The marble table in Thalos's penthouse study gleams under the soft glow of bioluminescent chandeliers. Around it, Vaela's team sits in a loose circle, wine glasses half-drunk, datapads glowing with quiet menace.
Vaela stands at the head of the room, arms folded, her ice-blue eyes lit by something deeper than ambition now.
She stands filled with resolved conviction.
"If we're going to build the world we want," she says calmly, "we'll need to break a few things first."
Lucien raises an eyebrow. Elsuana's fingers freeze mid-scroll. Lilith grins like a cat who'd just been told the canary bit back.
Vaela steps forward. "The biggest thing we have to break is the pyramid of greed. And at the top of that pyramid... sits Virgil DuCroix."
His name drops like ice into a hot glass.
