"Are you going to keep tossing like a restless pup, or are you finally getting up?"
Emerald groaned and rolled onto her side. "Viola, shut up."
"Oh, so now I'm supposed to be quiet while you twist and kick all night?" Viola teased, her voice curling through Emerald's head with that smug, familiar energy.
"If you wanted company in your bed, you could've just asked for Kieran. He wouldn't have minded keeping you still. I mean… I wouldn't mind too."
Emerald buried her face in the pillow. "You're impossible."
"No, just observant. Besides, if you keep this up, you'll tear the sheets to shreds before sunrise. And I like this bed; it doesn't smell like wet wolves yet."
Despite herself, Emerald chuckled softly. "You're insufferable."
"And you love me."
Emerald sighed, sitting up at last. "Fine. I'm getting up."
"Good girl."
She ignored Viola's smug purr and swung her legs over the side of the bed.
