Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Bruk!

A medium-sized wooden box was thrown unceremoniously by one of the guards at God Mervous.

The box hit God Mervous right in the stomach.

"Stop the drama and pretense of your illness. You only have a short time to treat it. Then get back to work!"

The bodyguard left without mercy. He did provide an antidote for the wounds all over God Mervous' body only for the man to add new ones.

"Maybe you need this."

God Mervous lifted his face, Endrick came and met him again.

"They are like that. They have nothing to lose in giving you a ride. So when you're injured and they think you're going to fall then they'll give you medicine right away."

Despite the explanation, God Mervous still did not fully understand it all. The question of why he was thrown into the body of the physically weak man still loomed over his head.

"Have faith. These medicines are effective. You just need to rub this oil on your body."

The man seemed to care deeply for God Mervous. It seemed Endrick used to be very familiar with the man who possessed a real body.

"But, I must admit Kayrus. You are very good. Where did you get all those changes from? You're really extraordinary. You dared to yell at them. No one else dared to do that."

Just as God Mervous was about to raise his voice, the loud voices of the guards could be heard calling out to him. "Endrick! You ignorant slave! Where are you going!"

Hearing that, Endrick immediately got up and handed God Mervous the wooden cup filled with water.

"We are just slaves who must serve their every request. Don't do anything else or you'll be even more miserable." Endrick seemed to warn, before he finally left.

Cletak!

God Mervous could hear that Endrick was currently being tortured by those bastard guards for running away from his duty just to give God Mervous some water to drink.

"What the hell is going on? Why am I in this place?"

That question continued to haunt God Mervous' mind. He simply did not understand everything that had happened.

What was the meaning of all this? What was the purpose of all this?

It was all completely incomprehensible to God Mervous.

He then opened the bottle of oil, smearing it along his body.

"Ganggani Oil."

God Mervous was certain that the oil came from the Ganggani tree which was then processed into such oil.

Ganggani was one of the most powerful medicinal trees indeed.

"But, how did they get this? Only certain people can have this oil."

Before the question was out of his head, one of the guards came back to see him.

"Have you forgotten who you are? Only a slave but acting like a god. Quick! Get back to work. And take this!"

The bodyguard then threw an axe, shattering the temple near God Mervous' bed.

"Go to the east. You will find slaves like yourself, working there."

The guard left after God Mervous got up with the axe in his hand.

Although he felt that all of this was unfair to him. However, God Mervous could do nothing else but just follow whatever happened to his destiny at that time.

God Mervous walked eastward according to the instructions he received. The slaves who were dressed the same as him were seen trying hard to smash a large rock with a large axe like the one he had.

"Hey! You! Why are you just standing there?! Get to work! You want to be lazy!"

The bodyguards arrived and immediately greeted God Mervous for the man who was just standing there.

If only, God Mervous' powers were still in effect, he vowed to annihilate those evil people.

God Mervous approached the stone began to raise the axe in his hand and did the work as some of the others had done.

The man was completely unfamiliar with this. He seemed to have a hard time doing it.

Until the stone finally broke apart, angering the bodyguard who was watching him.

"Can't you work properly?! You stupid slave! Instead of easing the work you're destroying it!"

Plak!

God Mervous was again severely punished for doing such a poor job. The man could only remain silent and accept the mistreatment of the bodyguards.

"Cuih! You deserve all this. You don't know yourself! It's still good that we're willing to accommodate a stupid human like you. Now, you're making a mess of it!"

God Mervous fell to the floor. He wiped a trail of blood from the corner of his lips.

No one cared. Everyone left God Mervous alone because they were afraid of the guards who were staring at them.

A short while later...

The rest time for them was heard loudly announced by the bodyguards.

The countless number of bodyguards allowed the news of the break to spread quickly in the ears of the slaves.

"All head to the dining hall!"

The slaves flocked to the dining hall. The turmoil in their stomachs made them all look like bloodthirsty zombies.

Jostling for food as quickly as possible.

So much work interspersed with small tortures on their bodies made all the slaves feel very hungry.

As everyone rushed to the dining hall, God Mervous seemed to be walking in the opposite direction.

He was not at all interested in the mealtime announced by the guards.

Everyone seemed to be in the dining hall so God Mervous did not want to lose the opportunity to choose for himself.

The man then stopped at a large tree. He leaned against it for a long time.

The thought that kept haunting him came back to his head. "What exactly is happening right now? Why am I in this body? Why is there no explanation for this? Have I committed a great sin?"

God Mervous felt confused by everything that happened to him. He did not understand what had made him this way.

He did not know how he could wake up in a state of already being in someone else's body. "Then this body? Why am I in this weak man's body? What is this all about?"

That question had a dizzying effect on God Mervous' head. He really did not understand everything.

The man then tried to calm himself down.

Slowly, his eyes began to close letting the wind hit his face.

"You did not eat?"

God Mervous opened his eyes. After discovering who the voice belonged to, he closed his eyes again.

"You shouldn't be like this. You are just an ordinary human. If you do not eat, you will perish."

He was Endrick. The only foreign man who God Mervous felt cared so much for the man he knew as Kayrus.

When in fact, the man had already lost Kayrus. Who knew where Kayrus' true soul was at this moment.

"Take this. I brought this for you. I know, you must be hungry too."

Endrick spoke again. This time, he brought two apples wrapped in a worn handkerchief.

"They won't allow food to be brought out. That's why I had to wrap them in this ratty handkerchief."

Endrick displayed a grin.

"Hurry up and eat. There's no need to feel ashamed. You're just a human who needs food."

God Mervous did not seem to want to argue. He then took one of the apples that Endrick had given him.

The two of them were seen sitting against the big tree.

"Kayrus. I've noticed a different you lately. What's wrong? Is everything alright?"

Endrick asked with his mouth still chewing.

God Mervous then turned his gaze to the man beside him.

He then seemed to correct his sitting position trying to face the man in front of him.

"Where exactly are we? Why does everything seem unfair like this? Why are we forced to be slaves here? What kind of place is this?"

Instead of giving an answer, God Mervous asked Endrick a question back.

Endrick was silent, either he did not know what to answer or the man was deliberately hiding something from God Mervous.

Noticing Endrick's silence, an idea popped into God Mervous' head. He then immediately said that to Endrick.

"I know, you are also tormented here. Everyone is in the dining room. Come, come with me. We must escape from this evil place. Come with me," God Mervous held out his hand to his friend.

Endrick seemed to round his eyes, stuttering as he said. "Escape?"
