The sky rumbles and the clouds are dark, the pitter patter of the rain follows soon after. Six struggles to hold her umbrella but the wind is so strong it blows it out of her hand ,she covers her head with her book bag as she rushes to school.
She makes sure to avoid puddles of water but a car drives in one and a large mass kf brown water slmost splashes her, but its stops on midair, so does the vehicle and even the rain, then she notices the green aura around the street.
"If you want me to thank you,.its not coming."
"Ungrateful much?" Zane asks with his hand in his pocket walking behind her. "Here." He puts his leather jacket on her head. "Put this on."
"I didn't say I was cold." She says putting it on.
"Now that I've done my good deed for the day, I can do whatever I want now."
She shakes her head as she walks beside him. "You are incorrigible."
"Are you sure that word's not too big for you?"
"No wonder you don't have any friends."
"I have friends." He scoffs in a high pitched tone.
"I don't count."
"You definitely don't, you're like a remora fish to my mighty whale."
"Or a remy to your Lingunini."
"At least you admit you're a rat."
She hits him over the head with her book bag.
"What's your brother like?"
"How did you know about him?"
"Oh...um...you mentioned him the evening when we first met."
"Oh yeah...I guess I did when younattacked me and dipped."
"Yeah, I'm sorry about that ."
"It's cool....So Tim...he's...the best. The smartest guy I know, you see those hover trains? He designed them."
"He must be a genius..."
"...His boss didn't see it that way, he took all the credit and left Tim with nothing to show for his work."
"Can't he sue?"
" He couldn't afford it and...he wouldn't go through with it."
"Why not?"
"He's too kind hearted, he gets stepped on alot, that's one thing I can't stand about him."
"So that's why you have a disgusting personality. "
Zane doesn't respond, his eyes are facing the ground, something on his mind.
"Um...where is he now?"
"Who? Oh right, he had to travel for a tech summit.He'll.be gone for a few months Hopefully he gets to showcase his ideas and get credit this time."
"Don't worry if he's as smart as you, he'll be fine."
"Thank you." As he says this, they reach the end of the dome and are in front of the school gate but something isn't right.
"What the....?" Zane asks
The two large 10foot gates are now laying on the ground, Six walks forward but Zane puts his hand in front of her.
"Get behind me."
They both walk slowly butas they enter, they see ass bleeding from.the shoulder, pressing aginstnthe wound.
"Kids...get outta here."
"Al ,what happened?"
Al coughs as he struggle to talk.
"A sh...shooter broke into the school, he says he was looking... for the hacker...It got really messy."
As six calls emergency services, she looks around ans sees the A.E.R antennas have been destroyed.
"Zane..." she calls his attention to it.
Zane snaps his fingers and the green dome appears around the entire school.
"At least there's one upside to this. Whoever was here likely blew the A.E.R antennae possibly making it easier for their attack."
He looks down at Al whose body has slowed down due to the effect of the dome.
"At least it'll slow down his bleeding, right, Six?"
He realises Six is also frozen in the dome so
He snaps again allowing six to move. They walk to the kiosk where the food dispenser is knocked over revealing the wiring beneath. From there, they see a giant hole in the wall of one of the buildings.
"Pryce's office." Six mutters
"What did you say? "
"Oh, I said it looks like one of the teachers offices."
"You've been a student for two weeks and you already know your way around the school.I'm almost impressed."
She hisses and walks towards the wreckage, papers scattered about, the desk upturned with Pryce underneath appearing to struggle to move the table.
"We should help him."
"I can't, I can only allow one other person or two inanimate objects aside myself while in the dome."
"I meant move the table off him."
"Oh right...right."
He snaps his fingers and he and he's able to move the table off of Pryce. Six takes something out of Pryce's pocket as he does so.
"What's that? A flash drive with test questions?"
"Umm..."
She's caught off guard but sees something odd in the hallway behind Zane .
"Umm...Zane...did you say you only two living things can be animate in your dome?"
"Yeah? Why...?" He turns around and sees a silhouetted figure tall, about his hight with goowing purple eyes.
His body emits a blueforce field similar to the ones emitted by the A.E.R. He runs towards them, Zane stands in front of the six and puts his hands and swings a punch at him but the figure who Zane can now see is wearing a black hoodie and a white skull mask slides under the attack.
He rushes towards six, she pulls out pocket knife and swings at him but he kicks her in the face and reaches for her pocket, Zane however grabs the back of his hoodies and pulls him back.
Six, run!.
She runs out of the hallway to escape him.
The man hits Zane in the chest with his shoulder and punches him in the face, he tries tries to go after six again but Zane puts him in a "full nelson" from behindand slams him against the table.
Zane starts sweating as the glow on the his veins of his hand start to fade.
The man notices and pulls out a black box and pushes the button.
He speaks in a monotonous robotic voice.
"You can either focus on maintaining the dome or you can run after me and risk that bomb going off, by the way, it has the same blast radius as your dome so choose wisely.
He runs off after Six. She hides the flash drive in a drawer in the chemistry lab but he sees her doing that and smashes through the window beside her, she shrieks as she takes the drive, then he pulls out a gun.
He fires at her and one of the bullets hits her shoulder.
"Nn...no."
She activates her ability and her veins glow white but he keeps walking forward to her.
"The device, hand it over and I promise to make this quick."
She raises the flash drive up but as he's about to take it, she swallows it and tackes him to the ground.
"Don't make me laugh."
She mocks.
He looks around for the weapon but he sees Six holding the gun to him.
"Who are you and what do you want with my friends' files?"
"You don not have the guts to pull the trigger."
She bursts into a high pitched laugter.
"Have you ever killed someone before? "
She lowers the gun
"Wouldn't you like to know?"
She says raising the gun and fires two shots t his head fircingbit to swing back but he keeps standing.
His head slowly ves back into place.
There's a moment of unsettling silence as Zane slowly approaches the laboratory, he's straining to maintain the dome as he holds the explosives.
Six runs to him and they both hear the cold unsettling voice as the man is standing with his head still tilted backwards with holes in his skull.
"I knew I should've unloaded it."
He quickly swings forward then he rushes forward on all fours at an alarming rate like a rabid animal, Zanewhose caught of guard is too slow to react as he jabs Zane in the neck then rushes towrards Six who evades the attack and catches Zane whispering something in his ear.
He smiles and says
"That's a bad idea" as he struggles to breathe.
He snaps and suddenly hisnown body is enveloped by the dome.
"Smart...you let his body subconsciously focus on maintaining the zone." He unsheaths a knife.
"Makes him an easier target though."
He throws the throwing knives at Zane and six runs in front of him and the knives hit her in the back.
"Wow, you're a real idiot. You should save yourself but what do I care?" He walks toward her.
"He protected me all my life, I won't leave him !"
Her eyes whiten and his veins glow and a large burst of electricity emerges from her body and holds the explosives causing the bombs to short-circuit.
"Electricity? That wasn't part of her file."
"Trust me, there is no plan to handle me."she says as her hair stands on end.
The man presses a button on his belt and the A.E.R field around him starts to grow.
Six with a wide smile walks to the the edge of the A.E.R field and the electicity from tedevice siphons into an electric aura that starts to grow around six.
He crouches down and leaps towads Zane but six goes down as well as well and they pass each other and there's a moment of no movement between both of them.
"TIck...tick..."
The man chimes as strapped an explosive to six.
She simply grins.
She says holding the electrical device around his belt buckle, the aura round her overloads the device and it short-circuits in her hand.
As the device deactivates the zone envelops all of them.
After a while Zane's body can't maintain the zone and it fades just as the paramedics and police arrive. Six runs to catch the man but he throws a smoke grenade and disappears.
The paramedics tend to everyone, they put a cold compress on Zane's neck and Six is explaining what happened tonthe police.
Then they see the paramedics putting someone in a bodybag.
Zane sees the face as they zip up the body and pushes them away.
"No...no...no!"
"We're sorry kid, there's not much more we could do."
Six moves towards him when a policeman stops her.
"Miss you need to come with us."
He says as he puts handcuffs on six and drives her off to the policestation.
