Chapter 3 - First Kills

First Kills

Niklaus: "AHHHHH, brother — what's happening to me?!"

Niklaus screamed in pain while a lifeless body lay on the ground beside him. His bones broke in unnatural ways, his eyes shifting from the red of vampiric hunger to a blazing gold-yellow.

Mikael, hearing his son's screams, rushed toward him. Elijah followed close behind.

Elijah: "NIKLAUS!"

Niklaus: "AHHHH — what is happening to me, brother?!"

Mikael stopped Elijah, realization dawning in his eyes.

Niklaus: "Father… it hurts."

Mikael scowled. "He is a beast. An abomination. Elijah, look after your brother while I speak to your mother."

Esther's Secret

Esther was busy with her daily chores when Mikael stormed in, fury radiating from him.

Mikael: "Woman! Explain yourself about the boy this instant."

The words froze Esther where she stood. Her deepest secret — her infidelity — was unraveling before her eyes.

Mikael: "ANSWER ME!"

Esther, trembling: "After Freya passed away, you distanced yourself from me… and I sought comfort."

Mikael: "With a beast? With the monster responsible for our son's death?!"

Esther wept. "I'm sorry."

Mikael left in silence, his rage unchecked. That night, he massacred an entire pack of wolves, returning drenched in blood. When he did, he demanded Esther place a curse on Niklaus, to suppress his wolf side forever.

But I would not allow it.

Klaus POV

I had known this day would come. Esther's necklace still bound my wolf side, suppressing the truth of what I was. But I had prepared my own ritual to break her chains.

Before they could attempt the curse, I made my move.

I sped to Tatia's home, her scent drawing me to her bedchamber. She startled awake when she saw me.

Tatia: "Niklaus? What are you doing here…?"

Her confusion shifted to fear as she saw the hunger in my eyes, the veins beneath them, the fangs descending.

Niklaus: "This is nothing personal, love. But doppelgängers… are troublesome."

I sank my fangs into her throat. Her scream never left the room — I had cast a silencing spell the moment I entered. I drained her dry, then staggered as fire tore through my veins.

Bones broke, reforming. Pain seared me as I collapsed, but I clenched my teeth until the storm passed.

When it ended, I rose — stronger than before, my veins humming with magic, my eyes glowing gold.

I was not just vampire.

Not just witch.

Not just wolf.

I was the first Tribrid.

The Suppression Attempt

Back at the compound, Mikael dragged me toward a wooden cross.

Mikael: "Elijah! Hold him down!"

Niklaus: "Brother — don't let them do this to me!"

Elijah wavered, torn between Father and me.

Mikael: "DO IT NOW, BOY!"

At last Elijah obeyed, pinning me down as Mikael began his work.

Niklaus (whispering): *"Help me…" *

When hope began to slip, salvation came. A force slammed into Mikael and Esther, knocking them back. Kol stood there, smirking, magic crackling at his fingertips.

Kol: "Was I late?"

Niklaus, straining against the ropes, smiled faintly. "No, brother. Right on time."

I muttered the words of power I had mastered in secret.

Niklaus: "Me ne de qual suurentaa!"

Mikael stiffened, his neck snapping with a sharp crack as he collapsed. Esther reached for a counter-curse, but Kol struck again, binding her tongue with a silencing spell.

Kol: "She won't be speaking for a while."

Niklaus: "Good. Let's move. Father won't stay down long."

Together, we sped away into the night, finding Rebekah and Finn. When we told them what our parents had tried to do, Rebekah struck Elijah hard across the face.

Rebekah: "How could you side with them? He is our brother!"

Ayana's Warning

Back at the compound, Esther stirred awake to see Mikael recovering — and Ayana standing before them, her eyes calm but heavy with judgment.

Ayana: "I warned you. I told you that creating these creatures would unleash something beyond your control. Still, you did not listen."

Esther: "I only wanted to protect my children."

Ayana: "You think you've created immortals, Esther. But you've only disrupted the balance. Nature will not allow such power without cost. For every predator, there is prey. For every strength, there will be a weakness. Balance will always find its way."

Mikael clenched his fists. "They are my children. I will not see them undone."

Ayana's eyes glimmered with ancient certainty.

Ayana: "You may fight nature, Mikael. But you will never conquer it. If vampires exist, then something else will rise to counter them. Always, there will be balance."

She turned and walked away, her words echoing in the silence she left behind.

And I knew she was right. Nature would always seek balance.

But balance or not, I had already broken free.

I was no abomination.

I was Klaus Mikaelson — the first Tribrid.
