Chapter 266: I'll Take Care of Yuli
Level One Alert!
Luo Wusheng felt his heart racing.
Just as he was about to take action, he saw Ling Shuangxue step gracefully out of the pool.
Her alluring figure moved behind the large stone from where the water was flowing.
When she reappeared, her clothes were mostly dry, and a wave of spiritual energy had cleansed any remaining moisture.
Barefoot, she gently dipped her toes back into the pool and, with an ethereal grace, drifted over to Luo Wusheng's side.
"Yuli asked when I'll be returning to Sword Sect…" she said quietly, looping her arm into his, resting her hand atop his own.
As her delicate feet dipped into the pool, a blush touched her cheeks. Luo Wusheng shifted subtly closer to her, intertwining their fingers to steady his racing thoughts, and asked softly, "How do you plan to reply?"
Ling Shuangxue paused before lifting her beautiful eyes to meet his. "Let's wait a bit to tell Yuli about… us. What do you think?"
Surprised, Luo Wusheng blinked.
He'd been worried about how to bring it up naturally without raising suspicions, hoping to avoid setting off Yuli, the true protagonist, until he'd formulated a good plan.
But now, his wife had made the proposal herself!
Keeping his reaction in check, Luo Wusheng gave her an appreciative look, his heart swelling. Shuangxue continued, holding the message sword tightly as she nestled against him:
"I came to Sword Province to find a Heaven-grade Soulblade Specter for Yuli. With her current talent, that will allow her to form a perfect Sword Intent during the Foundation Establishment stage and later condense a Sword Pill during the Golden Core stage."
Luo Wusheng nodded, familiar with this. In the original story, Yuli used a special incense gifted by Shuangxue to achieve Sword Intent, but now it seemed a Heaven-grade Soulblade Specter would replace it. This twist made him wonder if the changes were coincidental.
Unaware of his thoughts, Shuangxue explained, "The Soulblade Specter has been acquired, but now isn't the best time to give it to Yuli…"
"I see, so you'd like her to undergo the Human Immortal List first?" Luo Wusheng mused, adjusting his tone to that of a senior addressing a disciple, carefully trying to adjust to his new role.
Ling Shuangxue nodded in agreement, her eyes softening as she continued. "The Human Immortal List' Immortal Testing Platform will refine her skills. By doing so, her sword path will be even more aligned with herself… and after that, I can give her the Soulblade Specter, maximizing its benefits."
Luo Wusheng's thoughts drifted.
He'd once swept the Human Immortal List at the age of twelve.
Although powerful even then, his main objective was to take a piece of the Immortal Testing Platform stone as a souvenir—unsuccessfully, of course, since it required the strength of a Tribulation Crossing realm cultivator.
"I see… so you're planning to give her the Soulblade Specter and explain everything after the Human Immortal List, then?"
"Yes."
Luo Wusheng nodded thoughtfully.
While the Soulblade Specter could be a symbol of their relationship, explaining how it was acquired would inevitably include events from the past couple of days.
"Additionally, I need some time to solidify my Flawless Sword Body," she added, watching his puzzled expression. "Condensing a Flawless Sword Body takes time. Although I felt a breakthrough recently, reaching full formation could take a few days more."
"Otherwise, I would've liked to return with you to the capital…"
She envisioned welcoming Yuli back, handing over the Soulblade Specter, and sharing the events of these days as a joyful surprise.
Yuli would surely be thrilled.
Luo Wusheng, meanwhile, was immensely grateful for the extra time to prepare himself.
Realizing her subtle intent, he raised her hand with the Star Moon Jade ring, pressing his thumb against it.
"I'll try linking my Dao Essence to this space to act as a bridge. The Sword Emperor's broken sword showed me how to do this, allowing me to pass in and out of here. If it doesn't work at first… I'll keep trying until it does."
His words, laced with determination, brought warmth to her gaze.
Ling Shuangxue nodded slightly as she lifted her own message sword, revealing the words she'd already composed for her disciple:
[Your master encountered a small fortuitous event on the way, and it'll delay my return to Sword Sect for a short while.]
Soon, she received Yuli's anxious response:
[What? But, but the Human Immortal List are soon, and I plan to return to the capital with that friend I mentioned…]
[Friend? No need to worry, I'll wait for you after the Human Immortal List] she replied, eyes softening as she looked at Luo Wusheng.
"Then… I'll leave Yuli in your care," she whispered with a smile.
"Don't worry, I'll take good care of her," he promised, grasping her hand, embodying the image of a responsible elder.
Ling Shuangxue felt completely reassured, unable to detect even a hint of the scheming shadow of an experienced actor.
