Chapter 17 - So Talented That He Is Useless

The crystal moved, appearing right in front of Spark.

Looking at Spark's extraordinary visage, all the masters had already deemed him a talent. They silently rubbed their hands in anticipation, as greedy gazes focused on him.

Spark, for the most part, had begun feeling slightly panicked. To him, this talent appraisal had gone too smoothly. With the extraordinary talent everyone had shown, it had built the expectations of all the masters to an all-time high.

And if things were to go according to a xianxia script, it was he—who was the last and most highly anticipated—that would most likely become a dud.

As though to further jinx him, Master Tian Wuxi spoke up, "When we first arrived, this one in particular had the fiercest aura. He must be the most talented!"

'Sigh! It seems I'm the MC of this script after all… it's about time I faced my rejection arc,' Spark sighed internally. Though he looked glum, in truth he was very excited.

After all, which MC didn't have a cheat-like skill? Even if there's no skill, there had to be a lucky encounter—or at least a ring-dwelling master.

Nodding, he thought, I wonder which it will be…

Unfortunately for Spark, this wasn't just any xianxia—this was reality.

The crystal illuminated his figure, taking its time to scan him.

Time seemed to pause as all eyes from above and below were on him. Even the paralyzed heroes and villains couldn't help but look.

After all, who was Spark?

He was a menace in their world who had run amok unimpeded. No one among them could confidently say they could take him one-on-one and win.

Even the Aegis Nine sometimes had to enlist his help—whether they liked it or not—if a task was beyond their capacity.

Apart from the name Hero of Depraved Justice, among heroes he was known as the Greatest Mutant.

If the likes of him had reached Zenith, then even his father Gravon might not have been his match.

And finally, after a few seconds that felt like hours, the crystal spilled its appraisal. It also seemed to have lost most of its luster—the task had clearly taken its toll.

No sect can cultivate such talent!]

'Wait! This is not how the script is supposed to go,' Spark wondered, astonished by his own brilliance.

As for the others and what they were feeling?

Total madness!

Absolute absurdity!

Such talents made everyone on sight begin to question their existence—even the masters.

'How the hell can such a being exist?' the ever-silent Master Lung Jun wondered incredulously.

"How unfortunate. He might be the most talented, but he must also be the most useless," Master Cao Ming stated.

The others, though regretful, couldn't help but agree.

As talented as the boy seemed, he looked like a hot cake—but unfortunately, this hot cake was too hot; they didn't dare eat it.

After all, after some slight scans, they had concluded that though these outsiders were human just like them, they lacked the necessary organs needed to cultivate: a dantian seed and a spirit root.

But though these young lads lacked them, the masters didn't mind. After all, back in the Primeval Era when humans had just started cultivating, no one had such organs; rather, they created them themselves.

Doing such feats now, though it would cost an unfathomable amount of resources, they decided to do it anyway.

No matter how bank-breaking it may seem, in the long run, the benefits of having such geniuses in their sects would offset the loss.

But for a physique like Spark's, creating a dantian and spirit root that might suit him was impossible for them.

Let's not even speak about the overwhelmingly absurd resources it would take to construct a suitable spirit root and dantian—even if someone were to miraculously supply the resources needed, they still wouldn't be able to build one.

It wasn't about resources anymore; it was just the simple, plain fact that their ability was too lacking to pull off such a feat.

Just as everyone came to the same conclusion, a sinister thought grew at the back of their minds simultaneously, 'If we can't have him, then no one can.'

Some masters had already begun releasing a bone-chilling killing intent—so fierce that lacerations began appearing on Spark's skin.

And in just a few seconds, his figure had already become bloodied.

'Fuck—this plot deviated too quickly!' Spark screamed mentally.

Meanwhile, far above in the skies, in the vast starry void of space, a man stood in the void.

His figure radiated a noble aura—one that would make any creature bow without him asking. His face was coated in a misty haze, making his appearance elusive.

He stood bare-chested, as if showcasing his glistening tanned skin for all to see, with flowing dark hair—so dark even the light of the nearby Sun-Feather Sun was unable to illuminate it.

And just behind him, a vague figure projected itself.

"Jitian Yudi! How dare you come into my territory—and not only that, you dare obstruct my view! What exactly are you hiding?" the Divine Crow Empress questioned, her words laced with rancor.

But unfortunately, the Human Emperor remained still, not replying; he seemed occupied with something.

"You lowly humans have begun running amok in recent years. I don't care what you're planning, but I won't tolerate such blatant disrespect… First one of you stole my sunlight, and now you're obstructing my view from locating them—and now you're also trespassing into my space!"

Her words boomed, each ringing out like an imperial verdict.

Unfortunately, the Human Emperor remained unfazed, treating her as though she were air.

"How dare you ignore me!" she screeched.

The entire Sun-Feather Sun trembled violently as a world-destroying aura spread out. Right then, a mighty sword surfaced from the sun slowly.

A sword of pure gold, coated with ancient runes and mystical patterns—it was so mighty that the Human Emperor looked like an ant before it.

And slowly but surely, the sword pierced through the void, aiming to evaporate the Human Emperor, who just stood still as though he didn't notice it coming.

And just when it was inches away from approaching him, he turned, finally facing the vague figure of the Three-legged Crow Empress.

"You owe me three favors after today. Let's make it two."

After saying this, the sword froze in place, as the Empress asked, "Are you sure?"

The Human Emperor didn't bother to reply. He just turned back, continuing to seemingly stare at Tianxue Jingjie—but if one looked closely, his eyes were focused on the southern wastelands. Specifically, the battlefield where Spark was about to be annihilated.

Seeing his lack of response, the Empress just scoffed and vanished along with the sword, as though they were never there in the first place.

Meanwhile, the Human Emperor was thinking, 'Such a talent—I can't let these short-sighted fools kill him.'

Pondering for a bit, he seemed to have a thought 'Let's see how he would fare in the mortal lands.'

Then, with a slight wave, Spark vanished from the midst of the masters, and a dreadful voice carrying unquestioned authority rang across all their minds:

"Hurt him and I will exterminate you and your families—to your ninth generation!"

With that done, the Human Emperor turned around and walked away, strolling easily as though this wasn't a void that could kill a tribulation realm expert if they so much as ventured close.
