Their descent from the Serpent's Tooth Mountains was less fraught with immediate danger, though the lingering taint of the Blight still clung to the higher elevations. Lumi, ever resourceful, guided them towards a small, isolated hermitage nestled in a hidden valley. It was the dwelling of Elara Vancroft, a reclusive scholar renowned for her knowledge of ancient lore and forgotten languages.
"If anyone knows the locations of these artifacts, it would be Elara," Lumi explained as they approached the secluded stone dwelling, overgrown with ivy. "She has dedicated her life to studying the lost histories of Aethel."
Elara, a woman with piercing blue eyes and a mind as sharp as any blade, greeted them with a cautious curiosity. Lumi explained their journey to the Serpent's Tooth Mountains and the encroaching Shadow Rot, carefully omitting the more fantastical elements of Xylos's true nature. She presented the fragmented texts mentioning the Sunstone of Eldoria and the Tear of the Silent King.
Elara listened intently, her gaze often drifting towards Xylos, as if sensing something unusual about him. When Lumi finished, she nodded slowly.
"The Sunstone… legends say it lies hidden within the ruins of Eldoria, an ancient city swallowed by the shifting sands of the Whispering Desert to the west," she said, her voice a low murmur. "A place of scorching heat and forgotten dangers."
She then turned her attention to the Tear of the Silent King. "That is a more elusive relic. It is said to be guarded by the Silent Kings themselves, spectral guardians within their tomb, a place shrouded in perpetual twilight in the Shadowfen marshes to the east. A place of decay and ancient sorrow."
The "System" provided new entries:

Two perilous paths lay before them, leading to opposite ends of Aethel.
Elara, sensing their determination, offered them what assistance she could. She provided them with detailed maps of the Whispering Desert and warned them of the treacherous quicksands and territorial sand drakes. For the Shadowfen, she spoke of the oppressive mists, the venomous flora, and the mournful wails of the marsh specters.
"Both journeys are fraught with peril," she cautioned. "Choose wisely, for the Blight will continue to spread while you seek these relics."
Xylos and Lumi exchanged a look. The choice was difficult. The Sunstone offered purification, a direct counter to the Blight's corruption. The Tear offered severance, a way to potentially break its connection to Aethel.
"Which do you think we should pursue first?" Lumi asked Xylos.
Xylos closed his eyes, focusing his senses. He could still feel the faint tendrils of the Blight's influence, a cold, creeping sensation that seemed to be emanating from the north, towards the Serpent's Tooth Mountains.
"The source is weakened, but the corruption lingers," he said, his eyes opening with a newfound resolve. "Purification seems the most immediate need. If we can cleanse the land around the nexus, it might slow the Blight's spread."
"Then the Whispering Desert it is," Lumi affirmed, her gaze determined.
They thanked Elara for her invaluable knowledge, and the reclusive scholar offered them a small pouch of enchanted herbs, said to ward off desert creatures and protect against the sun's harsh glare.
As they set off westward, towards the horizon shimmering with the heat haze of the Whispering Desert, the weight of their task settled upon them once more. The path was clear, but the sands of time were running out. The useless god and the determined herbalist were now racing against the encroaching darkness, their hope resting on relics lost to the ages.
