Chapter 148 - 147-Betrayal and Battle

Sieg walked toward the outer area, preparing to depart.

He had to admit, whoever proposed building a base here was truly clever. Who would imagine Team Rocket's headquarters hidden underneath the black market?

Even if the black market was someday raided, Team Rocket's base would likely remain undiscovered.

Who would expect another hidden location behind the already secret place?

Along the way, Sieg also purchased some Team Rocket "specialties", certain concealed weapons, hand crossbows, and specially crafted climbing boots.

This wilderness survival equipment produced by Team Rocket were all top-grade items. Sieg even acquired a spatial ring among them.

"Never expected Team Rocket's spatial equipment research to have reached this level. Perhaps even the League is no better, after all, the League still primarily promotes spatial backpacks."

Sieg looked at the ring on his left index finger, silently speculating.

Of course, it was also possible the League had developed such items but simply hadn't popularized them, gatekeeping them.

Regardless, this Team Rocket visit left Sieg shocked. Besides spatial rings, there were spatial belts and other forms of spatial equipment.

Compared to bulky and singular backpacks, these spatial devices were undoubtedly more convenient and discreet.

"However, in this Pokémon world, major powers' research into spatial equipment is truly advanced." Sieg couldn't help but sigh.

But thinking about it, weren't Pokéballs themselves a type of spatial equipment?

The most ordinary red-and-white ball cost merely a few hundred Pokédollars, yet the spatial ring in Sieg's hand contained 30 cubic meters.

Worth a full 1 million Pokédollars!

Barring unexpected circumstances, this would be his primary storage equipment for a long time without replacement.

Sieg's major expenditure naturally attracted attention.

However, this was Team Rocket headquarters. Sieg wore a Team Rocket uniform with a squad leader badge on his chest.

Therefore, though numerous covert glances observed, no one ultimately followed.

This disappointed Sieg, who'd been prepared to kill pursuers and recoup some expenses.

After leaving the headquarters, Sieg emerged from a valley. The base actually had numerous exits, ultimately leading in all directions.

Sieg retrieved his Pokédex, preparing to confirm his current location.

"Kaw kaw..."

Sieg first released Murkrow from its Pokéball, ordering it to scout ahead and survey the terrain.

Murkrow skillfully flapped its wings. Due to the nighttime hour, its harsh cries sounded extremely excited.

Just as Sieg silently awaited Murkrow's return, he suddenly became alert, sensing trouble.

He wrinkled his nose, sniffing several times to eveluate the smell.

"Sleeping powder?!"

Sieg quickly lifted his collar, covering his nose and mouth while warily scanning his surroundings.

"Hmm hmm~~ Never expected Lord Black Sky to be so young. This one finds it quite unbelievable!"

An alluring voice came from the valley exit Sieg had just used.

Sieg instantly realized he'd been followed, and hadn't even detected it!

He rapidly drew Pokéballs, releasing Crawdaunt and Sharpedo. Only then did his heart gain some sense of security.

Looking toward the figure gradually emerging from the darkness, it was that alluring woman from the earlier small room, the female Team Rocket squad leader.

Her wine-red hair appeared extremely beautiful under moonlight. Her voluptuous figure combined with a voice that made men weak was enough to captivate any man.

But Sieg wouldn't fall for this. He drew his dagger, assuming combat stance while coldly demanding: "You? Why follow me and spread this sleeping powder in the air? Didn't we agree to an alliance?"

Sieg mercilessly pointed out the woman's tracking and drugging methods, his words already carrying a hint of cold killing intent.

The woman hadn't expected Sieg to detect her methods so quickly, feeling slightly surprised.

But she still laughed: "Little Black Sky, don't be hasty. Let this big sister properly explain."

After speaking, the alluring woman tried to walk directly forward, approaching Sieg, but was greeted instead by several sharp crossbow bolts.

Watching arrows graze past her scalp and embed in a nearby tree trunk, the woman's smile became increasingly stiff. She hadn't expected her usual suggestive methods to fail today.

"Damn brat, completely unromantic!"

The alluring woman continuously cursed Sieg internally.

Usually, whenever she adopted such seductive poses and suggestive words, what man didn't eagerly fall at her feet?

Precisely because of this, combined with her mastery of Grass-type Pokémon, she'd reached squad leader position in her early twenties.

Sieg remained expressionless, but killing intent still surged in his heart. In Team Rocket headquarters, he'd always worn a mask. Now his face was exposed, creating risk of identity exposure.

Though this probability was small, even a slight chance couldn't be gambled on.

Sieg's gaze toward the alluring woman now resembled looking at a corpse.

This woman had sealed her own fate!

Perhaps sensing Sieg's killing intent, the alluring woman hastily spoke: "Little Black Sky, don't be hasty! Why not hear my explanation before acting?"

Sieg didn't care. He directly ordered: "Crawdaunt, Aqua Jet plus Razor Shell! Sharpedo, Aqua Jet plus Ice Fang!"

Both Pokémon rapidly wrapped themselves in rushing water, assaulting the alluring woman.

Seeing Sieg act without warning, the alluring woman continuously cursed him as a madman while releasing Pokémon to defend.

As Sieg had expected, the fragrance emanating from her indeed came from long-term contact with Grass-type Pokémon.

The alluring woman released four Pokémon.

One Venusaur, one Breloom, two Sunflora.

Among them, Venusaur's presence was most imposing. The energy fluctuations emanating from it rivaled Crawdaunt's, both just one step away from Elite level.

"Sunflora, both use Sunny Day!"

"Venusaur, block with Seed Bomb!"

"Breloom, activate Toxic Orb, use Mach Punch!"

The alluring woman instantly counterattacked. Her Pokémon team was quite refined, complementing each other.

Though the two Sunflora were lower level, as among the few Pokémon that could independently learn Sunny Day through leveling, they were quite popular in certain situations, like now.

The Sunny Day jointly launched by both Pokémon was extremely fast, Sieg estimated nearly as fast as Castform.

Under the sunny weather's enhancement, the originally lumbering Venusaur moved its thick legs rapidly through the valley.

"Chlorophyll ability!"

Sieg's heart jumped in alarm. He hadn't expected this Venusaur to posess a hidden ability.

No wonder she paired it with two Sunflora.

(Chlorophyll: In sunny weather, Speed doubles.)
