held her chin with the other, applying force with both hands.

Mia felt the pain and struggled to breathe. After two minutes of holding it in, she couldn't take it anymore and suddenly opened her mouth. William took the opportunity to pour a spoonful of fish soup into her mouth.

"Cough..." She let out a hoarse sound, which was particularly unpleasant.

Mia struggled with her hands, grabbing Hannah's arm and scratching several bloody marks. Hannah winced in pain, immediately loosening her grip and swearing, "Mia, you're crazy."

Mia rolled over, knocked the bowl from William's hands, and with all her strength, pushed against William's shoulder, knocking him to the ground.

The soup stuck in her throat, and she spat it all out, realizing that Julie's insistence on her drinking it was definitely suspicious.

"Grab her!" Julie put down the things in her hands and whispered, rushing forward to pin Mia down on the bed. Hannah seized the opportunity and raised the lunchbox to force it into Mia's mouth.

Mia couldn't scream, her body was tightly controlled, her eyes bloodshot from the urgency, and tears kept flowing down.

"Stop!" A cold voice rang out just as the fish soup was entering Mia's mouth. The door to the room was kicked open, and Ethan pushed Lambert into the room.

Hannah's hand trembled, dropping the lunchbox to the floor. Julie also released her hold and retreated, trembling.

Mia quickly sat up, spat out the fish soup in her mouth, and rushed to the bathroom. She brushed her teeth several times, but still felt uneasy. She placed her hand on her slightly swollen belly, trembling with lingering fear.

When she came out of the bathroom, she saw Hannah kneeling at Lambert's feet, crying and admitting, "I didn't know anything. I was just accompanying Uncle William to bring Mia some fish soup. It was Uncle William's idea to ease the tension between him and Mia. It really has nothing to do with me."

Mia's pale face was filled with indifference as she sat back down on the bed. After all the commotion, her already fragile body felt even weaker.

The doctor hurried in, examined her carefully, and confirmed that apart from the shock, everything else was fine. Hearing this, Mia felt relieved and lay back down on the bed.

"Master Lambert, if there's nothing else, I'll leave now," the doctor said, stepping back toward the door. Lambert needed to deal with family matters, and it was not appropriate for outsiders to remain.

"Mm." Lambert's thin lips pressed together, letting out a muffled sound.

The door shut with a soft thud, reminiscent of the gates of hell.

William, seeing Lambert's dark expression, felt a deep fear rising from within. He coughed a couple of times to break the tension and said, "Master Lambert, we came to check on Mia. She's been feeling unwell and has no appetite, so we made fresh fish soup for her. After all, I'm her biological father. I would never do anything to harm her."

William was a master of saying one thing and doing another. When Mia defied him, he had countless thoughts of sending her to face hell.

"Ethan, search," Lambert lazily commanded, propping his arms on the wheelchair, folding his hands in front of him, and fixing his icy gaze on Hannah, making her feel extremely uncomfortable.

"Yes, Mr. Wenshte." Ethan received the order and lifted William off the chair, using one hand to pull William's suit jacket off with ease.

"Let go! You're just a servant, what right do you have to touch me?" William struggled but to no avail.

"Master Lambert, even if you don't take me seriously, you still need to restrain yourself. If word gets out that your subordinate struck me, it will damage your reputation. This is a hospital, a public place, not your Wenshte Family mansion. You can't control everything here!" William shouted, clutching his stomach, refusing to let go.

Ethan delivered a punch to his mouth, knocking out a front tooth. William rolled on the floor in pain, his pleading gaze eventually turning to Mia.

"You're just going to watch me get beaten and not plead for me?" William covered his mouth and questioned Mia.

She was mute and couldn't speak, how could she plead?

Mia looked at William coldly, her eyes filled with resolution.

No, this was not the obedient Mia he knew. Mia had always obeyed him without question, and if not for her compliance, Garcia Family's mansion would not have been registered under his name years ago. It was he who had forced Mia to give up ownership of the mansion back then.

"Ethan, do I need to teach you how to punish people?" Lambert's cold voice broke the silence.

After that, William was silenced. Ethan landed several punches on William's stomach, and the pain was so intense that William passed out.

Ethan took out a share transfer document from his coat and handed it to Lambert.

"Tear it up," Lambert said casually.

Julie shrank into the corner, watching as the shares she had almost secured turned into fragments, feeling an unpleasant sting in her heart.

Hannah was about to speak when Julie shook her head at her, signaling not to provoke Lambert now.

"If you dare to have any more crooked ideas, you'll lose half your life next time," Lambert said, casting a cold glance at Hannah.

Ethan immediately understood what Lambert meant, grabbed Hannah's shoulder, and viciously drove his knee into her stomach.

"Ah!" Hannah screamed in agony, and when Ethan released her, she collapsed to the floor, unable to get up.

"Master Lambert, the contract is broken, and the person is punished, so why can't you let Hannah go? We are all powerless women, with our lives controlled by William. Whatever he says goes, we have no choice but to obey." Seeing William unconscious, Julie quickly blamed everything on him.

"Throw them out. Tell them no hospital should take them in," Lambert instructed, ignoring Julie's pleas and continuing to give orders to Ethan.

Ethan grabbed both William and Hannah, dragging them out of the room. Julie, worried about Hannah's baby, had no choice but to follow.

Outside the hospital, Ethan dumped them onto the street. As Hannah struggled to get up, a motorcycle came speeding by and crashed into her.

"Hannah!" Julie rushed to her side, pressing her hand to the wound on her forehead, her face turning pale with fear. "Help! Someone, help her! She's been in an accident!"

At the hospital entrance, despite Julie shouting until her throat was hoarse, no one paid attention to them.

"Mom, my baby." Hannah pressed her hands against her stomach, crying out. She had finally become pregnant with Jonathan's child, but now it was gone, and blood poured from her mouth, staining half her face. "I can't live anymore. I can't accept this, Mom."

"No, don't talk like that. I'll take you to the hospital right now." Julie hugged Hannah on the side of the road and, trembling, dialed Jonathan's number in the middle of the night.

"Jonathan, hurry to the hospital and save Hannah. She's carrying your child, and now she's in danger." Jonathan was the only hope left for them.

"Why are you calling me from the hospital? Hurry up and get a doctor to save the baby. What's wrong with Hannah? If anything happens to my child, I won't forgive you." Jonathan only cared about the baby.

"It's not that..." Julie explained everything clearly.

Jonathan hesitated. His relationship with Lambert had just improved. Should he offend Lambert again for Hannah?

"Dad," he muttered, holding the phone, looking at Ferguson with a troubled expression, and asking, "What should we do now?"

"That's nonsense, of course, your child is the most important. Tell her to wait, I'll send someone over to pick them up," Ferguson said, already dialing the phone.

Jonathan replied to Julie, "Wait a little longer. My dad will send someone to pick you up."

After hanging up the phone, Jonathan paced anxiously in the study.

Ferguson called his subordinates and arranged for a taxi to pick up Julie and Hannah, taking them to an apartment in the suburbs where a doctor was waiting.

"It's fine now, we'll wait outside. Let the doctor treat Hannah's wounds," Julie said, looking at her daughter, who was lying on the bed convulsing in pain, her heart aching with pity.

Whether the child was alive or dead couldn't be known by outsiders for now. She could only send Ferguson's subordinates away and leave the rest to fate.

"Doctor, you must save my child. I'll give you any reward you want if you can save my baby." Hannah grabbed the doctor's wrist tightly, gritting her teeth through the pain as she spoke.

"Don't worry, I will do everything I can to save your baby," the doctor said, breaking free from her grip and treating the wound on her forehead.

Fortunately, the external injuries weren't too serious—just some abrasions on her forehead and shoulder. With a few days of rest, she would recover.

However, the internal injuries were more severe. Ethan's blow had caused damage inside.

"Hannah, you're not pregnant. It's just your period," the doctor said after checking.

"Impossible! My period has been delayed for a long time. I felt a sharp pain in my stomach just now, and blood came out. I definitely lost my baby. I couldn't have not been pregnant!" Hannah clutched the bedsheet tightly.

No life-threatening danger was good news, but not being pregnant was bad news.

"Can you double-check? Are you sure you're not mistaken?" Hannah desperately looked at the doctor.

"You're not pregnant, Hannah. I'm sure. You just got your period. Your internal injuries are more serious, but I'll prescribe some medicine, and you'll get better in time," the doctor said, packing up his things.

Hannah sat up in shock, ignoring the intense pain in her body. She grabbed the doctor's hand and refused to let go. "Please don't tell Jonathan that I'm not pregnant."

"Hannah..." The doctor pulled his hand away, his expression changing slightly.

She hurriedly grabbed Julie's purse, took out a bank card, and shoved it into the doctor's hand. "This card has one million in it. As long as you keep it a secret, all of it is yours. I'll tell Jonathan, and you'll be the one to take care of my health. Our secret will never be exposed.

I'm a normal woman. I'm with Jonathan day and night, and getting pregnant is only a matter of time. Once I succeed, I'll give you another million. You'll be the personal doctor for the Wenshte Family's young mistress, and your salary will be much higher than it is now."
