They didn't need to hire moving services because the facilities at Jonas Li's house were very complete. A large suitcase containing a few clothes was enough as a symbol of leaving the Li family's residence today. Daniel Jiang followed Jeremy Li's instructions to stay at the pavilion near the main house, remaining as Chelsea's driver and personal bodyguard.
"Young mistress, the three of us are servants assigned by the master to work in this house." They bowed respectfully to Chelsea.
"Ah, okay, welcome to you all. We'll be the new residents of this house together."
"Of course. Do you need any help, ma'am?" Chelsea shook her head.
"No, I just want to soak in warm water. You can do other things; have a good workday." She walked up to the second floor, re-entering the master bedroom with the largest bed, but Jonas's words lingered in her mind.
"You can occupy the master bedroom if you want, but I'll sleep in another room, wherever you like, because it's my house." Chelsea scoffed as the annoying sentence replayed in her head. Jonas always emphasized his refusal to engage with Chelsea.
"I'm the most devoted wife, allowing you to do whatever you want without conditions. It's not a problem to take over your house, is it?" She dropped onto the bed, staring at the ceiling.
Jonas quickly returned to the office after dropping Chelsea off, reluctant to engage in lengthy conversations or interactions with his "reluctant" wife. It was as if being around Chelsea drained all his energy.
Indulging her body's desires, Chelsea soaked in a hot bath with a comfortable temperature. She did this for a considerable amount of time until the temperature dropped, then put on a black camisole as a finishing touch.
The short hand on the wall clock pointed to eight, but Jonas still hadn't returned, despite Chelsea requesting the servants to prepare dinner for them.
"Sometimes I feel strange about myself because I'm acting like a dutiful wife." She snorted. "Jonas can eat anywhere, but what about Uncle Jiang? Has he eaten?"
Then, Chelsea asked the servants to deliver food to Daniel at the pavilion. She hadn't seen him since entering the main house.
"Thank you for dinner, Miss Chelsea."
"Hmm, do you have cigarettes? I forgot to buy them." The woman appeared at the pavilion without changing into more modest attire, not hesitating to wear only a camisole in front of Daniel.
"Cigarettes? Why haven't you quit that bad habit?" He still allowed Chelsea to take a cigarette, and they sat on the pavilion's porch, enjoying the evening air.
"It's hard to quit this habit." Smoke wafted from her lips.
"If your adoptive parents knew, they'd probably be angry."
"Then don't tell them. Isn't it easier that way?"
"Hmm." Daniel took a sip of his beer, which he had brought with him when he met Chelsea.
"He's back."
A car entered the driveway after the guard opened the gate as wide as possible. The headlights briefly illuminated the pair. However, Chelsea remained nonchalant as Jonas got out of the car and glanced in their direction.
The woman continued interacting with Daniel, sipping her cigarette, looking very relaxed. A devoted wife would welcome her husband's return, not like this.
Jonas acted coldly, showing no interest in joining them, and disappeared into the house.
"Why are you still here? Go back home," Daniel said, gently urging her to leave.
"He's an adult; he can take care of himself."
"Your attitude is changing; sometimes you try to show concern, and then you become indifferent again."
Chelsea scoffed, Daniel's words ruining her good mood. She discarded the cigarette butt and stepped on it until it was crushed, then left without saying a word.
"Hmm, when will that woman behave more maturely?"
Daniel muttered to himself as Chelsea walked further away. He took another swig of his beer, finishing the can.
Upon entering the house, Chelsea saw her husband heading towards the master bedroom, so she followed him.
"Have you eaten? I asked the servants to prepare dinner," Chelsea said, folding her arms across her chest, standing behind Jonas, who was busy unbuttoning his shirt.
"I'm not hungry."
"Oh, that Miss June must have prepared dinner for you, right?" Jonas remained silent. "She got close to you again after your relationship with Shirley ended. Her obsession is quite remarkable."
"Chelsea Moon."
"Yes."
Jonas turned around, glancing briefly at his wife's attire tonight. "Instead of meddling in my affairs, you should focus on improving yourself."
"What's wrong with me?" Her deep breath was a clear indication of something.
"It's very inappropriate to wear such revealing clothing in front of other men, especially when you're a married woman."
"Oh, are you jealous?"
"I could never be jealous of you." He walked towards the bathroom.
"Good, so I don't need to improve myself. Besides, you're not interested."
The bathroom door slammed shut, and Chelsea smiled dismissively.
"Men are still men; of course, I'm very patient."
When Jonas finished his shower, he couldn't find Chelsea in the room. For some reason, he wanted to find her. He went to the kitchen because Chelsea had mentioned dinner, but only the servants were there.
When Jonas remembered something, he headed towards the front door and saw Chelsea back at the pavilion, interacting with Daniel. She was even laughing cheerfully at a joke shared by her personal driver.
"Are her ears not functioning properly?" Jonas should have been indifferent, but he was annoyed because Chelsea had ignored his suggestion earlier in the room.
Jonas's long strides quickly brought him to Chelsea. His wife was confused because he suddenly appeared behind her. "What's going on?"
"Join me for dinner."
He pulled Chelsea's hand, leading her into the house and releasing her only when they reached the kitchen. "I think your hearing is impaired."
"What else?"
"That camisole." He pulled out a chair for her before sitting down.
Chelsea scoffed. "Jonas Li, my body follows my own rules. Besides, he's Uncle Jiang; he won't be provoked, unless I wear something this revealing in front of your brother. Who knows what will happen next."
"Ah, you're quite close to your driver." Although it was a simple sentence, it clearly expressed annoyance.
"If not with him, then with whom? With you?"
Jonas remained silent, but then stood up and turned to his wife. His cold demeanor and expression still lingered.
"I've lost my appetite. So, do it yourself." He walked past Chelsea, leaving the kitchen.
"Men are indeed moody. It's best to interact with Uncle Jiang as closely as possible when in front of Jonas." There was another room next to the master bedroom; Jonas used it to rest tonight.
One of the reasons he moved houses was to have separate bedrooms from Chelsea and to freely show his indifference towards her without worrying about Jeremy's or Elena's reactions. He made the best decision.
As he lay down, using one arm as a pillow, he opened his phone, trying to call Shirley again. However, it's likely that his ex-girlfriend had changed her number.
Since meeting at the airport, Jonas couldn't contact Shirley again. So, she would probably forget him, wouldn't she? Allowing their five-year love to end in the most painful way possible.
