Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

Alan set off towards the red stripe boar territory. On the way he encountered another level 2 horned rabbit. This time he decided to try something new out of curiosity.

Alan climbed a tall tree observing the horned rabbit that was 30 meters ahead of him. He nocked an arrow and took aim at the stray rabbit. He also induced his basic flame ball spell into his arrow for an additional damage.

Fusing a magic spell with the equipment was a special move he once saw on TV, used by a magic swordsman on his sword. So he thought he might be able to do something similar by applying to the arrow.

He took aim and waited for an opportunity. But before he could release it, he started to smell something burning. Yes his arrow was on fire. The image in his mind was of a flaming arrow with it's tip on fire, or that elemental arrow he saw on tv.

In this case the fire was burning the arrow. It would not survive the journey at its current state as most of it is charred. The durability was dropping fast, it's already below 30%.

'Looks like I chewed more than I could bite' Alan thought as he discarded the charred arrow. He realised he is still sloppy and needed to practice more before he could execute this move. This move required more precise control which would take some practice.

He took another arrow and just induced regular mana into it this time. This is the basic technique used by everyone to reinforce the weapon. He released at the perfect moment. The arrow struck the chest of the rabbit and it was killed in one shot.

Alan looked at his status panel

Level: 0 (45/100)

He got 15 exp just like his previous hunt.

He checked the map and confirmed his position. His position was not that far off from the goblin encampment so he decided to pay them a visit. He then took the loot from the rabbit which was 3 origin coins. He looked in the direction and rushed there.

Unfortunately he was a little late and there was already a team engaged with the goblins. He didn't want to attract any troubles so he could only give up. The dungeon was large enough and there was enough for everyone.

He departed to the red stripe boar territory. He decided to just stick with applying mana to the arrows. He decided to scout the whole territory. The red stripe boars were around level 3 from the outer edge, and increase as we go inside.

He decided to check the boss monster at the centre. Soon he found a group of boar around 7 to 8. They ranged from level 6 to 7 and had a boss with level 8. Boss was very eye-catching with a greyish white hide and a body twice as big as the others.

'It's not good to pick up a fight now. I will come back later.' Alan decided to avoid them for now. Soon he found three level 2 boars in the outer edge. He kept a distance of 40 meters.

He recalled the red stripe boar's weak point. Red stripe boar likes to ram into its opponents and its main attack consists mainly of a charge skill and a head butt. So it had a strong head and neck so the defenses in these areas were tight.

Their weak points were mainly a part of their under belly which is also very tender. And the area at its joints of forelimbs. The parts of the joints were tricky but the belly was not feasible as it is cautious.

He targeted the weak point and rapidly shot three shots. First two shots got on the target. Third one missed the weak point and hit the back. The attacks landing on the weak spots automatically count as critical shots and deal extra sets of damage. And mana coated arrows on top of that, one hit kill was confirmed.

Two of them got killed in one shot, and the other got agitated and seeing its companions getting killed in one shot it went berserk. It raged and rushed towards the direction from which the arrows came.

Alan was smart enough and had already left his position after he shot his arrows. The boar in a frenzy rushed forward and hit a tree. It fell into a stunned state for a while and Alan, seeing the opportunity, shot his arrow and obtained the kill.

He checked his panel

 level: 0 (95/100)

He got 25 exp per kill. He was more motivated seeing this. He only needed one more kill to reach level 1.

Landing a shot on the weak point is kinda very difficult now considering the boar is on full rampage.

So he decided to use the special maneuver used by professional archers. Shooting arrows rapidly while changing positions with the high agility. His agility was not as high but it is acceptable.

So he kept his distance and tried this out. His first shot had already taken out 75 hp out of its total 300 hp. He slowly chipped away its hp during the maneuver. And after 12 arrows with 8 hits and 4 misses he finally took it down.

Then a notification finally popped up in front of him.

[You have broken through to level 1 obtained 10 free attribute points]

Alan was delighted to see the notification. 10 free attribute points. This can increase his grinding efficiency by a lot. He thought about the general attribute allocation for mystic archer class. The hybrid class had high agility and spirit attributes.

Since he had 10 free attribute points, he calculated the attribute points allocation according to his previous planned ratio. Archers heavily depended on bows. So the strength attribute affects the strength of the bow one can wield.

His agility is also very low compared to archer talents. So he allocated 2 points for strength, 5 points for agility, 1 points for physique, and 2 points for spirit.

According to what he recalled about various classes, for mage archer hybrid class the attribute allocation in the ratio of 1 strength : 1.5 agility : 1 physique : 1.5 spirit is the most optimal. Keeping them around that ratio would be good.

Allocation in this ratio can somewhat be helpful in class selection trials for the mystic archer class. So now that his attributes were somewhat evened out, he turned on the automatic free attribute allocation in the panel.

He could get 10 free attributes when leveling up. So allocated them as 2 strength : 3 agility : 2 physique : 3 spirit. Now the panel will automatically allocate it in that ratio whenever he leveled up.

"Now it looks all evened out"

His new attributes after reaching level 1 and evening out were as follows.

Strength: 7

Agility: 11

Physique: 6

Spirit: 12

He checked the loot. He got about 23 spirit coins in total from three boars. And there was some leather which was dropped from the last rampaging one.

He checked the arrows he shot. Out of the 8 arrows that hit it only 3 of them survived, with 2 of them with around 40% durability left and the remaining with 73% durability.

After collecting all the arrows and the loots he spent his time clearing out red striped boars in the territory along the outer regions.

After spending around 3 hours he had broken through to level 6. His attributes got a massive boost. He had almost wiped out all the low level boar around the territory. The only ones that were left should be the level boss at the centre.

"Hope the boss will put up a good fight" Alan marched into the area where the boss resided.
