The woman stayed frozen in place, her knees still pressed into the damp ground. She didn't dare move.
"I said I'll bring more information," she repeated, her voice barely holding steady. "Just give me a chance."
The fingers that had gripped her jaw loosened and slowly pulled away. She felt them slide off, but the coldness lingered.
The forest stilled as if it were holding its breath.
The witch hummed, as if satisfied, however, the sound dragged through the air like a blade over stone.
"I told you… I hate lies and betrayal," the Derailed Witch whispered, her voice no longer teasing. "Did you think fear would earn you mercy?"
The cold fingers held her jaw tighter, this time digging into the woman's jaw with enough force to draw blood. She gasped, but the scream never made it out.
