"I... understand. I won't say anything to her," Lauren hesitated before continuing. "Even though I now know Rachel is your girlfriend, I never intended to use her for anything. I hired her simply because I felt a connection; we've both been through tough times, and I just wanted to give her a chance."
The coldness in Jeffrey's eyes softened a little. "I won't get involved in whatever you have going on with Jonathan Quintero. I just want Rachel to be able to work here peacefully. If anything happens to her, feel free to call me."
He handed Lauren his phone number. She quickly wrote it down.
It was rare to get this number in Shen City, and now she had it under such circumstances.
But since Jeffrey said he wouldn't interfere with her situation with Jonathan, that probably meant he wouldn't tell him about her location either.
That thought made Lauren let out a small breath of relief.
