A flurry of questions spilled from Jeffrey's lips, his urgency unlike anything Rachel had ever seen from him before.
Rachel looked up at him, surprised, as if all the quiet tension from their earlier journey had suddenly burst out in this moment.
"Jeffrey, let go of me first. I can explain," Rachel said.
But he didn't release her. Instead, he leaned down and showered her face with a series of gentle kisses. "Alright, explain. I'm listening."
No matter what, he didn't want to let her go.
Rachel felt her body temperature rising, as if his kisses were setting her thoughts on fire.
"I… I just went to visit my grandmother's grave today. On my way down, I took a small path that led to a mountain nearby. I used to play there as a kid, so I thought I'd check it out. That's when I unexpectedly ran into Garrett Vincent."
She hurriedly recounted the events, not wanting him to misunderstand.
However, she chose to leave out the part about regaining her memories.
