'Oh no, they have caught up so quickly.'
I dragged my body behind a tree, my heart pounded in my ears like a war drum.
"White, where are you going?" I yelled in a hushed voice, when he suddenly walked up to the two men.
"Come back!"
He stopped in his tracks and turned his head. His silvery grey eyes were calm with a glint of pain dancing in their depths.
Before I could say anything, he blurred through the forest… leaving me alone.
He left me, even when he knew that we were still in danger. 'No, White will never leave me. Maybe he is trying to lead them away like before… it just didn't work this time around.'
I swallowed the urge to call him back. I rested my back on the tree, trying to catch my breath. Every second felt like an eternity.
I panicked when their footsteps approached closer, the twigs snapped under their boots.
'You can't just wait here for them to catch you. Do something, anything.' My eyes scanned the forest floor, landing on a medium-sized rock.
