Above Minion Island Island—
Kaido's enormous dragon body twisted violently in the sky. The last strike from Susanoo had left a terrifying wound on his side. Blood gushed from the gash and rained down upon the island, turning the skies crimson.
Yet despite such a severe injury, Kaido showed little concern. What truly occupied his mind was the power Kaito had just displayed. Glancing at his wound, Kaido opened his massive jaws, his voice thundering like a war drum.
"Uchiha Kaito… those eyes of yours—you're not a normal human, are you?"
It made sense that Kaido would ask. After all, he himself came from a special bloodline—the Oni race.
Judging by Kaido's own strength, it was safe to say that the Oni were a formidable people. Otherwise, Big Mom wouldn't have coveted him back when they served under Rocks. Whether or not they had a child together… well, perhaps Yamato?
Inside the diamond-shaped space atop Susanoo's head, Corazon and Law stood silently, watching Kaito's back with curiosity. Clearly, they had the same question as Kaido.
Kaito felt their gazes boring into him and subtly rolled his purple eyes. Still, he offered a half-hearted explanation.
"You wouldn't have heard of it even if I told you. I come from the Uchiha clan."
"Uchiha clan?"
Kaido rummaged through his memories, trying to recall if he'd ever heard of such a name on the seas. In the end, nothing came to mind. Not even a whisper.
Must be a reclusive and sparsely populated clan, he thought. But judging from the power Kaito had shown, the Uchiha clan was without a doubt a fearsome one.
Kaido had always been someone who valued talent. So now, facing such a young powerhouse, he couldn't help but extend an offer.
"You're impressive. Why don't you join me? I promise, under my command, your status will be far greater than what you'll ever have in the Marines!"
Kaito scoffed with clear disdain.
"Don't make me laugh. Even if you gave me your seat, I'd still rather be a Marine grunt."
"Well said!"
A bold, feminine voice rang out from above. Kaido, Kaito, and the others looked toward the source.
It was Tsuru, racing through the sky with Geppo, leading a group that included Momonga and several others. Her speed alone was proof enough of her strength.
"Hmph."
Seeing Tsuru and the others arrive, Kaido snorted coldly. His eyes narrowed.
It wasn't that he feared them. In his view, even two more Admirals wouldn't be enough to bring him down.
But the timing and conditions were all wrong now—and worst of all, there was Doflamingo, still clutched in Kaido's claw, barely clinging to life. That man was supposed to be his collaborator.
No point continuing this fight.
With that, Kaido opened his mouth and unleashed a torrent of dragon breath, his voice booming across the sky.
"Uchiha Kaito, I'll remember you! Next time we meet, you'd better be stronger than you are now!"
Then, with a mighty surge, his massive body vanished into the clouds, disappearing from sight.
...
The dragon breath attack he left behind bore down like a natural disaster. Tsuru and the three Vice Admirals beside her looked grim. Dodging such a massive area attack in midair was impossible. They had no choice but to brace for impact.
Meanwhile, inside the diamond-shaped head of Susanoo, Kaito, Corazon, and Law were the most composed of all.
Kaito simply didn't see Kaido's attack as a threat.
As for Corazon and Law, they were already completely awed by Kaito's power.
Especially Corazon—he had now taken Sengoku's words,
"You can place complete trust in Kaito," as an absolute truth.
...
Then, the towering purple giant raised its sword once again.
With a single swing, it cleaved straight through the incoming dragon breath. The scorching energy split in two and vanished in opposite directions.
Crisis averted.
Tsuru and the other Vice Admirals stood frozen, staring at the giant figure that towered over the heavens, their hearts shaken to the core.
Especially Tsuru.
She had already guessed that the one who summoned this purple titan was Kaito. But now, seeing him standing atop Susanoo's head with her own eyes—it still felt unreal.
Kaito's voice rang out.
"All right, everyone. Mission complete. Let's head back."
Susanoo began descending first. Tsuru and Momonga, still processing their emotions, followed him back to the ground.
Once they landed, Kaito released his power. Susanoo flickered like a mirage before finally dissipating without a trace.
Kaito held Corazon in one hand, who in turn cradled Law in his arms, and slowly touched down.
Tsuru stepped forward. She looked at Corazon, then at the child in his arms, then turned to Kaito with a trace of awe in her voice.
"So it really was you who summoned that purple giant… Incredible."
Even Onigumo, who usually wore a deadpan expression, nodded solemnly. In his mind, Susanoo was now on par with the catastrophic force of Akainu's magma when he went all out.
He hadn't forgotten the battle at sea just now—how he, Momonga, and the others had risked their lives just to protect that lone battleship.
And what was most terrifying—judging by the sword swing that had dispersed Kaido's breath—was that it had only been an aftershock of Susanoo's true power.
Kaito chuckled casually.
"It's called Susanoo. You could call it a god of destruction—but for the Uchiha clan, it's our guardian spirit."
"You mean… every member of your clan can use that power?"
"Not quite. Even among the Uchiha, only a handful can awaken Susanoo—and fewer still can wield it like I just did."
"I see… Then I'll drop the ide—uh, I mean…"
Kaito gave Vice Admiral Tsuru a speechless look.
Too late. He already knew what she was going to say.
Tsuru laughed awkwardly, drawing a stunned expression from Momonga and the others. Such a face was an exceedingly rare sight on Tsuru.
She cleared her throat and shot them a sharp glare, then turned back to Corazon and Law.
"This must be Commander Rosinante, the one Sengoku spoke of. And this child?"
Hearing his name, Corazon stepped forward hurriedly.
"Yes, Vice Admiral Tsuru. I'm Rosinante. Following Fleet Admiral Sengoku's orders, I've been undercover within the Donquixote Family. This boy here is Law—the only surviving child from Flevance who carries Amber Lead Syndrome!"
Tsuru's gaze softened as she looked at Law in Corazon's arms. She had heard about this case before—another tragedy. She noticed the white blotches on Law's skin and let out a sigh.
"Sigh…"
Seeing her reaction, Kaito didn't say a word about the fact that he could cure Amber Lead Syndrome.
He had already instructed Corazon and Law to take that secret to their graves. If it got out… he wouldn't be merciful.
