Chapter 216: Is This the Legendary Holy Saint of the Demon Sect?
Luo Wusheng was stunned.
In every sense of the word.
Just now, he had been ambushed by a tribulation lightning.
He never expected this at all. Normally, heavenly tribulation lightning should arrive openly and honorably. So why was it playing dirty tricks when it came to him?
Truly dishonorable!
Could it be that the countless encounters he had with tribulation lightning over the past month landed him on some sort of blacklist?
Moreover, the special tribulation lightning appeared at the exact moment when the little pink fox entered a state of absorbing the tribulation lightning, causing her body to briefly pause. As a result, even if the little pink fox wanted to help, it was too late.
When Luo Wusheng instinctively extended his right arm to block the attack, he had already prepared himself for severe injuries.
After all, he had indeed let his guard down—his spiritual energy hadn't circulated in time to form adequate defenses. Meanwhile, the sudden appearance of the purple lightning came with terrifying speed and power that even an ordinary Nascent Soul cultivator would struggle to withstand.
Taking a direct hit like this, even for someone like him, would require using a few of his most treasured healing jade stones to recover in a short time.
At the moment the lightning struck, Luo Wusheng had already planned which jade stones he would use.
But what happened next completely exceeded his expectations.
The purple lightning clung to his right arm like a bone-chilling parasite.
Its terrifying power… didn't explode?
Though it should have had the strength to heavily injure him, Luo Wusheng suddenly felt that it wasn't as powerful as he had sensed.
The might of the lightning seemed much weaker than expected.
Even so, the power of the lightning still began tearing the flesh of his arm. Yet, as soon as the flesh was ripped apart, blood threads appeared and began reconnecting the wound, showing signs of rapid healing.
And during this process of recovery, Luo Wusheng made another startling discovery.
He was actually absorbing the tribulation power contained within the lightning!
In that moment of epiphany, realization struck him.
'Could it be the result of refining those two and a half drops of special nether blood I took from the little pink fox?'
The section on blood refinement in the manual had been extremely vague about the effects of refining nether blood. Luo Wusheng had only speculated, based on the headless Buddha statue senior's past stories, that refining the blood would strengthen the physical body—something akin to how characters in cultivation novels become god-like beings through body refinement.
In truth, that ancient senior most likely did follow a similar path.
However, the senior practiced the Buddhist Golden Body, not the Hemal Sanguine Technique.
And the Hemal Sanguine Technique…
What it actually grants, through refining nether blood, is an enhanced regenerative ability.
'But that's not all…'
Gazing at his right arm—constantly torn apart and instantly healing—Luo Wusheng felt a deep sense of amazement.
He had originally thought that refining the Netherqueen's blood hadn't yielded any special results.
But from the current situation, the special effect had indeed been obtained.
And it was even stronger than he had imagined.
'Devouring Tribulation… Though it seems to be a weakened version, with a rather low efficiency in converting tribulation power…'
But the increase in lightning resistance was very real!
This explained why, despite the terrifying nature of the tribulation lightning, it only managed to tear some flesh from his arm—barely qualifying as a minor injury—and was swiftly healed by his now-enhanced regenerative abilities.
There was no need to even use spiritual energy to resist it…
And besides all that, Luo Wusheng made yet another discovery.
The purple lightning coiled around his arm but ultimately came to a halt at his shoulder and neck.
It was as if it were afraid of something.
Luo Wusheng knew exactly what was there—just a faint bite mark that Yao Ji had left behind...
"Are you okay?"
The little pink fox's belated voice transmission echoed in his ears.
At this moment, the tribulation lightning in the sky was falling with increasing frequency.
The little pink fox barely had time to "devour" it and truly couldn't spare a moment—especially after seeing that Luo Wusheng seemed inexplicably fine, which eased her worries a little.
"YeahI'mfine~~"
Luo Wusheng replied with difficulty, his voice sounding like it had been electrocuted.
It was only now that he realized that although the tribulation lightning hadn't caused him any real damage, a tingling numbness had spread throughout his entire body. Even circulating his spiritual energy made him tremble uncontrollably.
His face had gone completely numb—like a stone mask.
The little pink fox shot him a strange look but, after confirming he was truly unharmed, returned to the monumental task of devouring the tribulation lightning under the increasingly dense thunderclouds.
Luo Wusheng focused on the diminishing energy fluctuations in his right arm. He could faintly sense the heavenly tribulation's power now dwelling within it.
A slight sense of regret rose in his heart.
After confirming that the tribulation lightning no longer posed a threat to him, and realizing that the tribulation-devouring ability—granted by the refined special nether blood—had strengthened even further, boosting his lightning resistance... his thoughts began to shift.
I kind of want to squeeze a little more out of this tribulation...
But after some consideration, he decided it was best not to push his luck. He didn't want to disrupt the little pink fox's recovery plan. Besides, given his current state—where he could barely move his eyes from the numbness—there wasn't much he could do to take advantage of a few more tribulation strikes anyway.
However, just as that thought crossed his mind, two more streaks of purple lightning suddenly burst out from the void...
<+>
Time shifted to the present moment.
All the Nascent Soul Realm Netherkins who had rushed to the scene came to a halt outside the tribulation clouds.
Their faces revealed undisguised shock as they gazed at the young man before them—his arm wrapped in tribulation lightning, standing tall like a Great Netherfiend.
Especially when they saw seven additional streaks of purple lightning materialize in the void.
Each carried enough power to severely wound a Nascent Soul cultivator.
Yet, instead of striking destructively, all seven bolts seemed to be drawn irresistibly into the right arm of that Holy Saint of the Demon Sect.
The merging of the seven purple lightning bolts made the radiance on his right arm even more dazzling. Vicious arcs of electricity occasionally flickered, sending out explosive sounds as they tore through the air.
And yet, even with such terrifying power coursing through him, the Holy Saint seemed completely unaffected.
His expression remained calm and unperturbed.
His slightly lifted gaze, filled with serene composure, stared in the direction of the assembled Netherkins.
That gaze, accompanied by the divine yet demonic posture of wielding the heavenly might with just one arm, made some of the gathered Nascent Soul Netherkins instinctively avert their eyes, not daring to meet his gaze directly.
"This... is this truly the legendary Holy Saint of the Demon Sect?!"
The thought echoed in the minds of every Netherkin present.
Memories of the Holy Saint's legendary feats surfaced unbidden in their minds.
Yet, the reality before them was even more unbelievable than the legends themselves.
"Gulp— The lightning wrapped around his arm could easily obliterate an ordinary Nascent Soul cultivator, couldn't it?"
"More than that! Even with my late-stage Nascent Soul cultivation, I wouldn't dare claim I could withstand this tribulation lightning as effortlessly as he does! Are we sure his cultivation level is truly at the peak of the Golden Core stage and not Nascent Soul?!"
"Just the tribulation power initially wrapped around his arm was enough to make my heart tremble— and now, with those seven additional bolts? If I were standing in his place, I'd be dead for sure!"
"But wait— what exactly are those seven purple lightning bolts that appeared out of nowhere? I've never heard of such unpredictable tribulation lightning appearing during a heavenly tribulation!"
This last remark caused the Netherkins to freeze.
Indeed, none of them had ever seen such a form of tribulation lightning before.
But before they could ponder further, the heavens and earth suddenly stirred.
The endless tribulation lightning in the sky seemed to pause.
Some even appeared to recede ever so slightly.
In this surreal stillness, the little pink fox with soft, pale red fur stepped forward with a light movement.
The thunderous roar of the lightning fell completely silent at that moment.
Behind her, three fully materialized tails swayed gently.
