Chapter 4 - Return of the Martial Soul – Chapter 4: The Sky That Bled Ashes

Part I: The Falling Star

Mujin awoke with a jolt.

The underground hall was dark now—lit only by the faint glow of the Heaven's Seal etched on his wrist. A low hum filled the silence, pulsing like a second heartbeat.

He sat up, gasping.

The dream still lingered.

A tower of ash rising in the distance.A mirror breaking in the sky.A voice—his voice—crying out a name he didn't know.

"...Juhwa."

He whispered it aloud. It tasted like betrayal.

Just then, a dull thunder rolled across the forest above. Dust rained from the ceiling.

From outside, voices shouted—panicked, angry.

He rushed out to the surface, where a crowd had gathered in the moonlight. Farmers, monks, wandering warriors—they all stared skyward.

Above them, the constellations were shifting.

A burning streak tore across the sky, trailing violet flames.

"An omen!" someone cried.

"Death follows the comet!"

Part II: The Veiled Master

Elder Woon Gihyeon stood in silence, his face grave.

"That's no comet," he said. "That is the mark of the Skybone Emperor."

The crowd fell still.

Mujin approached. "Who?"

Gihyeon looked at him, slowly. "He was a tyrant who tried to tear open the heavens to rule over death itself. The last time his name was spoken… the dynasty cracked."

Mujin swallowed. "And now?"

"Now… someone is trying to wake his legacy."

That night, under fire-stained skies, Mujin was summoned again—this time to the southern shrine, where only the Woonryong Order's inner circle could enter.

Inside waited a woman with silver hair and a blindfold covering her eyes.

Her voice came soft, like drifting snow:"You carry the Seal. But it is not yet yours."

She held out a fragment of obsidian.

"Dreams will lie. Memories will twist. But this will always burn true."

Mujin took the shard.

It burned into his palm, and in that moment—he saw…

His own death.

A battlefield.His body shattered.And a blade driven into his back—by a friend.

Part III: The Warning

He fell to his knees, gasping.

The woman knelt beside him, whispering:

"Heed this vision—not to escape it… but to prepare."

"The Gate is not merely opening—it's bleeding."

"And Baekje's skies will weep again."

She turned to vanish into the dark.

But just before she stepped beyond the veil of shadow, Mujin found the strength to ask:

"Who are you?"

The answer came like thunder and silk.

"I am the one who will kill you… if you fail."

And she was gone.
