Astrid had given up on winning over the mean guys in school, so she set her sights on Diego, a wealthy and handsome young man who was already engaged to her sister Esmery. But Astrid didn't care; she was determined to seduce Diego and win his heart, no matter the cost.
And of course, she succeeded. Her mother laid out the perfect plan for her. She was able to be the perfect white lotus. She won the heart of Diego's parent and his sister. They were all so easy to fool.
She did what Esmery didn't do in pretense of curring up their favors. Praising them and a whole lot. And finally, they started talking on how much they wanted Astrid to be their daughter and not Esmery.
And as for Diego, he was the simplest of them all. Just a pic of her was able to make him dazed with lust.
Meanwhile, Esmery returned from her morning run, feeling elated. Her nanny, Mia, greeted her with a nutritious meal and asked why she looked so happy.
Esmery shared the news that Diego would announce her as his fiancée at the upcoming party.
"Wow! Finally, you are going to be a wife. I'm so going to miss you" Mia said with a smile.
"Oh Auntie! Stop behaving as if I'm going forever. You could always come with me. You know how much I love your delicious meal" Esmery said with a laugh and stretched out her hands, wrapping it around her Nanny.
"I'm happy you invited me but you know I can't leave the Hale's family just yet. I promised that I'll help you get your dowry from that wicked woman before I leave here. And I plan on sticking with that plan" Nanny said in a low voice.
"I love you so much and thank you by always standing beside me when no one else did. I love you" Esmery said and hugged Mia tightly.
Mia has only been the person who gave her motherly love with her never requesting for it. She always made her feel seen.
"You silly girl. Now, take this money, go to the spa and make yourself pretty. You must live up to your name and be the Greek Goddess you are. Now, shoo…" Esmery gracefully took the money from Mia and made her way outside to the garage.
As Esmery prepared to leave, she encountered Astrid in the parking lot. Astrid's face lit up with a fake smile, and Esmery noticed her sister's awkward demeanor.
"Hey…Xup…." Esmery asked with a smile.
"I'm good but tired, you know. Diego was so rough with me. He kept tossing me up amd down. I even thought he was gonna break my waist at some point." Astrid said with a smug smile.
"Oh…I will tell him to go easy on you then. I can't have you hating your brother in-law, can I?" Esmery said with an awkward smile. She didn't know what Astrid was trying to say. She felt as if whatever Astrid was saying had an underlying meaning. But, she couldn't figure it out.
"Oh…Don't bother. I doubt he will even listen to you. But, I love it when he handle me roughly too. It shows me that, he wants the best for me after all. Anyways, where are you going" Astrid smirked.
"Ummm…you know, Diego is going to announce our engagement to the company tomorrow. And, I'm going to the spa to to a few things." Esmery said with a blush on her face.
"Only if you knew" Astrid thought and motioned herself towards Esmery. They had a dynamic to hug and peck each other on the cheek.
As they hugged, Esmery detected Diego's perfume on Astrid's skin and spotted hickeys on her neck. Someone might ask how she knew the perfume because many people used it. But Esmery knew because the product was hers. And Diego is the only one who had access to that product. The realization hit her like a ton of bricks, and she recoiled in shock. Astrid, oblivious to Esmery's reaction, bid her farewell. Esmery turned to leave, her eyes scanning Astrid's dress, where she noticed a cuff link caught in the fabric.
Astrid couldn't help but smirk. Innocent little Esmery thought she was gonna be finally revealed tomorrow. She had Diego right where she wanted him, and soon, she would be the one he announced as his fiancée, not Esmery. The thought sent a thrill through her, and she couldn't wait to see the look on Esmery's face when she found out.
Esmery leaned against the car, stunned. She finally understood Akilah's warnings and the reasons behind Astrid's late nights and Diego's endorsement contract. The person she thought loved her didn't actually care.
Astrid's snide comment echoed in her mind, and that is when she understood all that underlying comments and surprisingly, Esmery felt relieved, not heartbroken. She wondered why she felt happy about Diego's infidelity with Astrid.
Esmery got into her car and drove to Damien's mansion. Damien, her best friend and confidant, opened the door. "Hey, love!" he exclaimed.
Esmery rushed into his arms, tears streaming down her face. "He cheated on me," she sobbed. Damien carried her to his room, offering her water and a listening ear.
Esmery recounted the entire story, but Damien's neutral reaction puzzled her. "You knew, didn't you?" she asked.
Damien nodded. "I wanted you to find out for yourself."
Esmery's eyes sparkled with determination. "How did you discover the truth?"
Damien explained that he had hacked into the surveillance cameras in Diego's office and the hotel rooms he booked.
Esmery's eyes gleamed. "Are the videos still available?"
Damien hesitated. "I don't want you to get hurt again. It's a sex video. And, I don't think you are ready for that."
Esmery's response sent a chill down Damien's spine. "That's exactly what I want."
Damien led the way to the hacking room, unsure what Esmery had planned. Esmery might seem like an innocent lamb but Danien knew she had claws sharper than a leopard.
