Chapter 5 - CHAPTER 5

Knock knock.

Homura finished serving dinner for her children when she heard a knock on her front door. She'd sighed thinking it would be another person begging to see Betty's power in action, walking up to the door and opening it.

She was just about ready to give the same old explanation on why she won't be letting her child show off her powers until she froze in place.

"Luo?" Her eyes widened, her mouth agape. The man she left behind due to her fear was now standing right in front of her. She couldn't believe this was happening so soon. Betty was only three which was definitely not the right time for the girl to find out about everything.

"I want to see our daughter, Homura. I also want answers as to why you left me so suddenly all those years ago." Luo firmly states, not beating around the bush as he'd get straight to the point.

He definitely was not going to back down. After all, this was his only chance at finding out why Homura had left. Did he say something wrong? Had she found out about him wanting to propose and ran away out of fear? Or perhaps it was for another reason.

Regardless, Homura knew he had the right to meet his own child and definitely deserved to know why she left without a world years ago. So, she'd let out a long sigh and gesture for him to come inside. Luo was surprised she was willing to let him inside but didn't question it.

When he'd walk in and see the twins and Betty eating their dinner, Lon and Daiwen would notice him almost immediately. They'd stare in shock with their mouths wide open, Betty tilting her head to see what they were looking at. However, she was serene compared to everybody else who was in a state of shock.

"Mommy, who's he?" Betty innocently asked. Homura was internally freaking out as she knew she couldn't back out from this discussion.

"This… this is your dad." She shrugged her shoulders awkwardly as Betty's eyes widened in surprise.

"But I thought I didn't have one, mommy!" Betty protests as she'd get up and run up to Luo, curious whether this was truly her biological dad. Luo would pick her up in response and smile.

"So this is my daughter? She looks just like you, Homura!" He grins widely. Homura would just look aside with an uncertain expression across her face.

She knew she couldn't run from her past forever. The mountains will always echo her past as she couldn't run away from her past mistakes. So alas, as hesitant as she was, it was time for Luo to be part of her child's life.

She snapped out of her thoughts upon hearing yet another knock on the door. Who could it be this time?

Betty makes Luo put her down and immediately runs to open the door. A boy with raven colored hair and red eyes stood at the door, his face portraying no emotion. No smile was present on his face nor any sign that he was even pleased to be here. He appeared rather confident in his posture yet silent.

"This is the Parvis household, correct? The one with the divine child?" He questions with a raised brow.

"Uh… yes. This is our house. What brings you here?" Betty wonders as she tries to put on a brave face, already unsettled as she was with his sudden appearance. The stranger creeped her out.

"I was sent here on the crown prince's behalf. From here on out, I am officially your bodyguard." He states with his face betraying no emotion. Betty's mouth fell open as she was taken back by this sudden information.

"What?"
