After Gion left, Kaito turned and headed to his dormitory.
When he opened the door, all three of his roommates were already there—he was the last to arrive.
Among the three, one face was familiar: it was Binz. The other two hadn't appeared in the original story.
As soon as they saw Kaito walk in, the three were startled. They hadn't expected their roommate to be the Kaito—the top scorer in the entrance exam. A real star. They quickly stood up to greet him.
Kaito responded to each of them politely. After that, the four began introducing themselves.
The first to speak was a chubby guy with short yellow hair.
"Hey everyone, I'm Breach. I'm from the West Blue. I ate the Hook-Hook Fruit. Nice to meet you all!"
"Isn't that like a robot build?" Kaito was reminded of a character from a game back on Earth.
After Breach finished, a scruffy-looking youth with a beard and rugged features spoke up with a cocky tone.
"I'm Glefos. Also from the West Blue. I specialize in heavy firearms." With that, he casually flopped back onto his bed.
...Okay, what kind of game world have I landed in here? Kaito felt a bit disoriented by now.
Then it was Binz's turn. He spoke up stiffly:
"I'm Binz, from the North Blue. I ate the Grow-Grow Fruit. Please take care of me."
Finally, someone who actually fits the setting, Kaito thought with a bit of relief. He then introduced himself:
"I'm Uchiha Kaito, from the East Blue. I have many abilities, but my favorites are using repulsion and attraction. I haven't eaten a Devil Fruit."
No Devil Fruit... but he can control repulsion and attraction?
All three of them had the same thought pop into their heads. But everyone had their own secrets, and they didn't know each other well yet, so no one asked.
After introductions, the four returned to their beds to rest. Tomorrow was the opening ceremony—and the first day of training.
...
The next day,
The four headed to the training grounds together and lined up with the rest of the recruits, waiting for the instructor to arrive.
Five minutes later, a purple-haired figure appeared before them—Zephyr.
He walked up to the platform with a stern expression and swept his eyes across the gathered cadets, lingering briefly on Kaito's position.
Those unusual eyes... he must be Uchiha Kaito.
Having identified the student he would focus on, Zephyr began the opening speech.
"Greetings. I am Zephyr, Chief Instructor of the Elite Training Camp here at Headquarters. I believe most of you have at least heard of my name, so I won't waste time introducing myself. I'm sure that anyone who made it here is already among the elite."
At those words, many cadets unconsciously raised their heads, pride flickering in their eyes.
But then Zephyr's tone changed sharply.
"However, don't think that just being here means you'll graduate smoothly. Let me be clear—this place has no room for freeloaders. What comes next will be the harshest, most grueling training of your life. Anyone who can't keep up will be expelled from this camp. Is that understood?"
"Yes, sir!"
Everyone here was elite; no one was going to be scared off by a few strong words.
"Good!" Zephyr nodded with satisfaction.
"Then let's begin training immediately. Today's subject: Rokushiki!"
Whoosh! One second Zephyr was on the platform—next second, he was right in front of the students.
Most of the cadets jumped in surprise, completely unprepared. Only Kaito and a small handful of others remained calm.
"What I just demonstrated is one of the Rokushiki techniques—Soru. It's a movement technique that dramatically increases your speed. Once you master it, you'll be able to close in on enemies or evade attacks much more effectively!"
Zephyr then stepped into the air and hovered high above them. Looking down at the cadets, he continued his explanation:
"This is Geppo. Once you've become proficient in Soru, you can start practicing how to step on air. This will give you a form of flight. How long you can stay airborne depends entirely on your stamina."
Next, Zephyr lifted one leg—whoosh!—a sharp blue wave of energy shot out with incredible speed, striking a large boulder in the distance and splitting it cleanly in two, leaving a smooth surface where it broke.
"This is Rankyaku. It requires strong leg muscles to deliver a slash at high speed through a kicking motion!"
Zephyr landed on the ground again and extended a thick finger, suddenly jabbing toward Kaito's face so fast it was impossible to see the motion.
Kaito didn't even flinch as the finger stopped just inches from his face. He looked up and met Zephyr's gaze.
"Not bad. You kept your cool." Zephyr nodded approvingly and continued:
"This is Shigan. As the name suggests, it hits with the force of a bullet. The key is to concentrate your power into your finger and strike fast, accurately, and with lethal intent."
The cadets stared in awe. To them, seeing these kinds of techniques for the first time felt like witnessing Devil Fruit powers.
Zephyr retracted his stance and bent his knees slightly.
"Next is the Rokushiki defensive technique: Tekkai!"
Kaito was smirking internally at the thought, but Zephyr caught a glimpse of him and immediately called him out.
"Uchiha Kaito. Step forward."
"...?"
Kaito stepped out as ordered, wondering if he'd accidentally made a face or something.
"Tekkai is simple in effect—it hardens your body. The downside is, it makes you heavy. Once activated, don't expect to dodge anything. Uchiha Kaito, I want you to attack me and show everyone the effect of Tekkai."
Zephyr chose Kaito because he had the highest Power Level in the group. Having him attack would better demonstrate Tekkai's defense—and also allow Zephyr to assess Kaito's strength firsthand.
Without hesitation, Kaito entered Sage Mode and struck with Sage Art: Fist, landing a punch squarely on Zephyr's chest.
Boom! A dull thud echoed out. Zephyr's body trembled slightly. He then straightened his suit and commented:
"Solid power. Even the upperclassmen can't hit like that."
But inwardly, Zephyr was reeling.
What the hell!? This kid's punch…
That punch was on par with some Vice Admirals. And he hasn't even learned Haki or gone through basic training yet!
Zephyr gave Kaito a long, heavy look and then instructed him to continue attacking.
"Now I'll demonstrate the final Rokushiki technique: Kami-e."
Kaito readied his stance and launched another punch. Zephyr's body swayed like paper, gracefully dodging the blow without breaking posture.
"This is Kami-e. Relax your entire body to the extreme. It allows you to avoid most physical attacks!" Zephyr explained while evading.
Kaito didn't use the Sage Art: Fist this time. The attack was only a test. After all, in Sage Mode, the Fist had a chakra shockwave effect—similar to Naruto's Frog Kata—where even near-misses still landed a hit due to the surrounding nature energy. In One Piece terms, it would be similar to Ryou-style Armament Haki. Since Zephyr was demonstrating, Kaito held back.
But now that his test punch was dodged, Kaito stepped back.
Then he raised his right hand. In his palm, a black vortex began to spin—this was the power of the Rinnegan's Deva Path:
Universal Pull
Kami-e demonstration's done, so now it's my turn, Zephyr-sensei.
You said to hit you with full force? Fine. Let's see how you handle this when I pull you in with gravity.
Without warning, Kaito activated Universal Pull.
Zephyr, still in Kami-e mode, was immediately yanked toward him like a paper doll.
"NANI?!"
This was Zephyr's first time seeing Kaito use a Deva Path ability. Since he was still fully relaxed, he couldn't resist the pull in time.
Seeing himself about to get grabbed, he instantly switched to Tekkai to brace.
But Kaito, noticing the sudden shift in posture, knew Zephyr had switched states.
He immediately canceled Universal Pull and followed up with a Almighty Push—a point-blank blast that sent Zephyr, still frozen in his Tekkai stance, flying across the field. He smashed through the training camp's outer wall and vanished into the smoke and rubble.
