Chapter 33 - The Call That Wasn't

The shrill ring of my phone tore me out of sleep like a slap across the face. My head pounded so viciously it felt like my skull was splitting in half, the hangover clawing its way through my brain.

A low groan escaped me as I turned my head against the pillow, the sunlight stabbing through the curtains in sharp little daggers that made me wince.

I blinked hard, forcing my eyes to focus, and realized I was in my room. My sheets smelled faintly of laundry soap and whiskey. For a second, I couldn't even remember how I'd gotten here.

Then the fog cleared just enough for me to piece it together—one of my brothers. It had to have been one of them dragging me home after last night.

And if I had to guess, Mariah probably ratted me out to them, she was pissed yesterday. I don't blame her saying someone else's name is an asshole move even if we were only hooking-up.
