Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 "The Serpent's Gift"

The smell of blood in the mine had not yet dissipated, and Alyssa grasped the charred silver ring in her palm.

"Experimental Subject No. VII..." She stroked the bloody inscription on the inside of the ring. The moonlight shone through the cracks in the mine cave, illuminating Lucas' pale face. The arrow wound on the boy's shoulder glowed with a strange purple light - it was the wolf poison specially made by the Silver Wolf Clan.

Under the crystal chandelier in the banquet hall, Alyssa's black dress was embellished with broken diamonds refined from the mine. When Victor embraced Isabella and stepped onto the dance floor, she deliberately knocked over the waiter's silver wine jug.

When Grayson used a scalpel to cut out the rotten flesh, the sound of metal rubbing against bones was tooth-grinding. "This poison requires evening primrose juice." He wiped the blood mist on his lenses, "but the herbs for the entire mine were just transported to the Blood Wolf Clan's banquet last week."

"Be careful!" Cain grabbed her waist and spun her around, the wine splashing on the family emblem on his chest. The bronze necklace tattoo on the same skeleton in the mine was faintly revealed where the fabric faded. "Your heartbeat is fast." His fangs brushed her earlobe, "What are you expecting?"

Alyssa's fingertips ignited with a blue flame, which was the power of the lunar eclipse that awakened after swallowing the dagger fragments. As the flame burned the wound, Lucas let out a beast-like roar, and the silver light in his blood vessels was forced out of his body. "It seems that I don't need those weeds." She condensed the venom into ice, "Just a return gift to my dear cousin."

Isabella's scream broke the deadlock. She scratched her neck, and the bulging blood vessels under the skin were emitting a strange purple light - it was the wolfsbane that Alyssa mixed with champagne. "Help...Help me!" The cousin knelt on the ground and stretched out her festering hands to Victor.

(Isabella's name appears in the ice core)

Victor took a half step back, and a silver dagger slipped out of his sleeve. When the tip of the knife stabbed Isabella's heart, Alyssa's flames devoured the blade first. Amid the exclamations of the crowd, she stepped on Victor's shoulder and leaned over to whisper: "The game has just begun, fiancé."

On the day when the black flag of the Blood Wolf Clan appeared at the mine, Alyssa was smelting silver ore.

Kane's boots rolled over the charred corpse, and the golden wolf embroidered on his cloak came to life in the blood moon. When his fingertips lifted Alyssa's chin, the smell of sulfur mixed with tequila hit her face: "I heard there are little gray wolves here that only bite people?"

"Not as obedient as your pet dog." She looked directly into the amber eyes and found that the pupil of the right eye was vertical, a wolf-like feature.

Kane suddenly grabbed her neck and pressed her next to the furnace, with hot molten iron surging just around the corner: "Do you know how to tame wild wolves?" His thumb rubbed the crescent birthmark on her collarbone, "Break their spines, and then..."

Burning pain exploded from the birthmark, and Alyssa's pupils instantly ignited blue flames. Kane groaned and let go, and green smoke floated out of the charred wound on his palm: "Lunar Eclipse Fire?" He licked the wound and laughed softly, "So the sacrifice the old guys were looking for is here."

(Kane's saliva heals wounds quickly)

That night, the sound of iron chains in the mine dungeon continued all night long.

When Alyssa buried the icy stinger into the guard's heart, Grayson was dissecting a mixed-blood corpse. "This is the seventh one." He lifted the corpse's left arm, and the number VII appeared under the skin. "All the test subjects have had vampire heart tissue implanted."

Suddenly, there was a roar of an iron door opening from deep in the dungeon. Kane leaned against the bloodstained rack, with three bodies of Silver Wolf spies lying at his feet. "Want evening primrose?" He threw a bloodstained invitation, "You can get it from Victor at the Blood Moon Banquet tomorrow night."

The gilded emblem on the invitation stung her fingertips—it was the background of the poison bottle that Isabella had replaced. Alyssa threw the letter into the brazier and watched the bat pattern twist into a wolf's head in the flames: "I need a decent dress."

"It's been prepared." Kane pulled open his cloak, revealing the hideous scar on his back - which matched her birthmark perfectly. "After all, we have to act well... lovers who meet again after a long separation."

("Dedicated to My Number VII" is embroidered on the inside of the cape)
