Did she transmigrate again?
That was Hailee's first thought. But then she realized something wasn't right. She was standing on a patch of black soil, still wearing the same clothes as before, and she wasn't wearing shoes.
The black soil area wasn't very big—just around two acres. She could see its edge at a glance.
At the center of the black soil, to her right, there was a small hill. It wasn't very tall. As she wondered how big the hill was, a number suddenly popped into her mind: ten acres.
To her left was a wide green pasture. The grassland also stretched out as far as she could see, and it was larger than the black soil area. Just like the hill, it covered about ten acres.
In front of her stood a small straw hut. It was really tiny, probably only around ten square meters.
Seeing all this, a lot of information flashed through Hailee's mind.
This was a portable space, one that could be used for planting and raising animals.
The space was very user-friendly, already neatly divided into different areas.
The black soil was for planting crops and vegetables. Whether it was wheat or rice, anything she planted would grow, and time passed differently here.
Ten days inside the space equaled one day in the outside world. For example, if corn normally took 100 days to ripen, in this space it would only take ten. Outside, people could only harvest crops once or twice a year—especially in colder places. But this space had no such limits.
Once she harvested a batch, she could immediately plant the next one. It worked all year round, allowing endless planting and harvesting.
The hill on the right was for growing fruit trees. It didn't matter if the fruit was from the north or the south, or if it needed hot or cold weather—if she planted it on the hill, it would grow and bear fruit.
Compared to these amazing areas, the grassland on the left seemed more ordinary. It was only for raising poultry and livestock.
Chickens, ducks, geese, pigs, cows, sheep—once she placed them on the grassland, she didn't need to worry about them.
The straw hut, though old and small, was also essential. It worked like a natural refrigerator.
Whether it was fruit, vegetables, or grains—after they were harvested, they could spoil quickly if not stored properly.
Time stood still inside the straw hut. Whatever she placed inside would stay exactly the same until she took it out. It wouldn't spoil, no matter how long it stayed there.
Wasn't that just like a perfect cold storage?
Besides all this, while sorting through her sudden burst of memories, Hailee discovered something else that surprised her. Near the right side of the straw hut's entrance, a bowl was embedded into the ground.
Inside the bowl was clear water.
But this wasn't ordinary water—it was spiritual spring water.
Humans, animals, and plants could all drink it. If a person drank it regularly, it would improve their health. It wouldn't make someone live forever, but it could increase lifespan and reduce sickness.
For plants and animals, watering with diluted spring water helped them grow better.
Behind the straw hut, close to the pasture, there was also a small river.
The river was hidden in a light mist, and its source couldn't be seen. The water seemed endless. The entire space could be irrigated using water from this river.
Hailee guessed the reason the river was next to the grassland was to make it easier for the animals to drink.
Luckily, the space was connected to her soul. She could manage everything just by thinking about it. Otherwise, taking care of the whole space alone would have been difficult.
With the space and the spring, Hailee felt excited. It was a habit she picked up from the apocalypse—having no food made her nervous. Now that she had this space, she urgently wanted to fill it up.
Only when she saw storage full of food could she truly relax.
As for how the space came to be? She had just found out. It used to belong to that Zombie King in her previous life.
That Zombie King had space-related powers, and this was his space. After Hailee perished together with him, the space traveled with her soul to this world.
Now, the space was completely bound to Hailee's soul. Even if someone knew she possessed a treasure and wanted to kill her for it, it wouldn't work.
If Hailee died, the space would collapse.
After understanding the secret of the space, Hailee rushed to the spiritual spring. Looking at that bowl of spring water, she couldn't help but swallow hard.
She silently whispered "out," and she returned to her room. On the table in her room, there was a kettle and an enamel mug. Her mother had left it there in case she got thirsty. Hailee picked up the enamel mug, intending to return to the space.
She wanted to drink the spring water.
Just as the thought crossed her mind, she stopped herself.
There was so little spring water in the space. The bowl was even smaller than the enamel mug. Could the mug even fit inside the bowl?
Besides, she didn't know if the spring water could replenish itself. If she scooped out a whole mug and finished it, wouldn't she feel terrible?
Most importantly, she didn't know what the spring water could do. She didn't want to have just started a new life, only to end up being treated like a monster and killed.
Thinking that through, she put the enamel mug back.
She waited until everyone in the family left for work. Then, Hailee went to the kitchen and found a small spoon. Holding the spoon, she went into the space and carefully scooped a spoonful of spring water, taking a cautious sip.
Hailee smacked her lips. Aside from a refreshing sweet taste, she didn't feel much.
About half an hour later, she felt her stomach churn. She quickly ran to the toilet.
Afterward, she noticed a layer of gray sweat on her body. When she rubbed her skin, it turned into mud.
She quickly fetched water from the well and, despite the cold, wiped herself down thoroughly with a towel.
A whole basin of water turned filthy, but she finally felt comfortable, like she had come back to life.
She took out a small mirror and carefully examined herself. Hailee touched her face.
The original body had fair skin, but growing up in the countryside and suffering from poor nutrition left it somewhat rough.
Now, her pores were gone, and her skin looked much smoother than before.
The change wasn't huge, and if someone didn't look closely, they wouldn't notice.
Once she was sure no one would suspect anything, Hailee finally relaxed.
Feeling the strength return to her body, Hailee became even more satisfied. She hadn't forgotten the original owner's grudge.
She thought she'd have to recover for a few days before doing anything, but now she realized she could act tonight.
It helped that Mike was a teacher. To show his dedication, he stayed late at the school grading assignments every day before returning to the educated youth spot. And to get from the school to the Chun Geng Brigade, he had to take a shortcut through the threshing ground.
The threshing ground was filled with haystacks, and the village children loved playing hide-and-seek there.
It was also the perfect place to ambush someone.
