I froze in my spot as my heart pounded in my ears.
Suddenly a hand covered my lips and pulled me to the corner. I struggled to break free, and panic rushed up my spine.
I kicked the air, and my fingers dug into his skin. My eyes widened in fear and my scream had been reduced to nothing but muffled noises.
"Aeris, it's me Rhydain. Stop making noise or we'll get caught." He whispered in my ear.
"What?" But my words came out muffled. I raised my head to see his face, and it really was Rhydian.
"I'm going to remove my hand from your mouth now… don't make any noise." He warned, before removing his hand.
I turned to face him. "Why are you here?" I arched my brows at him.
'Has he been following me? Why? Did he notice that I lied to him?'
"Shhh." He pulled me into an embrace, and my face crashed into his chest.
Before I could protest I heard the sound of approaching footsteps. "Who is there?" The guards held their weapons, walking closer to us.
