It felt as if the two people in the photo, no matter how in love they seemed, had nothing to do with her anymore.
She thought to herself that she had truly let go. All she wanted now was to protect her son and safeguard her home.
After leaving the small restaurant, Rachel returned to the Gray Family's house with a heavy heart.
Jeffrey asked, "Still thinking about Liam?"
Rachel nodded. "Sister Lauren doesn't want Jonathan to find her. She's always told Liam that his father is in heaven. But I don't think it would be a good thing for Sister Lauren to be found by Jonathan. He already has someone else in his life now. If it were me, I'd probably want to stay as far away as possible, never wanting to meet him again."
Her words made Jeffrey's brow furrow tightly.
Perhaps she had spoken without thinking, but her words struck a chord in him.
"Is it because… he once sent Lauren to prison?" Jeffrey asked, his tone sounding casual, though only he knew how tense he felt when he said it.
