Chapter 2 - Is winning the important thing? Or should we still think about being able to meet kids with superpowers. Because that's cooler!

An older man runs through a dark corridor. Everywhere he looks, he sees a boy with long brown hair. Every time he walks, his curly hair drags along the ground. Every time he comes closer to him he looks at him with an even scarier look. Every time the man tries to hide, he finds him. Not only that, because she can also double herself up. Then all at once a new boy is in front of him. He has black hair that is still tangled. He has a sleepy look just as if he has just gotten out of bed. He plays with a pencil. "Can you help me?" The gentleman asks. Just like the girl, the boy has a white sweater with white sweatpants. Both are barefoot and have a strange tattoo. The tattoo is on the wrist. They both try to hide that tattoo when it becomes visible. "Quiet." Whispers the boy with the black hair. "Sorry to treat you like this." Says the man with a tremor in his voice. "Quiet." The boy hisses. Then the man sees the boy's tattoo. It is number 28. He now thinks about what superpower number 28 had again. "Zack." The boy points to himself. The man points to himself and says, "Dave." Then he looks up and the fear comes again. The shiver went through his whole body. The boy stands behind Zack with an angry look. Zack pulls on Dave's bleus. "Four is angry with you." "Yowie, not four." Correct Yowie. Then he looks at the hammer sitting next to him and then at the man again. Then Yowie gets a broad grin. It's getting dark and Dave is terrified. Then he screams out all in pain. He starts crying and a little later it is quiet again. You only hear an alarm. he Yowie and Zack walk back to their rooms. They nod to each other but don't say a word for the rest. The two walk to their room and softly close the door. Then Zack hears a fight in the hallway. "Was it number four?" A man shouts. Yowie is sitting on the bed, he is looking at the floor. After a few seconds there is a knock on the door. Zack hears someone screaming and is afraid it's Yowie because he heard something from number four. He therefore starts to cry loudly. It's so hard that it can't stop.

Alice stares out of the window full of thoughts. Vacation! Whether she really feels like it? No idea, she lets herself be surprised. In this red rotten car with too little space, it will probably not work out anyway. They also went on holiday in their own country. Could more go wrong? Yes, Alice hears her parents arguing about when they are going to stop at a gas station. Alice has short Orange hair that just fits in a low ponytail. She thinks that's cool and she doesn't want it much longer. Alice is one of the more muscular girls. Not that she is that muscular. She has quite a bit of muscle for a fourteen-year-old girl. When they are on the hard shoulder all at once, Alice realizes that it can be much worse. Alice takes a deep breath and she looks unhappily at the cars driving in front. She leans against the window and tries to close her eyes. When she sleeps, they will probably be on their way again in no time. Or well... She hopes so because she can already hear a tow truck coming.

Zack looks at the alarm clock in irritation. He is sitting on a wooden chair at a dining room table. In front of him are people with all kinds of strange equipment. The room has old pinkish wallpaper. He knew very well what was going to happen. As soon as the alarm goes, he had to turn it off with his thoughts. He hears the tapping of a foot against the ground. What an annoying sound! His white mask with a wide grin on the mask doesn't help. That only makes it more annoying. He turns off the sound and at that moment an alarm clock goes off. He waits for a few minutes. How long would it take before they drag him unconscious to his room. He looks at the week and tries to keep a close eye on the time, but then he feels a nasty shock.

Alice is very irritated by the bumps in the road. She looks at the window irritated, but huh? They drove through a city. This is clearly a long narrow road with only grass. And... Her clothes! She is wearing a black blouse with a high collar and black pants. With gold button pin... Just like the girl next to her! Where do all those children come from at once?! Guard... She is in a huge long overcrowded bus! The bus has blue seat upholstery that is already breaking down. The windows are drawn with waterproof marker. Pure boredom. Everywhere on the floor are children's shoes that they have taken off. The girl next to Alice has long black hair, striking black square glasses and dark skin. She is reading a magazine. "What are you reading?" Alice looks confused at the leaf. "Safety rules of the bus." She mumbles as she picks at her lip using her teeth. "That's too many small prints." Alice bends her head over the paper. The girl pushes Alice's head away in irritation. "oh Catotje, You've been reading the safety rules for over two weeks. Go and chat with your bestie." A boy with far too many freckles and his hair combed back too neatly knocks on Cato's chair. "First of all, my name is Cato and not Catotje. Secondly, she is not my bestie and thirdly..." "We have to stop this nonsense and prepare." A muscular boy stands up. With black messy hair and Janesen so dark that you can't see the pupils well. He takes off his wireless earphones. "Fourth, I don't want you to interrupt me!" Cato looks even more irritated at the boys. "oh, catotje is angry." "Daniel not funny." The muscular boy slaps the blond boy on the back of his head. "When does the bus stop? By the way? Guard... Where do we stop anyway?!" Alice looks back irritated. Daniel starts to pluck Cato's hair: "The forest, We get an assignment... We have to get to the other side from the woods. That turns out to be quite difficult!" Cato slaps his hand away in irritation. "Don't whine! Jordi has been waiting here for almost two years." "Who is Jordi?" Alice asks confused. The boy with the dark hair taps Alice's shoulder and points to himself: "I'm not doing this for the price, I'm doing this for 182. I have no idea who she is, but what I do know is that she is in danger in this scary forest." "Helping strangers is very cool." Daniel says sarcastically, which gives him another slap on the back of the head from Jordi. "Take it easy! Yes?!" Daniel takes Jordi's wireless earpiece. "But the best thing is... Nobody knows what the price is!" Cato turns enthusiastically to Alice. "The price doesn't matter." Jordi grumbles. "Of course you hope for a girlfriend." Daniel giggles. "What boy who doesn't want to save her?" Jordi blushes: "I even have a photo in my pocket." "Show!" Cato shouts enthusiastically! Jordi calmly takes the photo out of her pocket. He gives the photo to Cato doubtfully. Alice looks along and sees a girl with long brown hair. Some freckles on her nose and sparkling blue eyes. She has a small birthmark above her thin lips. "Oh, she's pretty." Daniel takes the photo from Cato after a few minutes. "Here with my photo." Jordi takes the photo from Daniel's hands. "Do you already know what she's like inside?" Alice asks. "I've heard she's very busy." Jordi blushes. "Hey the forest is insight!" Cato stands up and bends over the back of the front seat. The person behind Cato looks at her irritated: "Can you sit normally again?" "Sure." Cato says uncomfortably. Then the bus stops with a loud beep. Children dive forward and see a large forest in front of them. Alice's group looks around confused. Then the bus driver stands in the middle of the path. He looks happy but his upright posture looks scary. Jordi looks over Daniel: "That's new, he's never talked in those two years." The bus driver looks angrily at Jordi and taps irritably with his index finger at the silent sign that is there out of nowhere. It is a striking sign with large red stripes. Jordi rolls his eyes and sits down with his hands sinking into his pants. NOW it's going to happen! Daniel thinks. They are going to save the world and hopefully he will too! That would be better than giving up! He secretly does it for Harper. Where would she be now? Or would she be in this year? She would be terribly proud of him if she knew that he had found the right year. Pus the right place at the right time! That's pretty difficult! The bus driver kicks some shoes aside that are still messy on the ground. "Can I have my shoes? They are his size 39" Cato looks at the bus driver sweetly. The bus driver nods and hands Cato her shoes. Then the bus driver picks up a bright green microphone: "Hello, everyone in this beautiful bus on this beautiful day. Even at this beautiful time and the right year, of course." The bus driver winks at Daniel. Huh, would he know about time travel? The bus driver continues talking after a short silence: "I'm glad you're all here. That's quite a hassle when you have to look for something more than 700 children in two years. Jordi is just raise your hand." Jordi hesitantly raises his hand. Then he looks at Daniel spluttering. The bus driver continues. He pretends he didn't see that spluttering. So the bus driver looks at Cato: "People like him have received a photo of 182. 182 is trapped in a secret base. The children with a photo are the only people where the secret base would appear. But where? And would you survive the place with this beautiful photo?" The bus driver walks up to Jordi and pushes his arm down. Jordi nods politely to the bus driver. Then a loud beep sounds and a door opens. They are in the middle of the bizarrely large forest. The forest still looks quite creepy. Large long trees in a straight line. You can't see where that straight line stops. "When the end of the forest is in sight, the profit is in sight." The bus driver stands next to the door of his bus and hands out tickets from his bus company. Then the doors open squeaking. More than a quarter run out of the bus. There is finally something other than bus!

Zack slowly recovers. He looks around. He is sitting in his room and there is no one else with him. Then he carefully takes his stopwatch out of his pocket. Four minutes. Four minutes, three seconds and nine fast seconds to be perfect. So he has four minutes to turn off a rotten alarm clock? That is too little. Last time there were seven. That's a difference of three minutes and some seconds. What Zack should also not forget is the fast seconds. He slowly pushes the cabinet aside and takes out a pen. He writes something under seven minutes. Something he can read from his stopwatch. Four minutes. If he looks at the first time, it took 23 minutes. The time that he can try is getting shorter and shorter. That's nineteen minutes difference.

Daniel's group is the last to get out. To prevent pushing and busy shouting. "Sad if you put a tombstone on your advertising card." Alice chuckles. Cato turns around and sees Jordi leisurely walking further into the forest. She wants to run but Daniel beats her to it. Daniel doesn't want to lose sight of him in any way! "Jordi, we are doing this together." Daniel grabs him by the back of his black collar. "Nothing together! 182 needs me and I'm going to help her!" Jordi wants to walk on. This time, no one is going to tell you what to do! Or what he is not allowed to do. Jordi thinks. This time Cato grabs Jordi by the square collar. Cato thinks she has a very tight grip on Jordi, but Jordi pulls the trembling hand loose. "You're not going anywhere! We do everything together." "I don't care about that price, so I'm leaving." Daniel tries to clamp Jordi down. Unfortunately, Jordi strangles himself free but then he falls full of his face into the dark leaves. "This is not because I like you. I'll stay with you and we'll go for the win if we get 182 first." Jordi slowly gets up grumbling. Why did he say this!? Alice chuckles but also tries to stay serious: "You do look tough with all that sand. I think this is a smart choice of yours. We are quite strong." Jordi points to himself: "I'm quite strong. You don't know anything about me." "But you don't know anything about us either." Cato pulls Jordi into the forest. At that moment there is a nasty scratching in Jordi's ear. "He ducks hard. " Why are you acting so strange?" Daniel looks confused at Jordi. He is also disappointed in the fact that Jordi is doing more than he is likely to do. Maybe he wasn't the ideal one to save the world with. Cato is too enthusiastic, she runs from one side to the other. The group always calls her back in a certain order. The more they walk in the forest, the further they get lost. Every tree looks the same. "It's your turn to call her back." Alice points to Cato with a chuckle. Then she looks at Jordi with a sigh. "Haven't we walked past this ten times?!" Jordi sighs: "Well, I'm sure it's more than a hundred times." Cato is not concerned with the rest. She is looking at how they can get out of this and as snek as possible! That prize is hers! She would like to share the prize but also very much keep it for herself. "Every forest is the same." Jordi grumbles: "All trees and the less you know it, the sooner you get lost." "That's true." Alice admits. "I'm more like strong." Says Jordi with a big grin. Daniel walks on irritated. She now only does this for Harper! Daniel shuffles his feet a bit and then sees a large sign with all kinds of photos. He can't see the photos because they are too far away from him. Cato sees it too: "I don't think we have been here." She whispers. "I'm sure we haven't been here." Jordi grumbles. "Surely?" Alice chuckles. "Absolutely." sighs Jordi. Alice suddenly gets a fit of laughter: "A young hedgehog gets lost in the tropical garden of a zoo. When it gets dark, fear strikes. Every time he bumps into a cactus, he whispers in panic: "Is that you, mommy?" "Very funny, stop it." Says Jordi sarcastically. "Oh what a pity now I have another one: "Says Alice with a broad grin: "Two young hedgehogs are walking in the desert looking for their mother. One of the hedgehogs walks against a cactus and shouts: FOUND!" Alice laughs while the rest looks at her irritated. "Really not funny?" Alice asks, trying to hold back her laughter. She doesn't want to come across as too weird now. "We need to FOCUS!" Cato sighs. "Oh, concentrate. Never heard of it" Splutters Alice. "I've never heard of patience so you're not as special as you think." Jordi slaps Alice on the back of her head. "What is that for?" Alice now says more irritated than laughing. Daniel and Cato are already standing in front of the board with photos. Alice e Jordi soon follow with a sprint past them. Alice leans forward: "What flies but has no wings?" "Alice!" The whole group screams angrily. Alice would like to finish the joke: "A fly without wings, but that's actually an insect." "Alice, you're not funny." Cato rolls her eyes. "Really? I think that's a shame." Alice says with a broad grin. Now that the group finally has time for the board, there are five photos on each of a certain person. They stand still for five minutes, looking at it. The sign is old and the love of the board is already slowly rotting away. Then everyone sees the photos change. "Is this a special sign?" Cato asks. Daniel stands with his hands in his pockets: "I think it's a distraction." "At least we haven't been here." Alice chuckles. Alice hopes for an answer, but unfortunately she is not funny. Jordi leans towards the photos to take a closer look at them. Then the photos change again. A song has been written with dark blue ink. "Four." Reads Jordi. Jordi sees a Boy with brown curls, then his attention falls on something else. The group then see a black faint appear through the forest. "I don't think that's right." Daniel looks around in horror. "Children who want to scare us." Jordi chuckles. Then they see a man in a dark blue suit and a grinning mask. It slowly fades away again. "I think it's a kind of referee." Says Alice. "I think he's part of this game." Cato whispers in Daniel's ear. "Smart." Daniel lies. Daniel thinks it's terrible that she thinks she's the smartest. Harper is the smartest! They then walk on, sighing. Jordi still has questions about those photos. Would 182 also be on there? As they walk on, a card appears out of nowhere in Cato's hands. She rolls open the old, almost worn-out card. "A map of the forest." She mumbles. Cato looks at it attentively and in full concentration. "There is no lab for children with superpowers." Alice mumbles: "That's a pity, isn't it Jordi?" "But a lot of other things. So nothing is a pity." Jordi mumbles and pulls the card out of Cato's hands. "Hey, stay off my map!" Cato shouts. "Who said it's your card?" Daniel takes the card from Jordi, grinning. "Because it's my card." Jordi hisses. "Quarrel over a card? Bad!" Alice laughs herself to death. "It certainly is, that's why I want it back." Hisses Cato. "Is your name on it?" Alice asks, noticing that there is still a pen in her pocket. She takes the pen out of her pocket. Jordi takes Alice's pen and writes his name on the card. "Now my name is on it." Cato scratches Jordi's name irritated. "It's my card! I found him honest." Cato had the card firmly in her hands, while Jordi has a frown on his face. Daniel and Alice jokingly focus their eyes on the winding paths. "Why do we have to go through this rotten forest?" mumbles Daniel, tripping over a branch: "This feels like a big joke." "It does feel more and more like a huge joke."" Cato replied. "We have to find 182 and that man who scares us with his weird mask? Because a referee! It probably isn't. "What a pity you're wrong." Says Daniel sarcastically. "Shut up." Cato mumbles. Suddenly something clapped in the air, something black fluttered just above their heads. Alice quickly pulls her head back and shouts: "What was that?!" During the sound of their voices, a hum reverberated in the air that gets louder and louder. Then they see a fat blowfly flying towards them. Jordi blows the blowfly to death. Then a whole group comes after them. Around twenty blowflies that are half the size. Now Daniel pops a hum fly. The blowflies are now 400 and now they are half the size again. Alice wants to flatten one too, but Cato stops her. If you kill the hum fly but they get half the size and double themselves times twenty. "There's no other way, is there?!" Jordi shouts irritated. "Yes, be smart." Cato shouts with a broad grin. "Do you think Jordi is smart?" Daniel laughs. "At least he's smarter than you." Cato sighs. "He is not stronger." Daniel says proudly. Alice shouts back irritably: "This is not a competition." "Oh, I thought that was for you." Jordi sighs. "What do you want to do?" Daniel stomps on the ground irritated: "Sorry." Now there are 8000 hum flies and they are a lot bigger! Then Cato sees a small shimmer in the ground. She taps it with her finger and 2000 hum flies disappear. "Guys!" Cato shouts enthusiastically: "If you see glittery things on the ground, you have to tap on them. Then a few disappear!" Jordi also sees a shimmer and pushes the blowflies away to tap on them. "It really works." He says in amazement. Then Daniel turns around and sees a black shadow on the ground with very large wings. "Oh, oh I think we made someone angry. "I think running is the best option." Daniel fiddles with his sleeve. "I think that's far from the best option ." Jordi is disappointed in Daniel. He comes across as so incredibly stupid! "I think we have to find his weak side." Alice plays with her fingers. Cato sighs deeply. Why is she so disappointed in her group?! She looks unhappily at the rest: "Maybe we should talk less and watch more. Otherwise we will never get out of this forest."
