"Can you give a few words?"
"Is it true that your mother was into prostitution?"
"Who do you think is targeting you and your old friends?"
They were desperate and ruthless as they crowded me and pushed their mics into my face. I didn't give them the satisfaction of a single word as I was sure they would take my words out of context again.
So I didn't bother.
But their questions and cameras still followed me, even as I pushed through the crowd. By the time the officer opened the station doors, the noise had reduced but their presence were still pressing down on me.
The air inside the station was quite heavy but it wasn't quieter than outside. There were numerous phones ringing, a lot of papers were being shuffled and everyone seemed on edge.
"Right this way," the officer said as he led me through a narrow corridor.
He pushed open a door and stepped aside to let me in. I walked in without a word and in the middle of the room sat Sophia.
