Chapter 3 - Chapter 3. Guardian of Tornell

He was getting closer and closer to the base, ship in view. He felt something bellow his leg, or rather lack of, as he fell down a deep hole. When he landed he saw a huge underground city littered with ancient buildings.

All but one day we on the brink of collapse. That building stood in the middle of the city, it's streets made like a maze. If he couldn't fly he would not have been able to get to it. Or so he thought. He tried flying but it was impossible. For some reason his powers didn't work here. It weirded him out as it never happened before. His skin started to shiver more the deeper he got in the maze of streets. On the walls he saw blood, ancient scriptures, graffiti, weapons and even bones if they haven't broken down already. After wandering for a while, or so he thought, he didn't really have a sense of time down here, he finally reached the entrance to the building.

The building was massive, even bigger than he thought, the doors were broken and there were no windows. The roof was angled, broken due to the stress underground, but also it's age. As he entered he saw murals of all kinds of people, on the floors were names and years, probably when they lived.

"Must be a church or something similar"-he thought to himself.

At the far end of the building was a staircase leading further down. He hesitated, not sure if it was smart do descend given how he couldn't use his powers here. After a brief pause he stepped forward and descended into the pitch black abyss below him.

As he reached the bottom he grew more and more uneasy. Something about this creeped him out. He felt the room was big, he couldn't explain how, he just knew. He stepped forward but stopped the moment chills crawled down his spine. He stood locked in place, his coursgeous, fearless attitude crumbling as he awaited his inevitable doom.

But the doom never came. Sudden light engulfed the room blinding him.

"What are you doing here?"- a mysterious voice echoes thought the room.

"Just... exploring" he said still feeling shivers in his spine

"I guessed that much. But tell me, Taiji, do you know where you are?"

His fears grew even bigger when he heard his name. How cound the stranger know his name? What was he going to do?

"You must be wondering how I knew your name, I mean I foresaw you asking the question. Yes that's right, I possess the power of foresight. It allows me to see the future up to a certain point. I also know your power is dimension. It comes from your sword Jigen."

"You even know the name of my sword, who in the hell are you?" He said shocked but careful not to insult the man

"A son of someone who died in Rien, just like you. But unlike you I know something about it. I know the truth about your sword."

Taiji composed himself and looked around. The man had long golden hair, stubble for a beard, was skinny, even skinnier than him. His sword placed neatly next to him

"Well you piqued my interest. But there is something you want in return for the information am I right?"

"Correct" said the man: "I want to come with you, that's all I ask. I have no way off this planet. Allow me to travel alongside you and I'll tell you everything I know"

"It's a deal then" Taiji said eagerly

"Come"

The man stood up and walked into a room with a fireplace and chairs around it

"It was once a meeting room for the priests of this temple, still served well"

He lit the fireplace and sat down

"Hope you don't have somewhere to be, because this will take a while"
