Alvaro took a deep breath, knowing what he would go through tonight. He hoped Vlad wouldn't take him to the witch's lair again.
Sylas was still staring intently at Kai. He looked down at the slave, feeling guilty. He asked a guard for a cloak, then wrapped it around Kai's body.
Kai lowered his gaze, feeling Sylas's concern and gentle touch. His fear and worry vanished instantly. His heart warmed. He would never regret getting into trouble if, in the end, he could receive Sylas's attention like this.
Kai's face flushed, remembering Sylas's worried embrace earlier. It turned out he wasn't the only one afraid of losing.
"Can you walk?" Sylas asked.
Kai looked up and nodded.
Sylas pulled Kai closer, wrapping an arm around his waist. Then he looked at Vlad and Alvaro in turn.
He already knew what he could do to help Alvaro.
"We're going to the rest house," Sylas ordered.
