"Just a cake will be fine. This year, my birthday falls right after my grandma's memorial day. I don't want to celebrate in a big way; I just want to share a cake with you and Josephine," Rachel said.
Although this was her first birthday since they got together, she was still mourning her grandmother's passing.
She didn't want a noisy celebration; she just wanted a quiet day with him and her friends.
"Alright," he agreed. "I'll prepare a birthday cake for you."
"Thank you." She smiled softly, then glanced at the time. It was almost afternoon, and he needed to get back to work. "I should head back now and not disturb your work."
As she spoke, she picked up her bag and stood up.
But before she could take two steps, a pair of arms wrapped around her from behind, pulling her into his embrace.
His face nestled into her neck as he breathed in her sweet scent. "Tomorrow… don't go to the hospital. I'll take you to another one and find a doctor to check your headache, okay?"
