"Girl, I can't go there, I don't know why I did that" I tell Rae as I swing my legs around her bed.
"I mean, it's not that bad, it was just a kiss. I could've sworn he likes you though, I wonder why he pushed you away" Rae says and I sigh.
"Yeah well, I'm never going back, I'll just die here"
"I guess you can stay here till it's time for class tomorrow"
"Can't I stay here forever?" I ask
"Girl no, I've gotta bring my boyfriend over a couple of times"
"Rae, you're choosing him over me?" I ask faking a frown
"Never, but he can give me what you can't so…" Rae says and I roll my eyes.
We remain indoors for a couple hours and then get hungry. "You've got anything in your fridge" I ask Rae.
"Nothing, let's go to the cafeteria"
We order our food and sit on the tables munching.
"You just disappeared on me" Trevor says as he steps into view. I almost choked on my food, "you could've left a note or something" he says.
"I had to visit Rae" I say but Trevor doesn't even look her way, he's staring at me.
"Do I need to leave?" Rae asks and I turn to see her smiling. Such a betrayer.
"About yesterday…" he starts and I quickly cut him off "no, I totally get it, I had no right." I quickly change the subject "what are you doing here anyways you prefer to cook no?" I ask and he sighs but goes with it.
"I was waiting for you, I knew you'd come to eat here" he says and I find myself staring.
"You were waiting for me, wow" I say shocked.
"Now that I know that you're fine, I'll just leave you to eat" he says and leaves.
"Now you got that man out here waiting for you like a puppy, y'all are so cute" Rae says and I side eye her.
I spend the rest of the day in Rae's house, the next day, we go to class together. We are standing just in front of the classroom when I see Trevor coming for class. I quickly pull Rae in the class with me and find a chair and sit down.
"Okay, that was weird" Trevor says from behind me and I literally scream.
"I came in immediately after you, well now I know for sure that you're avoiding me. Lia please let's not make this awkward" he says.
"I wasn't avoiding you, it's just…" I start but realize I actually don't have an excuse.
"You won't let me explain so at least just come back to your room and let's go back to normal" he says.
The lecturer comes in and I turn away, Trevor sighs and turns away too.

During class my mind keeps racing, yesterday I hadn't been so sure she was avoiding me, maybe she'd just missed her friend, but seeing her this morning running from me had done something to me. I really didn't like it.
Dave: Not you spooking your mate out
Me: I don't know what to do
Dave: Give it time, she'll probably come around, if you pressure her too much it'll become a big deal. Whenever she comes back make sure you've got a nice dish ready for her.
Me: That much I know
Dave wasn't being of much help. After class, Rae runs after the professor and I sigh.
"Wow, she's really taking it up a notch" I mutter
"Don't worry, she'll be back tonight, I'll force her" Myra says and I turn to her.
"Really?"
"Yes, I need to get laid and it won't happen with her there" Myra says and I chuckle.
"Well thank you, do you know her favorite dish?" I ask, Myra eyes me for a while before telling me.
"I don't know what you're planning here, but Lia is my best friend, if you hurt her you'll have me to account to"
"Wow, that makes me really scared" I reply sarcastically and Myra laughs "sincerely, I'd never hurt her."
When I step out to the hallway to leave, people are murmuring, someone walks up to me and says "bro, why would you let her beat you, we know you could've easily beaten her."
At first I'm unsure what they're talking about but I soon realize that results are out. I rush there and I'm second and Lia is first. I find myself smiling, she beat me with one point. I've never liked the school posting out results where everyone can see but I'm genuinely happy about this one. This is the first time she's beating me in an overall exam.
"I heard the professor scolding her for exam malpractice" a passerby says and my heart drops, certainly she isn't talking about Lia right? "Trevor has always been getting first, I'm sure she's done something to pass him" another says and I find myself rushing to the professor's office.
From outside I can hear his voice "just tell me what you've done, Trevor is out star student, it's a bad image for a female to just overtake a male".
The anger boils so fast, I open his door without knocking. Lia is crying and as much as I want to crouch to her level and hug her, I face the professor.
"Do you have proof of the allegations you're making?" I ask
"What? I'm doing this for your benefit, you'd lose face in front of the whole school"
"I don't care, you have no right to treat her like that, she's just passed, you should be congratulating her"
"Leave my office, both of you" he says and I quickly take Lia's hand and lead her out carefully. Murmurs fill the hallway as we pass.
It's raining heavily and I use my body to cover her while leading her to a shaded area. She pushes me away "Everyone knows we're academic rivals but I pass you with one mark and they're all acting like I did something wrong. What's so special about you, you pass me every time and that's normal to them." Her tears mix with the rain and I can't tell except by her voice if she's still crying.
"I don't agree with them at all, you worked hard for it. You're just as special as me Lia" I say very softly.
And I can tell clearly that she's crying now, so I pull her in for a hug "let's get you out of the rain okay?" I say and lead her towards the dorm.
Once we get in I rush and get a towel and dry her up "go and change, I'll microwave something for you to eat real quick" I say but before I can leave, she takes the towel and begins drying me up too. "Change too, you shouldn't get a cold" she says and I nod.
When I'm back from changing she's seated on the kitchen counter. "I didn't mean to crash out like that, it just got so annoying" she explains and I nod.
"I totally understand, trust me" I say and get out the food to microwave.
"I love how you stood up for me, it was amazing" she says and when I look at her I'm mesmerized. There's a strand of hair that's still wet, she probably missed that while drying her hair.
"I'd be a fool to not stand up for you" I say while staring into her eyes. The tension in the room is sizzling, but just then the microwave beeps. I pull back to plate the food and pass hers to her. She gets down from the counter, places the food on the counter and starts eating there, so I join her there.
"It tastes so good" she says and moans. I have to take a deep breath to steady myself "thank you" I reply.
When she spills some beside her mouth and says "oops", I use my finger to help her clean it up and before I can stop myself, I lick them off my fingers. And God it tastes sweeter. We're both looking at each other and the tension is back.
Before I can convince myself otherwise, I close the space between us and kiss her, when she kisses me back and opens her mouth I growl. My hands find her ass and pull her up to sit on the counter. The kiss grows deeper as our hands fly everywhere, we're going through each other's bodies.
Then I feel my wolf being awakened and I growl loudly, feeling the intense urge to keep it at bay and continue, so I do.
