Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 003

Good morning Uncle, Lewis greeted Mr. Davidson. "Yes, fine morning, how did you sleep", he asked. Very well Uncle.

Lewis had stayed at Mr. Davidsons place for the night because he wanted to see Denise who would be coming later in the day.

"Are you going right away?" Mrs. Davidson asked, her voice came from the direction of the kitchen. She had woken up very early to make breakfast for everyone especially for Lewis who she taught would be going very early.

"No ma, I will go later in the day, can I take the kids to school today?" Lewis asked, "That would be great and a big relief, I seriously have to reach for a presentation at work today" Mrs. Davidson answered. In case, you don't come back to find me I will keep your food at the dining table, if you wish to warm it again, you can ask Denise, the house help to do it for you" she reiterated.

Okay, I will do just that ma. Have a safe trip to work", Lewis said as he made his way towards the children to help prepare them for school.

Good morning, Uncle Lewis, the kids said, their voice going together as though they had planned to greet Lewis the same time and at same pace. "good morning to you kids, I hope we are excited for school today?, Lewis asked the kids, they answered excitedly whiles they jumped out of the bed to go take their bath".

Lewis prepared their uniform while they took their bath.

It didn't take long before Lewis had prepared the kids for school. He took them to the dinning after mom had told them that breakfast was ready. They all took their meal including Lewis. Lewis took the children to school while Mr. Davidson went to work. Mrs. Davidson had to prepare for work after saying her goodbyes to the kids.

They happily hopped in into Lewis car, they both were struggling the front seat before Lewis settled by giving the front seat to the youngest one, fixed her seatbelt before going to open the gate.

"Okay let's go". Lewis said as he started the car. The gate guard opened the gate and Lewis drove passed the gate.

He didn't stay long since the children school were not far from the house. He started heading back to Mr. Davidson place, along the road he saw Denise and offered to give her a lift to work.

She reluctantly accepted.

"Come on in" Lewis said, Denise entered with a faint smile. "How are you?" she asked, flaunting her hair toward the back, she gave a shy smile while she threw her face towards the window.

"I am good, thank you, I hope you are doing very well too" Lewis responded.

"Yeah, I am" Denise said. They kept conversing until they got home. Mrs. Davidson was already on her way to work, so they both wished her a safe trip to work. Mrs. Davidson asked Lewis to send greetings to his mom on her behalf before she drove off to work.

I am been meaning to ask you something, I saw your boss preparing breakfast this morning, isn't it part of your work?" Lewis asked.

Oh, about that, Mrs. Davidson loves preparing her breakfast for the family by herself, she said it makes her feel her responsibility of motherhood. She instructed to come usually at this time, thanks to you I arrived earlier, Denise answered Lewis.

Okay, that's cool, do you usually trek from your place to work?" Lewis asked with a more curious facial expression.

No, just that I didn't have enough money to take a cab to and fro from work, so I decided to keep the one I had against when I want to head back home, Denise answered.

"That fine, I waited to see you, it was more as though I couldn't stop thinking about you, I really had a nice time yesterday even if it wasn't a physical meeting" Lewis said and looked more confident than the last time they had spoken.

Denise giggled, stop flattering me" she said throwing her face slowly to the ground. "I did enjoy my time too" Denis concluded.

Lewis got his things and said his goodbyes. He had given Denise money to use for her transportation for some time.

"Take care of you" Lewis said as he went off through the door.

"Hello guys, don't tell me you were sited here since you called me" Lewis said to his friend whom he had come to see from his Uncles place.

Not really Lewis", Jack responded. How have you been doing all this while" Jack continued.

"Not much, there is this very beautiful lady that I can't stop thinking, she is about 5.7ft tall, dark and hardworking" Lewis answered his friends with a big grin.

"Serious, you have used your eyes to measure how tall she is, you must me obsessed with her", Jack said.

Not just that bro, but I love her and I think I am going to ask her to be my girl on our first date" Lewis said while his friends laughed so hard that Lewis started wondering if what he had said was funny.

"I am serious guys, really, I don't want to dull around, she is special and I am going to get her', Lewis concluded.

Well, sure you will, his friends said. The conversation continued with more laughter. Lewis had planned on visiting his mom later but he had to meet Mr. Bruno, someone who deals on Crypto for a business deal.

"Guys, I have some place to be, enjoy yourselves", Lewis offered to pay the bills for all they had ordered, but Jack stopped him and said he would take care of it.

Lewis adjusted his tie, feeling a mixture of excitement and anticipations as he made his way to the café where he was supposed to meet Bruno. The two had known each other just recently, before Bruno contacted him they were strangers. However, that was about to change.

As Lewis entered the café, he spotted Bruno sitting at a corner table, scrolling through his phone. Bruno looked up and waved, a broad smile on his face. He stood up as Lewis approached,

"Lewis, it's good to see you," Bruno said as they both took their seats. "I've been looking forward to this conversation."

"Me too," Lewis replied, though he was still trying to gauge just how serious this proposal would be. "You sounded pretty excited when you called. What's the deal?"

Bruno leaned in, lowering his voice slightly, as if to heighten the sense of intrigue. "You know the market has been volatile, but that also means there's potential for high returns if you play it right. I've been doing some research, and I think we have a real opportunity here."

Lewis nodded, listening carefully. "Go on. I'm interested in learning more, but I'm cautious. There's a lot of noise out there."

"Exactly," Bruno said, his eyes lighting up. "And that's where the opportunity lies. Most people jump on trends without understanding the technology or the market. But I've found a new project—something under the radar that has the potential to blow up. It's not just about the currency itself, but the platform and the real-world applications it's aiming to solve."

Lewis took a sip of his coffee, considering Bruno's words. "So, what's your plan? How do you see us getting involved?"

Bruno pulled out his tablet and opened a presentation he had prepared. "I'm proposing we invest early, before the mainstream catches on. I've already made some small investments, and the returns have been promising. But I want us to do this together, pooling resources to maximize our impact. We'll start small, monitor the trends, and gradually increase our stake as we learn more."

Lewis leaned back, the gears in his mind turning. He had always been cautious with his investments, but Bruno's enthusiasm was contagious. The promise of being part of something innovative and potentially lucrative was hard to resist.

"I'm intrigued," Lewis finally said. "But I need to understand more. This can't just be a leap of faith—I need to see the data, the research, and the projections. If I'm going to commit, I want to make sure we're making an informed decision."

Bruno nodded eagerly. "Of course. I've got all the information you need. Let's schedule another meeting where I can walk you through everything in detail. I promise you won't be disappointed."

They wrapped up their meeting with a handshake, agreeing to meet again in a few days to delve deeper into the specifics. As Lewis left the café, he felt a sense of anticipation building. This could be the start of something big, and he was eager to see where it would lead.

Later that afternoon, Lewis decided to visit his mother. It had been a few weeks since his last visit, and he missed her calming presence. He drove to the house where he had grown up, memories of his childhood flooding back as he turned onto the familiar street.

But as he approached the house, something felt off. There was a car in the driveway that he didn't recognize, and as he parked, he heard raised voices coming from inside. A knot of anxiety formed in his stomach as he hurried up the steps and opened the door.

Inside, the scene was chaotic. His mother stood in the living room, her face flushed with anger. Across from her was his father, the man who had walked out on them years ago, leaving behind nothing but pain and unanswered questions? Lewis hadn't seen him in years, and the sight of him now, standing in their home, was like a punch to the gut.

"What are you doing here?" Lewis demanded, his voice cold as ice. He moved to stand beside his mother, shielding her from his father's presence as much as he could.

His father turned to face him, his expression a mix of anger and defensiveness. "I came to talk to your mother. We have unfinished business."

Lewis clenched his fists, trying to keep his temper in check. "You lost the right to talk to her when you walked out on us. You can't just show up here and expect things to be okay."

"Lewis, it's not that simple," his father started, but Lewis cut him off.

"No, it is that simple," Lewis shot back, his voice shaking with barely controlled rage. "You left us, and you don't get to just walk back into our lives whenever you feel like it. You don't get to hurt her again."

His father's face hardened, but Lewis didn't give him a chance to respond. "You need to leave. Now. And don't ever come back. If you care about her at all, you'll stay away and let her move on with her life."

There was a long, tense silence as his father looked between Lewis and his mother, as if trying to find some way to justify his presence. But finally, he seemed to realize there was no point in arguing. Without another word, he turned and walked out the door, the sound of it closing behind him echoing through the house like a finality.

Lewis stood there, his heart racing, as his mother reached out to touch his arm. "Thank you, Lewis," she said softly, her voice filled with a mix of relief and sorrow. "I didn't know what to do when he showed up."

"You don't have to thank me, Mom," Lewis replied, his voice gentler now. "I'm just sorry he put you through this."

They sat down together on the couch, the weight of what had just happened hanging in the air. Lewis held his mother's hand, determined to protect her from any more pain. No matter what happened, he wouldn't let his father hurt them again.
