Chapter 371: My Wife, I'm Coming To Find You!
Staring at the words on the wooden sword in his hand, Luo Wusheng's eyelid twitched slightly.
Uh… it was true—he'd totally forgotten the old bedtime storytelling routine with Little Yuli.
The last time he told her a story was actually on the afternoon of the day before yesterday, when they were returning to the capital and she proactively asked for one.
(But I've really been busy lately…)
Just last night, he'd been unconscious.
The night before that, he'd encountered the white-haired loli possessed by the little pink fox.
The night before that? Bai Xiaoyao launched a surprise "night raid."
And before that…
Yeah, let's just say he's been super busy.
But now, how exactly was he supposed to respond?
Just as he was struggling to figure it out, Luo Wusheng suddenly paused.
The message from earlier had inexplicably begun to blur… and then vanished.
[—Forget what I just said! I don't care about that kind of thing anyway!]
At that moment, a strange expression appeared on Luo Wusheng's face.
Little Yuli had retracted a message… and even tried to cast a memory-erasure spell on him.
Unfortunately, it failed.
(This girl… why is she so adorably dumb?)
Luo Wusheng couldn't help but mutter internally, though a glint of surprise passed through his eyes.
Clearly, this new message retraction feature hadn't existed before—
Which meant… this new inheritance from the Sword Ancestor also came with an upgrade to the messaging system?
Was the messaging short sword going to evolve into a full-blown chat app one day?
Video calls… group chats… social feed updates…
Suddenly, the Sword Ancestor seemed very modern-like.
Just as he was admiring this weird new development, the wooden sword in his hand trembled again.
[Oh, one more thing… after we split up in Sword Province, did everything really happen just the way you said?]
Gulp
He swallowed hard.
Why was Yuli bringing this up again?
(Is it because of those Nascent Soul cultivators from Sword Province? Even though I didn't tell her the full story, she's finally grown suspicious?)
Nervously working out his reply, Luo Wusheng responded with as much calm as he could muster:
[More or less, yeah… Why? Is something bothering you?]
The other side seemed to fall into deep thought after seeing his response.
There was no immediate reply.
Until, finally, just as a thin layer of cold sweat began forming on Luo Wusheng's forehead, a new message slowly appeared.
[Nothing. If that's the case, I'll get back to cultivating. Once I master this divine technique, I'll definitely scare the crap out of you!]
[Yes yes yes… my Little Yuli is the strongest—long live her rule over all the martial world.]
[You're brushing me off again with nonsense… Hmph. I'm not talking to you anymore.]
The messaging ended. Both parties logged off.
Luo Wusheng let out a long breath.
Crisis averted.
The Sword Fairy hadn't pressed the matter too hard.
(But this can't go on forever... It might be fine now, but once my dearest Shuangxue shows up, things are gonna get messy…)
Now forced to once again confront the most urgent problem of his life—Even more pressing than the Netherkin Chaos in the capital—Luo Wusheng's head began to throb.
"Whatever. Tomorrow I'll try to make some breakthroughs with Ling Shuangxue first. If that fails… I'll have to deal with Yuli instead."
Muttering to himself, he came to a decision.
Clearing his mind of distractions, he mentally reviewed everything he planned to do tonight.
"First, I need to finish absorbing the last trace of tribulation lightning that the little pink fox left in me…"
"Too bad the Hemal Sanguine Technique I use to harvest power from Netherkins has such low efficiency. Even though I can swallow power strong enough to kill Nascent Soul cultivators, after conversion it barely has any real effect on them…"
"Once I'm done with that, I'll be paralyzed for a bit—perfect time to start studying dual cultivation techniques. With two high-grade manuals in hand now, I should be able to make a major breakthrough and finally solve the issue of being 'overdrawn.'"
"And finally, if I still have time…"
He thought of his biggest gain from today:
Without a doubt, it was those five spirit jades the Empress had given him.
Five whole brand-new jades he'd never possessed before—he was completely over the moon.
And right behind that were two Nascent Soul-level cultivation methods.
The first technique also came from the Empress herself. It was a specialized Nascent Soul-level spell exclusive to the Six Gate Bureau Golden Ranked member, and considered one of the more powerful techniques at that level. When used in coordination with others who also knew it, its power would multiply.
Its name was "Seal Suppression Technique".
Luo Wusheng had witnessed it in action before—during the grand opening of the Demon Artifact Pavilion.
When the rat Netherkin revealed itself, the three Six Gate Bureau Golden-Ranked members had acted together, unleashing a torrent of golden light and talismanic runes with a mere wave of their hands.
That was this very technique—the exclusive signature spell of the Six Gate Bureau Golden Ranked member.
Back then, for the sake of avoiding collateral damage and staying cautious, the three had held back and not gone all-out. They never showcased the true might of the spell… and in the end, he, Luo Wusheng, still swooped in and stole the finishing blow.
The second technique, on the other hand, came from the red-faced Nascent Soul cultivator who had visited the Demon Artifact Pavilion earlier that day.
As thanks for saving his life, the man generously gifted Luo Wusheng his signature technique: "Word Sword Technique".
He offered it so generously, Luo Wusheng even felt a bit embarrassed.
After all, it is his Sword Emperor's broken blade that had dragged all these people into the whole chicken Netherkin mess in the first place…
But with such sincere gratitude, and Luo Wusheng himself intrigued by the idea of turning words into swords, he gratefully accepted it.
And not just from that crimson-faced Guan Yu lookalike—
The other Nascent Soul cultivators, in appreciation for having their lives saved, also showered him with gifts.
One especially silly cultivator even reluctantly gave up a mid-grade Artifact: a sword named "Dog-Egg Sword."
(A truly touching act… if a little strange.)
In addition, they had a full Daoist discussion session on the third floor of the Demon Artifact Pavilion.
That entire level became a maelstrom of phenomena and cultivator visions.
Luo Wusheng even pulled in Long Dahai and the other disciples to sit in and listen, and they all benefited immensely.
Everyone left happy.
As the sun began to set, the old Daoist, one of the key players in the fight against the chicken Netherkin, even sought out Luo Wusheng to ask whether he possessed the elusive "Art of Pot Mastery."
He was even willing to trade good stuff for it.
Though Luo Wusheng didn't actually know the technique, he did pass along some secondhand information he'd picked up from his junior sister about the Celestial Cooking Pot Artifact.
The old Daoist's eyes practically turned into copper bells as he stared in shock, like he'd just discovered a whole new world.
. . . . . . . . . . . . .
Time flew during cultivation.
As dawn began to break, Luo Wusheng stretched lazily, enjoying the sensation of his body shaking off the paralysis, like he'd just had a full-body massage. His night of cultivation had come to an end.
(Everything's more or less in place… I've fully absorbed the tribulation lightning, made a breakthrough in dual cultivation, and got a solid starting grasp on the two new techniques...)
As he reflected on this, Luo Wusheng once again felt just how absurdly overpowered his innate cultivation talent was.
"Honestly, I didn't really need to master those two techniques rights away… I planned to use them only when I put on the Golden-Ranked member mask anyway."
Muttering under his breath, he stepped out of his room.
It was still early. He had time for some last-minute preparation.
Like… heading over to his junior sister's room to give her a good headpat and maybe push along the progress of their Predestined Effect.
Or dropping by Little Yuli's room to finally play a game of chess again, to remind himself of the joy of completely crushing someone.
And so, that's exactly what he did.
After completing both of those important tasks and watching the sun fully rise, Luo Wusheng ignored the barrage of furious, flustered messages Little Yuli was sending via the short sword.
With his figure hidden, he departed the residence.
His destination: Sword Province, Sword Emperor's Secret Realm!
My wife, I'm coming to find you!
