"Aurora!" Marika shouted grom the well furnished and rather massive living room. She tapped her sandal against the hardwood floor as little Aurora dangled from the ceiling, trying to study a random lightbulb.
"Mama, one sec. Almost done." Her little four year old's golden hair hung down far below with its trailing, rainbow tips dangling in a fan. She was hugging a sconce with her thighs as she stared rather intensely, the same way her mom would in fact, at the lightbulb as she wrote in her tiny black journal Luna had gifted her the instant she could write.
Voidures.
Behave, or I won't ask Luna to do that thing you like.
Ahem. She is precious.
Thank you.
Bright, sapphire blues turned for a brief second to her mother as the lines of vein like gold through them shimmered with her ever racing thoughts. She had four, but she often kept the top two closed to help keep her head calmer. Marika had assumed Luna did it to avoid shock, but they were closer to stages of power. The greater the power, the greater the mental strain.
"Aurora Morgotta Radavuya Lila Evaresia!" She shouted up a little more intently.
The child groaned, slowly falling off like sludge sliding off a wall as she flopped into her mama's arms. "I was almost done." She pouted those adorable chubby cheeks.
"Well," Marika patted her head, "You can finish..."
"Studying the functionality of light and electricity between two metals."
"...That, after you and Malli get back from school."
"But I hate school. I keep changing classes and I can't make any friends."
"Well, you have Malli."
"I'm a higher grade than Malliiiii." Marika could feel a drop of sweat trickle down her temple.
"I got thos." Luna walked by, plucking their child by the ankle and tossing her over her shoulder with a giggle and a rather foxish yip from the girl.
"Mamaaaaa!"
"Come on, you got classes. Trust me, they suck. I get it."
"My teacher is an idiot."
"Well, how about this. You go to school the rest of the week, and you, Mama and I are going to go on a big road trip."
"Really?!"
"Oh yeah. Gonna show you two a real fun time. Let me tell you about these couple of brothers..."
Marika chuckled as the two faded into the distance. It had been four years since the end of the Lands Between. Four years since they had settled in, or scattered to their own adventures in this strange new world called Sol. The name once brought her a sense of confusion, trepidation, even worry.
Now? She was on a first name basis with three of the five ruling families of this world, a close friend and trusted member of this family called the FoLD now, and she was practically a regular in the markets by now. She had even begun working in Luna's smithy, where her public persona of Bastille made arms and armaments for the world's protective force known as the People's Guard.
At first, she had assumed they were just thugs as any police force would be, but their training was entirely focused on the preservation of life. They were not given any training on how to arrest, only how to protect and remove threats from others before leaving it to a group Luna ran known as the guild to handle the rest, which she had not really explored.
Malenia had stayed, becoming a traini g partner and close friend to Luna. She often suspected more, even, should it be allowed to blossom. Blaidd happily became the family papa, caring for any children and pets with bursting enthusiasm. Iji, Radahn, and Torrent had each taken to the winds to discover their own way with Radahn and Torrent traveling together. Fia, Ranni, and Melina had become their own little group in the home, often teasing Luna or others when not out and about. The home life had turned the trio into quite gossipy girls, but their lack of am actual childhood made her less concerned for their childisb antics. Melina alone had bled and nearly given her life for all of them. She deserved to get a little catty since she went off to college.
Malli took to being Aurora's sister like a fish to water. The two were inseparable most days, often catching them napping after playing or exploring the gigantic forest surrounding their home. There was only one section, a stump sat near the hill just to the north that oversaw the beautiful lake below that she never sat on. It was not hers to sit upon.
"Marmar!" Shouted her friend Hannah. A rather stoud and powerful woman with thick, curly brown hair and an attitude to rival her own other side.
"Yes Hands?"
"Lune told me she's got a new trip for you three."
"Yes, she was just telling Aurora."
"Mmmhm, but not a camping trip."
Marika quirked a brow as Hannah pulled out a pair of keys. The golden lover had grown fond of cars in her time here, and especially the motorcycles. She jangled the keys, a symbol of the keychain of a pentagram. "Lemme tell you all about where you three are heading."
"Ohhh, my first one of those trips."
"Mhm. Luna insisted. No more of Skith's horseshit games."
"Well," as she took the keys with a smile, "I suppose its only natural that I go with my lover."
Hannah grinned. "Oh, it's going to be downright Supernatural."
End of the Death of Gold.
