Land of Wano, Oden Castle.
Kaito and Kalifa's figures suddenly appeared just outside the ruins. Kalifa looked around and immediately noticed clear signs of charring everywhere. Scattered gravestones stood among the wreckage—one in the center bore the inscription: Grave of Kozuki Oden.
Seeing the name Kozuki Oden, Kalifa paused. As a former intelligence operative, she had definitely heard of him.
After all, this man had once sailed to Laugh Tale with Gol D. Roger. He was a person of great interest to the World Government. Staring at the gravestone, Kalifa asked,
"Boss, is this really the grave of that Kozuki Oden?"
Kaito chuckled and replied,
"Genuine article."
"Incredible. He used to be the Second Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates, and even traveled to Laugh Tale with Roger. How did someone like that die?"
"Simple. He died because he was an idiot."
"Huh?"
Kaito didn't elaborate. He merely instructed Kalifa to stay put outside the ruins. Then, a flash of violet light flickered in his eyes.
In the next instant, Almighty Push erupted. The ruins and the gravestones were crushed into dust by an invisible repulsive force, leaving the area looking far more spacious and barren.
But that wasn't the end.
Kaito's body began to float. His gaze fixed on the empty space below as black ripples began to radiate outward from his right Rinnegan, surging with overwhelming ocular power.
Eventually, the anomaly in his Rinnegan ceased. Kaito's gaze locked onto the space below as he activated the ocular jutsu of his right eye—Tensō Seijin.
A swirling gray vortex appeared, covering the entire area below, rotating clockwise.
Suddenly, several beams of light burst forth. Seeing them, Kaito ceased channeling his ocular power, and the gray vortex dissipated shortly after losing its source of energy.
The light faded, revealing five figures—four adults and one child.
Kaito nodded to himself. Just as he expected.
The five who appeared were the same ones sent into the future by Toki's Time-Time Fruit when Oden Castle was burned down: Kin'emon, Kanjuro, Kikunojo, Raizo, and Momonosuke.
The Time-Time Fruit's ability, as described, allowed the user—or others—to be transported into the future. However, it couldn't send anyone into the past.
For a so-called "Time Fruit," it was clearly misleadingly named.
Kaito speculated that "transporting to the future" was actually more like putting someone's time into stasis. Then, once the desired time was reached, the stasis would end, and the person would reappear—giving the illusion of time travel into the future.
Meanwhile, the ocular technique Tensō Seijin in Kaito's right eye accelerated the flow of time within a given space. Even though Oden Castle's grounds were vast, accelerating time by just over a decade posed no challenge for Kaito's current ocular strength.
The result validated his theory—the appearance of Momonosuke and the others proved it.
...
At this moment, Momonosuke and his group were completely bewildered, looking around in confusion. The environment before them was vastly different from what they'd imagined.
Back when Toki sent them away, this place had been engulfed in flames by the Beasts Pirates. But what kind of fire could burn this entire area so thoroughly—without leaving a trace?
They looked around for a long time but couldn't recognize anything familiar. The only person they saw nearby was Kalifa.
As soon as Momonosuke and Kin'emon laid eyes on her, their lecherous instincts flared up again. Kin'emon nudged Momonosuke and said,
"Young Master, judging by her clothes, that woman's from Wano. You're just a child—go ask her what year it is and what's happened since we've been gone."
He hadn't yet started pretending to be Momonosuke's father, so he still called him Young Master.
Momonosuke agreed readily. Putting on a pitiful expression, he walked over to Kalifa and even tried to play up the innocent act,
"We were attacked by bandits while we were out... it was really hard to get back here... Could you please tell us what year it is now?"
Kalifa narrowed her eyes at the boy in front of her. As a former secret agent, she immediately saw through his little act.
Sure enough, when she didn't respond, Momonosuke tried to grab the hem of her kimono, clearly hoping to use his "child advantage" to get even closer.
But Kalifa wasn't the type to tolerate such behavior.
In her eyes, the only man allowed to touch her was her boss. Everyone else—even children—could forget about it.
She lifted her leg and kicked Momonosuke square in the face. He didn't even have time to react before he was sent flying. Luckily, Kin'emon caught him midair.
Raizo and the others rushed over in alarm.
Seeing Momonosuke's face twisted in pain, complete with a deep imprint from a wooden sandal, Kin'emon and the others were instantly furious.
This boy is Oden's bloodline! How dare that woman do this?!
Kin'emon, a staunch believer in male superiority, was absolutely enraged to see Momonosuke kicked like that by a woman.
He immediately drew his katana, its blade mysteriously igniting in flames. As the leader of the Nine Red Scabbards, his combat power might be average, but at least he had brains—certainly more than Oden ever did.
Kalifa's kick had been so swift that it was clear she wasn't an ordinary person. Kin'emon had already assumed she must be one of Orochi's underlings. That snake always had a thing for pretty women.
Fueled by that assumption, Kin'emon swung his blade fiercely, sending a wave of fire flying toward Kalifa.
Kalifa didn't move. She knew that if someone dared attack her, her boss would never let it slide.
Sure enough, a figure descended from the sky, casually waving his hand to disperse the flames.
It was Kaito, who had been watching the scene unfold from above.
The moment he saw Kalifa kick Momonosuke flying, Kaito actually laughed. Kalifa had no patience for bratty kids. He couldn't help but think of Hancock—if it were her, Momonosuke's fate probably would've been even worse.
At first, Kaito had intended to keep observing. But the instant that Kin'emon attacked his secretary, the man had effectively signed his own death warrant.
Kin'emon's heart tightened as Kaito suddenly descended from the sky.
This man was clearly on the woman's side—and his power was terrifying.
Kin'emon wasn't naive; he could tell this guy was dangerous.
Black smoke began to rise from Kaito's hand. He stared at Kin'emon with a deathly gaze and said coldly,
"I heard you can cut fire. Try cutting this."
A wave of black flames surged from Kaito's palm, morphing into a massive sea of fire that swept toward Kin'emon.
Sweat beaded on Kin'emon's forehead. This eerie black flame exuded an overwhelming sense of danger.
The blaze was too wide to dodge. He had no choice but to grit his teeth and use his Foxfire Style to try and cut it.
But the moment his blade touched the black flames, it instantly froze over and shattered from the extreme cold.
Kin'emon's eyes widened in horror.
"This is bad! Quick, ru—"
Before he could finish, the black flames consumed him.
Within seconds, the flames receded, leaving behind a humanoid ice sculpture where Kin'emon once stood.
A light breeze passed through, and the sculpture crumbled into glimmering shards of ice, dispersing into the wind.
