Chapter 71 - The Miracle of love

The Thirst of the Heart

A beautiful morning had begun.

After the rain of the previous night, there was a strange freshness in the atmosphere of Abu Dhabi. On one side, beautiful flowers seemed to smile as they slowly opened their colorful petals, while in the open skies, birds chirped joyfully, diving and soaring through the waves of the wind.

The sun's rain-kissed golden light was gradually spreading across the city, transforming Abu Dhabi into something that looked like a magnificent work of art. The rain-washed roads, towering glass buildings, green trees, and the vast blue sky stretching into the distance—all seemed to speak of the beauty of a new morning.

The preparations in the room were almost complete as well.

Richer walked slowly toward the wardrobe. He picked up the bottle of perfume lying there, opened the cap, and lightly sprayed the fragrance over his clothes.

Soft waves of fragrance spread throughout the room.

Instead of putting the perfume away immediately, Richer looked at himself in the mirror for a moment.

He adjusted his hair, glanced at his outfit, and then smiled faintly.

At the other end of the room, Ramish stood silently watching him.

There was a soft smile on his lips as well.

Then, in such a low voice that perhaps only his heart could hear, he murmured,

"He looks at himself in the mirror with so much admiration... and he doesn't even notice how the mirror is looking at him."

He paused for a moment, then smiled and said,

"Don't let the mirror cast an evil eye on you."

Richer seemed to have caught a few of his words. He turned toward Ramish in surprise.

"Did you say something?"

Ramish innocently shook his head.

"No... I didn't say anything."

Richer studied him for a few moments.

"I thought you were saying something."

A mischievous smile appeared on Ramish's lips.

Richer closed the perfume bottle and placed it back on the wardrobe.

Then, for some reason, he picked up the perfume again and walked toward Ramish.

There was something strangely effortless about his steps.

He stopped close to Ramish and softly said,

"Ramish... come here. Let me put some perfume on you too."

Ramish smiled faintly and stepped closer.

Richer lightly sprayed the perfume onto Ramish's clothes.

Then, smiling, he said,

"Ramish, this is my favorite perfume. I really love its fragrance."

Ramish looked at him.

Then, for reasons even he could not explain, he reached out and gently lifted Richer's chin, bringing his face toward him.

For a moment, Richer's eyes met Ramish's.

Ramish spoke softly.

"And I love the fragrance that comes from you more than anything."

A shy blush immediately spread across Richer's face.

He lightly hit Ramish's arm.

"You really are something..."

He quickly stepped back.

He picked up the perfume bottle and began putting it away, but he could not hide the beautiful smile spreading across his lips.

Ramish continued watching him.

A few moments later, Richer came back toward him.

"Shall we go downstairs?"

Ramish gestured toward the door with a smile.

"Please."

The two of them slowly left the room and stepped into the elevator.

As the elevator doors closed, silence settled between them for a few moments.

Richer finally broke the silence.

"Ramish, let's have breakfast at the hotel today."

Ramish looked at him.

With a slight smile of regret, Richer continued,

"I wanted us to have breakfast at Observation Deck at 300 and again enjoy the beautiful view of the city from above. But we're already late. Maybe there isn't enough time to go there now. So we'll have breakfast here today."

Ramish smiled.

"That's alright."

Then he looked at Richer and said,

"For me, the most beautiful view is you. And I feel like I could just keep looking at you forever."

Richer remained silent for a few moments.

The elevator was descending floor by floor, yet it felt as though something inside Richer's heart was rising.

No matter how much he tried, he could not stop Ramish's words from finding their way into his heart.

The elevator finally reached the ground floor.

The doors opened, and the two stepped out with quiet smiles on their faces.

Beyond the hotel's enormous glass wall, the morning of Abu Dhabi was shining in all its glory.

Richer looked outside and smiled.

"The view outside is much more beautiful than I am."

Then he pointed toward the city.

"Look. There are beautiful buildings, greenery, and the sea. You should be looking at all of that instead of me."

Instead of answering, Ramish took Richer's hand.

He led him toward the large glass wall, where the entire city could be seen clearly.

Then Ramish looked into Richer's eyes and said,

"To me, your face shines brighter than the morning light."

Richer fell silent.

There was that same love in Ramish's voice again—the kind of love Richer tried to run from, only to find himself drawing closer to it with every passing moment.

Ramish spoke softly.

"Are your eyes any less beautiful than a magnificent sea? If someone dives into their depths even once, so, will he be able to break free from the spell of those beautiful eyes?

Richer's gaze remained fixed on Ramish's face.

Ramish's words seemed to knock upon his heart one by one.

"And your lips..."

Ramish smiled faintly.

"They are softer and more delicate than rose petals."

"When your lips speak, they carry a fragrance like flowers."

Richer's heartbeat quickened.

Ramish noticed the smile spreading across his face and continued,

"And this smile that appears upon your cheeks..."

He paused for a few moments.

"It is like the colors of a rainbow scattered across the sky after the rain."

Richer's eyes were still fixed upon Ramish's face.

He had become so deeply lost in the magic of Ramish's words that, for a few moments, he completely forgot that there was a world beyond them.

Then, suddenly, it seemed to dawn on him how long he had been standing there in silence.

He lowered his gaze.

Ramish smiled and asked,

"Isn't that true, Richer?"

Richer raised his eyes, but he had nothing to say.

Trying to hide his confusion, he quickly said,

"Shall we sit at the table and have breakfast?"

Ramish gave a slight nod.

"Yes, alright."

They walked ahead and sat down at a table.

Richer picked up the menu and studied it for a while before ordering breakfast.

Before completing the order, he looked toward Ramish.

"Would you like to order anything else?"

Ramish smiled.

"No. What you ordered is enough."

The waiter took the order and walked away.

A few moments later, silence returned between them.

Their eyes were entangled with one another.

As if they were asking each other countless questions...

But their lips remained silent.

As if the answers already existed inside both their hearts, yet they were afraid to let those answers reach their tongues.

One moment passed.

Then another.

Richer could not keep looking into Ramish's eyes for very long.

There was too much inside them.

Love.

Waiting.

And questions that Richer desperately wanted to keep himself away from.

He immediately picked up his glass of water, took a couple of sips, and deliberately looked away from Ramish.

Then, trying to change the atmosphere, he softly said,

"You look really good today."

A gentle smile appeared on Ramish's face.

"Thank you."

Then he looked at Richer and said,

"You look really good too."

At that very moment, their breakfast arrived at the table.

They began eating.

After a while, Ramish took a bite with his spoon and, without thinking, extended it toward Richer.

Richer first looked at the spoon, then at Ramish's face.

For a moment, surprise appeared in his eyes.

But he could not bring himself to refuse Ramish.

Silently, he accepted the bite.

A smile spread across Ramish's lips.

"Won't you feed me too?"

Richer said nothing.

He simply picked up his spoon, took a bite, and extended it toward Ramish.

Ramish ate it with a smile.

Perhaps this silence between them had become the most beautiful conversation of all.

Without saying a word to each other, they were still saying so much.

After a while, breakfast came to an end.

The two slowly got up and began walking out of the hotel toward the car.

The morning sunlight had grown even brighter now.

As they walked, Ramish glanced at Richer for a moment.

A hope was still alive inside his heart.

One day, Richer would completely accept his love.

The day when every fear standing between them would disappear.

The day when Richer would no longer need to ask anyone else for the answer hidden inside his own heart.

A question rose once again in Ramish's heart.

When, finally, would the rain of Richer's love fall upon him?

When would Richer's love completely soak the thirsty soil of Ramish's heart?

He continued looking silently at Richer.

And from the deepest place within his heart, a sad voice arose—

"My heart is thirsty,

my heart is alone..."

And perhaps the desert that awaited them

was carrying the answer to that thirst somewhere deep within itself.
