Chapter 216 - Chapter 216: The Dueling Ladder and Darcy's Trap

After all, as one of the people standing at the top of this world, Nick Fury regained his composure after a brief moment of surprise.

"The Snake Lady, where should we go to find her?" Fury glanced at this place that was no less than a small city and said, "I don't want to go fishing for a needle in the ocean."

"Snake Lady has always been there, never changed," Darcy said. His forced consumption of fun wine flew over, and after catching it, he showed the trademark on it, "You'll soon know why Snake Lady is the most noble person here."

Fury looked over. In the bottle, a silver hand held a bottle of golden wine.

He looked up and saw the Silver Hand banner flying high on the tallest building in the center.

"Let's go."

"Wait," Darcy opened the wine bottle and took a gulp, burping ice bubbles, "It's you who is going, not me."

Fury said irritably, "Are you kidding me?"

"Sorry, Fury." Darcy looked nervous, his eyes dodging, "Bringing you in already violated regulations. If anyone finds out, I won't be able to survive in the Foreign Ministry."

To be honest, Darcy bringing a Muggle here despite the great risk was already going above and beyond.

Darcy lowered his voice and said, "Don't let anyone know you're a Muggle."

"Muggle?" Fury asked in confusion, "What's that?"

"People who can't do magic," Darcy nervously swallowed, "Especially American Muggles. People here don't really like Americans."

The former U.S. Secretary of Defense had done something foolish that caused the entire Plymouth settlement's goodwill toward Americans to drop to freezing point.

Fury caught a glimpse of the drunk wizard who used the wrong magic and set his wizard robes on fire, and his eyelid twitched, "I'll do my best."

"Good luck. Snake Lady is on the top floor of Silver Hand Johnny. You can take the golden elevator to get there."

Darcy hesitantly patted Fury's shoulder, finally leaving only one sentence, "Take care."

After saying that, he joined the firefighting operation with his wine bottle. He shouted, "Let me do it" and rushed up to pour his only drink on the fire. As a result, the fire became even more fierce. It was still the shop owner who used a water-summoning charm to eliminate the tragedy of burning crotch.

Fury pushed open the wooden door and walked out. As soon as he stepped out, he saw a group of children chasing something, charging through the crowd toward him.

"Catch that Niffler!"

The child wearing a newsboy cap saw an adult, and his eyes lit up as he called out urgently.

Fury looked down and saw a platypus-like little creature running very fast on all fours. While running, it stuffed a shiny watch into its pouch.

Faced with such a situation, Fury naturally chose to stand by and watch. He silently stepped back, and the Niffler slipped right past his feet.

The child's eyes widened in disbelief, as if experiencing malice from the adult world for the first time. He didn't know that Nick Fury's meddlesome behavior in 1995 had taught him to keep his distance when facing unknown animals.

Watching the resentful-looking child chase the Niffler away, Fury walked toward the Silver Hand Johnny building. Owls and paper airplanes were coming and going at the entrance.

"Professor Hagrid, why are we shopping here?"

Fury walked through the golden, ornately patterned high archway. It was very tall, tall enough for fairy tale giants to shop here. A figure even taller than the Hulk walked by, with two chattering children beside him—a red-haired boy and a platinum-haired girl.

The platinum-braided girl looked proud and said with her head held high, "I know, because this is the best building in the world, with all wizard goods and the most complete selection of flying broomstick models in the world!"

"Haha, that's right, Alice gets 10 points."

"That's not fair, Professor, I was the one who asked the question!"

"Petty Stella, bleh!"

"Professor, I see Grawp, he's over there!"

The playful voices faded away as the tall figure walked toward an even taller, honest giant, surrounded by two children running in circles and playing.

Fury watched for a while and shrugged. In the magical world, what was strange about having people bigger than the Hulk?

Walking inside, he realized he had still underestimated this skyscraper that rivaled Stark Tower. The interior space was more than ten times larger. Various shelves, books, and twelve continuously operating elevators.

But Fury didn't see a golden elevator. He randomly stopped a young man who looked like a service employee, "Excuse me, where is the golden elevator?"

"Golden elevator?" The smiling service employee froze, looking Fury up and down, "You don't look like someone who would go there."

This made Fury very unhappy. He was at least the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., an important figure in the outside world. And you think I'm not worthy?

"You can't judge a book by its cover," Fury said. "Just tell me where it is."

"Good luck."

Unexpectedly, the service employee wasn't angry. On the contrary, he personally led Fury to the golden elevator. It was an elevator not in the main hall. They wound around rows of shelves and through corridors. They reached their destination.

The lonely golden elevator stood at the end of the corridor with no one around. The service employee enthusiastically pressed the only floor button in the elevator for Fury. He stood outside the door waving goodbye to Fury.

Inexplicably, Fury felt uneasy.

The elevator was very high. It didn't stop in the middle and headed upward. The elevator was transparent all around, like a golden cage where you could see outside.

Fury saw this amazing magical department store. Long-legged ladders and flying teapots and books. After passing through a floor with a very nice aerial garden, the elevator stopped.

The door opened, and Fury hesitantly walked out. He tugged at his windbreaker and looked around with his one eye. This place didn't look like an office, but more like a gym.

He walked forward, and after passing through a corridor, he saw a spacious room. Sunlight shone in nicely, and grunting sounds rose and fell here.

Fury accidentally kicked something that rolled forward with a clatter. He looked down and saw it was a dumbbell.

The figures inside suddenly stopped. He simply walked in and saw a group of muscle-bound men in tank tops, their muscles piled up like stones. And they had one thing in common—they all looked unfriendly.

Fury was sure he had entered a shopping mall in the magical world. How did the style suddenly change?

Those muscle-bound men's gazes moved in unison to the only person still training who hadn't looked at Fury. After finishing deadlifts, the bald strongman's muscles were even more impressive, swollen like the Red Hulk.

He threw down the weights, and the whole gym seemed to shake.

"Another one."

A low voice sounded as the super muscle-bound man turned around. Looking at Fury, he said fiercely, "Since you took the Dueling Ladder up here, be prepared to fight!"

Dueling Ladder?

Fury looked at the menacing, super muscle-bound men and suddenly felt like he had misjudged people. He slowly uttered a sentence.

"Motherfucker."

Damn Darcy, this is the route you found for me? Working out with a bunch of gym muscle-heads? Or do you think I, someone who just got rescued, can take down these people with my bare hands?

He didn't know that for wizards, this life-threatening common knowledge really didn't exist.
