Chapter 283 - Chapter 284: The Day of Ace’s Execution

"How could this happen? Why did the ships in the shipyard collapse all at the same time!"

Paulie shouted loudly in question.

The commotion drew more and more citizens, as well as reporters from all sides.

Galley-La Company was a top shipbuilding company. In its history, such a mistake had never once happened.

It was easy to imagine that if such news were released, it would undoubtedly be a huge, sensational headline.

The shipyard was now in complete chaos.

"Damn it!"

Paulie was exhausted dealing with the aggressive reporters.

"These cracks… there's no mistaking them…" After Jotaro inspected all the ships at the scene, he found that every crack was the same.

Navy Rokushiki's Shigan.

Garp, Akainu, both had used this kind of combat technique before, so Jotaro remembered it clearly.

"Looks like government people meddled in this…" Jotaro muttered to himself.

"What did you say?" Paulie didn't hear clearly.

Jotaro ignored him. His gaze swiftly swept across the gathered crowd, and suddenly he realized something.

Without caring about Paulie's shouting, he rushed out at once.

"What's going on?" Shinobu and the others, seeing this, didn't linger and quietly followed behind him.

"This accident was deliberately caused, the purpose being to attract everyone's attention."

Jotaro frowned, his pace quickening even more.

"Where are we going now?" Robin followed closely behind and asked.

"Galley-La Company. I think their target is Iceburg."

The entire shipyard had collapsed, such a huge incident had happened, yet Iceburg still hadn't shown up.

Jotaro couldn't help but grow suspicious.

After all, Iceburg was a pretty good partner. He couldn't just watch something happen to him.

"Extra! Extra!" A news bird flew overhead, shouting, "The Pirate King Roger actually has a child still alive in this world!"

BOOM!

With that explosive headline dropped, the entire Water 7 instantly fell into a strange silence, then erupted in uproar.

"What? That sinful man still has a child?"

"The bloodline of the Pirate King still exists in this world?"

"Impossible! Weren't all people related to the Pirate King executed?"

———

The Pirate King Roger had long been demonized by the World Government, and everything related to him was no exception.

Ordinary civilians, upon hearing this news, immediately fell into unease.

The crowd that had been blocking the shipyard just moments ago dispersed instantly, all rushing off to buy newspapers.

"The son of the Pirate King Gol D. Roger is Fire Fist Ace, Second Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates!"

"He was arrested not long ago and imprisoned in Impel Down, and today is the day of his execution!"

"To rescue Ace, the Whitebeard Pirates will surely head to Marineford!"

"A war between the Navy and the Whitebeard Pirates is about to break out!"

This news was even more explosive than the last.

The newspapers in the press office were swept away in an instant.

Nami stole a copy off a passerby and muttered to herself, "Two hours until Ace's execution. Will the Whitebeard Pirates really go to Marineford? That's Navy Headquarters!"

Jotaro's expression darkened. With his understanding of Whitebeard, this man, for the sake of rescuing his comrade, even if he knew what awaited him was a sea of blades and flames, he would still charge forward without hesitation.

Whitebeard had once helped him. He didn't want to owe him a debt.

"Galley-La Company is on fire, hurry and help put it out!"

Flames blazed from the tall building. Iceburg, covered in blood, lay on the cold floor, his consciousness on the verge of collapse.

He never imagined that his loyal and diligent secretary would turn out to be a government spy.

Not only that, they also knew about Franky's existence.

Bang!

Jotaro moved swiftly, kicking open the door with one strike. Grabbing Iceburg, he leapt straight out the window.

"Is Iceburg alright?"

Paulie shoved through the crowd and hurried over.

Compared to the war between Whitebeard and the Navy, he cared more about his boss.

"What the hell is going on? First the shipyard collapses, now Galley-La's building is on fire."

"Could it be that the war between the Whitebeard Pirates and the Navy really means the world is about to fall into chaos?"

This wasn't only Paulie's thought, it was the voice of everyone present.

After all, the impact of Whitebeard's matter was simply too great.

Jotaro couldn't be bothered with these irrelevant connections.

"Iceburg should have been attacked. His body has signs of being beaten!"

Hearing this, Paulie immediately noticed, and roared furiously, "Who? Who would attack Mr. Iceburg!"

"Damn it, if I catch them, I'll make them pay!"

"This kind of thing, we'll know once Iceburg wakes up." Jotaro looked to Shinobu at his side. "Shinobu."

A glance said it all.

She nodded, signaling Paulie to step aside, not to get in the way here.

"I'm a doctor. Leave him to me." she said softly.

"Oh." Paulie obediently stepped back. Toward this conservatively dressed woman, he still showed quite a bit of respect.

As he did, he glanced at Nami's proud chest, his face turning slightly red.

"Truly shameless!"

Nami, "..."

She retorted unhappily, "Instead of saying that, shouldn't you hurry and send people to catch the culprit?"

"According to JoJo's deduction, the culprit is someone from inside your ranks."

Paulie's face froze in shock, "Impossible! Why would shipwrights do something like this?"

"What if they aren't shipwrights?" Jotaro reminded him.

"Cough, cough, cough!"

Shinobu's medical skills were skillful. Not even three minutes later, Iceburg coughed violently, spat out blood phlegm, and slowly opened his eyes.

"Mr. Iceburg! Who was it that attacked you!" Paulie immediately asked anxiously.

"Fr… Frank… Franky!" Iceburg tightly grabbed his arm. "Quick, go find Franky!"

"That bastard?" Paulie didn't even think, instantly taking his men, storming toward the dismantling shop run by the Franky Family.

Iceburg's eyes widened in alarm, he wanted to say more, but Paulie only left him a distant back view.

Jotaro stepped in between them, directly asking, "Why would government people attack you? If I'm not mistaken, Galley-La is the government's official shipbuilding company, right?"

"You… how… did you know?" Iceburg looked shocked.

Jotaro couldn't help but recall, when they were discussing cooperation earlier, Iceburg had especially warned him to keep it secret.

And before deciding to do business with Iceburg, Jotaro had also inquired about some past matters of Water 7.

Various pieces of information interwove in his mind, finally connecting into one.

"Your teacher Tom once built a ship for Roger. Before the government executed him, did he perhaps leave something important with you?"

Iceburg stared blankly at him.

Jotaro's guess was already not far from the truth.
