My Cas, My One and Only Cas: Shit, Princess, give me 20 minutes at most. I'm on my way. 🚘🦸

Evadne couldn't stop laughing at their group chat.

Seeing Casadin lose his mind over the name change made her grin so wide her cheeks hurt.

And Hades, who had only replied once even after she dropped the "let's have sex" bomb, told her everything she needed to know about how busy he really was. It was understandable, though.

He'd been away from his CEO training for an entire month because of their road trip, and then another week when all three of them ended up admitted to the hospital. The moment he was discharged, he was dragged right back into back-to-back meetings and training sessions with his father and Caspian.

Casadin, on the other hand, had a good manager handling Nirvana Club. When he was there during the day, it was mostly to check inventory, approve changes he wanted for the club, and play around with ideas. Caspian and Diana didn't pressure him to start learning the family business yet. They believed he should find his passion first... so work would never feel like a cage.

While she waited for Casadin to arrive, Evadne lay back on her bed, phone resting on her chest, mind wandering.

Maybe I should surprise Hades at the office one of these days, she thought. Especially with the school year starting soon. Once classes resumed, they'd all get busy... but Hades most of all.

She was still imagining walking into the Falcon offices with a healthy drink in hand for him and a kiss when her bedroom door clicked.

"Princess!" Casadin's voice rang out, full of glee.

He cracked the door open, peeked in like a conspirator, then, seeing her, pushed it wide and stepped inside... smirk firmly in place, eyebrows dancing in that infuriatingly charming way. He shut the door behind him and locked it with a soft, decisive click.

In his hand was a glossy paper bag.

"Oh my gosh! How did you know I was craving chocolate right now?" Evadne squealed, eyes instantly locked onto the bag.

Without warning, she ran and launched herself at him.

Good thing Casadin's reflexes were sharp... especially when it came to her. He caught her easily, laughing as her legs wrapped around his waist. His hands slid to support the back of her thighs and her waist, holding her as if she weighed nothing.

He walked them toward the bed, Evadne clinging to him, peeking shamelessly into the bag with bright, greedy eyes.

Her golden irises sparkled like stars when she saw the assortment of expensive chocolates inside, and the sight tugged a helpless smile across his lips.

"Of course I knew," Casadin said, grinning with that smug swagger that was uniquely his. "You've been forced to eat healthy food for a whole week. Who else would sneak you something unhealthy but me? I always know what my Princess is craving before she even realizes it herself."

"I love you so much," Evadne declared.

As he sat down on the edge of the bed with her still straddling him, she cupped his face between her palms and kissed him.

Casadin's arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her flush against him. He buried his face in the crook of her neck and brushed soft kisses along her skin, inhaling the familiar scent of her.

"And I'm looking forward to my reward, Princess," he murmured against her throat, teasing warmth in his tone.

He shifted his hips and rolled them gently, making sure she could feel just how much he meant it.

Heat shot up Evadne's spine. Her body reacted before her brain did... her cheeks flushed, her breath hitched. No matter how many times they had done this, she still blushed like a girl on her first time.

"You are so horny," she said, laughing as she pinched his nose.

"It's not like it's a secret, Princess," Casadin replied, eyes gleaming. "You already know... I'm always horny when it comes to you."

His mouth wandered again, leaving soft, wet kisses along her neck, down to her collarbone, then back up to her jaw. He hovered near the corner of her lips, tantalizingly close, before finally claiming her mouth in a hot, unrestrained kiss.

Evadne answered him with equal fire, fingers threading through his hair, tugging just enough to make him groan.

Their kiss deepened... slow at first, then gradually more urgent, more hungry. The world outside her bedroom fell away. There was only the press of his chest against hers, the warmth of his hands on her back, the faint rustle of sheets as they shifted.

"Let me hear it, Princess," Casadin whispered when they finally broke apart for air, his forehead resting against hers.

The mischief in his voice was still there, but underneath it, clear and steady, was something else... undeniable love, raw and fierce, wrapped around the edges of desire.

Evadne's heart thudded hard against her ribs.

And in that moment, wrapped around him, with his arms holding her like he never intended to let go, she knew... boredom was the last thing she was going to feel today.

Evadne smirked and tightened her hold in his hair, tugging a little harder with both hands as she leaned in until their noses brushed. She looked straight into his eyes, pupils blown with heat.

"My Cas," she whispered, voice low and possessive, "my one and only Casadin Sinclair."

Then she kissed him... this time on her own terms, matching the fire he'd given her earlier and then some.

"Fuck," Casadin groaned when she ended the kiss by catching his lower lip between her teeth and giving it a deliberate, teasing bite before pulling back.

His breath stuttered as she slowly started working on the buttons of his blue polo shirt. He didn't move, didn't rush her... just watched her with darkened eyes, chest rising and falling while her fingers slid down, popping one button after another.

When she finished, Evadne parted the fabric with a slow, almost reverent motion, pushing the sides aside to reveal the firm lines of his chest and abs. Her fingers traced over his warm skin, following the definition of muscle. She worried her lower lip between her teeth as she dragged her touch down over him, savoring the way he tensed under her hands.

Then she froze.

Her brows drew together. She stilled, hand resting on his skin, and tilted her head slightly as if listening to something only she could hear. Then she lifted her chin and sniffed the air.

"Princess?" Casadin asked, confused.

"Can you smell that?" Evadne murmured, still distracted, still testing the air with small, sharp inhales.

"My hotness?" he said with a grin, unable to resist.

Evadne rolled her eyes at him but the corner of her lips twitched.

"Not that," she said, shooting him a mock glare. "I'm serious. I can smell something."

She inhaled again, brows knitting tighter, like whatever scent had hooked her was impossible to ignore.

"What does it smell like?" Casadin asked, this time serious. He tried to sniff the air himself, but nothing seemed different to him... just the usual mix of the almond-and-vanilla scent from her air humidifier and Evadne's own familiar softness.

He pulled her closer, hands sliding up her back, and buried his nose in the curve of her neck, breathing her in.

"All I can smell is you," he whispered huskily against her skin, lips ghosting over her throat. "And I want to devour you already."

"Wait," Evadne said suddenly, eyes widening.

She pushed him back just enough to put a small distance between them, then leaned forward and sniffed him... his neck, his collarbone, the bare expanse of his chest.

"It's you," she said.

Casadin blinked and instinctively sniffed both his underarms, panic starting to creep in.

"Did you change your cologne?" Evadne asked, ignoring his theatrics as she leaned in to smell him again, more intent this time.

"No," he said quickly. "Princess, do I smell?!"

There was genuine horror in his voice. Sure, he'd been sweating earlier... he'd helped his staff rearrange a new private room at Nirvana before coming over... but he had never in his life had body odor. Even if he spent the whole day sweating, he still smelled like his expensive body wash. That was one thing he'd always been low-key proud of.

But Evadne didn't answer him.

She kept smelling him... his neck, his chest, the side of his jaw... as if she couldn't stop, as if something primal had taken over her senses.

"Princess?" Casadin called, now more worried than offended. He gently pushed her back enough to look at her fully.

His eyes went wide.

"Princess… your eyes are turning weird," he whispered.

Evadne stared back at him, but it was as if she wasn't really seeing him. Her golden irises brightened, then shifted... light sharpening, pupils narrowing until they thinned into vertical slits. Dragon-like. Predatory. Ancient.

"Princess?" he tried again, voice tight.

She didn't answer, didn't seem to hear him at all.

She was looking at him... but not like Casadin Sinclair, her lover and best friend. She was looking at him like prey. Like he was food she wanted to devour.

Her lips parted.

Right before his eyes, her perfect white teeth elongated, four razor-sharp fangs sliding down from her canines with an unnerving, seamless ease.

"Princess! Fuck!" Casadin swore, half in shock, half in disbelief... then choked off with another curse as Evadne lunged forward and sank her fangs into his neck.

"Shit..." His breath hitched, the word strangled as white-hot pain sliced across his skin, followed immediately by a heavy, molten heat flooding under it.

He could feel her drinking him in... feel the pull as she drew his blood, warm and insistent, from the puncture in his neck. His grip on her tightened, but instead of shoving her away, he shut his eyes and dragged her closer.

Light-headedness hit him after a moment, a dizzy, almost floating sensation that crawled out from where she was latched onto him and spread through his chest and limbs. Then, beneath the fog, he felt something else... something foreign sliding into his bloodstream, hot and electric, riding along with the loss of blood.

His heart stuttered.

For one terrifying second, it seemed to stop... then kicked back to life… different. He could feel it, the rhythm shifting, syncing.

"Princess…" he rasped when she finally stopped drinking.

The world sharpened.

He could hear the faint rush of blood in her veins, the subtle pulse at the base of her throat. He could see the movement of the artery in her neck, the delicate jump of it, as if someone had turned the focus on the world up several notches.

Her heart was beating... but not alone.

It was beating in perfect sync with his.

Evadne pulled back from him, still dazed, his blood staining her lips. As she blinked, her fangs slid back, retracting until her teeth looked normal again. Her eyes slowly eased from feral gold slits back to their usual golden irises, confusion dawning on her face.

"Oh my god," she whispered, horror rushing in when she saw the twin puncture marks on Casadin's neck and the smear of red on his skin. "Cas… what did I do?"

Panic surged through her. She lifted her hands and tried to wipe the blood from his throat, only smearing more across his skin.

"Ah!" she yelped when, with one smooth, powerful motion, Casadin flipped their positions.

He rolled them, pinning her to the mattress, his body covering hers. His blood still felt hot in his veins... too hot... and something in him, something new and ancient and wild, was clawing at the edges of his control, screaming at him to claim her.

"Cas?" Evadne breathed, eyes wide as she stared up at him.

He looked down at her like a man starving, chest rising and falling, pupils blown dark. Every beat of his heart pounded in tandem with hers, echoing the same demand.

Mine.

"Mate," Casadin growled, voice low and rough, vibrating from somewhere deep in his chest.

He didn't give her time to answer.

He crushed his mouth to hers in a fierce, bruising kiss, pouring everything into it... shock, want, the new bond humming between them... like he never intended to let her go.
